ere we are again for the fourth edition of the "new" revamped mafia and the seventh overall. I'm willing to change some roles or style now we've done a few, so I'll leave plenty of discussion time if there is some Only one change this year, and it was discussed last edition when I tried a new format.
I also received a PM recently inviting PCM.daily to send a representative to the Mafia Championship. In the spoiler is the invitation. I don't expect anyone to be interested given the time commitments, but if you are I'm happy to nominate you

INVITATION TO THE MAFIA CHAMPIONSHIP (SEASON 5)
Hello there!
It is with great pleasure that I hereby invite your community to take part in Season 5 of the Mafia Championship.
The Mafia Championship is an annual forum tournament series that pits representatives from various online Mafia (aka Werewolf) communities against one another as they compete to determine the Internet’s greatest forum Mafia player. Each participating community democratically elects one person to represent them and be their “Champion”.
The whole thing started back in 2013, and since then more than 225 different communities and 50+ different nationalities have been represented.
I hope it sounds like a fun and exciting event
1. DO YOU ACCEPT THE INVITE?
If your community wishes to participate, please confirm your participation to me as soon as you can to ensure yourselves a spot.
If you agree to participate, the deadline for selecting your representative is May 1. If this is too soon for you to decide on anyone, let me know and we can work something out.
The games will take place on Mafia Universe. If it’s okay, I can link directly to the general discussion thread regarding this topic on Mafia Universe.
Important notes
[list][*]You may decide yourselves how you want to elect your representative, but we highly recommend some sort of democratic process (public nominations followed by a poll usually works out well).[*]In addition to electing a representative, you should also name an alternate who will be asked to step in if the first choice needs to back out.[*]Your representative should be prepared for having to read upwards of 500 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game. Additionally, there’s a requirement that each player must make at least 10 posts per Game Day. Only active players should apply/participate. I repeat: Your chosen player needs to be able to promise a good amount of activity on a daily basis.[/list]
2. SEASON 5 FORMAT
The tournament structure
[list][*]170 communities will participate, each sending one representative.[*]10 Qualifying Games will be played, consisting of 17 players each. I.e. every representative plays in one Qualifying Game. The players themselves vote post-game to determine who is deserving of advancement. 1st place will advance directly to the Finale Game (i.e. 10 of the 17 finalists are found this way), while the 2nd places will advance directly to one of the two Wildcard Games.[*]A Jury consisting of finalists from Season 4 will discuss and vote to determine 25 players in total deserving of a second chance: 1 will advance directly to the finale, and the 24 other players will play in 2 Wildcard Games along with the 2nd places that advanced directly to these. From each game, three players will directly advance to the Finale Game based on a post-game player vote.[*]The Finale Game is played. Once it has completed, the players vote to determine who shall receive the title of Season 5 Champion and a winner’s certificate signed by Dmitry Davidoff, the creator of mafia.[/list] The setup explained very briefly (more details on host site)
This (view picture below) is a semi-open grid setup meant for 17 players: 4 mafia versus 13 townies. First you randomly select a number to decide the mafia team's composition of Power Roles (1-2), then you randomly select a letter to decide the town's composition of Power Roles (A-E). Fill in the number of Vanilla Townies needed to make the town team have 13 members total, and you have your setup.
*Town Jack of All Trades: 1x Vigilante, 1x Roleblocker, 1x Tracker.
Relevant mechanics info
[list][*]Day start.[*]Deadline Lynch w/ Option for Majority starting Day 2. I.e. when day timer runs out, person with most votes will be lynched. However, day can also be ended early (starting Day 2) if there is ever a majority of votes on one person.[*]If there is a tied lynch, one of the tied players will be randomly lynched.[*]No outside communication. I.e. you may not contact the other players outside of the thread (unless you are Mafia and wish to speak with your teammates).[*]Phase Lengths and Deadlines will be up to the players themselves (I’ll organize them into games with deadlines that suit their preferences).[*]Thread is locked during Night Phases.[/list]
3. SEASON 5 TIMELINE
There will be 10 Qualifying Games, and your representative plays in just one of these. They will have start dates during the months of May and June. So in other words, as long as your representative can play sometime during that period, they should be good and I’ll make sure they get scheduled into a game that suits their schedule well. I.e. if your rep is busy until June, that isn’t a problem.
Wildcard games will be played in July, and the Finale Game sometime in August/September (whenever we can work out something that suits everyone).

The purpose of this game is to be a smaller scale community game than BB or The Amazing Race, but with just as much fun. It will be tactics based rather than the HoH or Roadblock challenges other games may have As always thanks a lot to Kritzo for the base (and most) of this rules write-up
Rules
§1: The game is led by a moderator (me), who undisputed will make all the decisions of the game. There will probably be just this one thread for everything.
The game is played in a specific thread for this, and it is not allowed whatsoever, to discuss this game outside this thread, except in chatzies you may make within your mafia.
[There are two teams in a simple game: The town and the mafia. There are more townies (pro-towns) than members of the mafia (anti-towns), but the townies do not know much at all. They are usually helped by townies with so-called power roles ex. a detective or a doctor (what their specific powers are, is described at the bottom). The members of the mafia know each other’s role. The mafia has a common role, that is to decide who to kill in the nights. The name of the person to be killed is sent in a PM to me.
The game is divided in two phases. Day and night. The players have to discussed who to lynch in the daytime, and before the deadline of the day (sunset), the players have agreed to lynch someone. In the nighttime the power roles do their job of either killing someone (mafia) or checking someone’s alignment (detective). The nights are usually shorter than the days.
Lynchings:
§2: The players decide to lynch one person a day. Who this is, is determined by voting in the gamethread. Every participant has one vote, and the person with most votes will be lynched at the end of the day. If it is a tie between two people, The person with the longest-standing final vote will be lynched, i.e. if jandal has four lynches and the fourth was at 4pm, and Kritzo has four lynches and the fourth was at 6pm, jandal is lynched. This doesn't count for a tie between a person and no lynch, in this case there is no lynch. When you are voting, vote with a bold text, like this: “Lynch jandal7”, and remember to leave no doubt about your vote when voting whatsoever. If you decide to change your mind it is the last vote that you make that counts as your vote. Basically you can vote as many times as you like. There are also the option of: “Lynch no one”.
IF 16 OR MORE (over half of the participants) vote for the same person, that person is lynched immediately, and the night will start.
The end of the game:
§3: The pro-towns win, when all the members of the mafia are either killed or lynched.
The anti-towns (mafia) wins, when there are equal members of the anti-town and pro-town.
Behaving:
§4.1: When you are dead, you are dead. You are not allowed to give information about your role/other’s role to the players still in the game. If you are so eager to do this, ask ME, the moderator, and I will take a look at it.
§4.2: It is strictly forbidden to screenshot or quote my PMs. You do not have to PROVE, who you are, but only persuade people to believe you. As of this, it is not allowed EITHER, to create false screenshots or make up wrong quotations from me the moderator.
§4.3: If you do not agree with my decision, then write it in a PM to me, and not in the thread. It is, however, allowed to let others know about it, WHEN THE GAME IS OVER.
§4.4: Try not to leave the game out of nowhere.
§4.5: Do not delete or edit your posts. When you have posted something, it will stay as it has been posted, and if I find out that you have cheated, you are out of the game.
§4.6: Be active. It is always more fun to participate in a game, where people are active.
§4.7: If you know that you will not be able to lynch/participate in the game for some days, let me, the moderator, know.
§4.8: Don’t offer something for information IRL. That is just not cool.
§4.9: NOT NEW BUT PLEASE DO THIS: At night you are "asleep", even if you have night roles. This means no talking from the end of the day to the start of the next day. You will be warned and no real punishments unless you're being persistent and just a dick about it.
Will be cut down in an order I will announce at the time.
The roles of the game with a description PRO TOWN
Townie – You are a townie, and have no special “powers” whatsoever. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Detective – You are detective, and are able to check on participant’s alignment (anti- or pro-town) every night. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Doctor – You are a doctor, and are able to “rescue” one participant every night. That means that, that person can’t be killed by the mafia. And newagain this edition, it will not be revealed who that person is. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Masons – You are Mason with participant x. You are able to communicate with this person outside the game. You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.¨
Gunsmith – You are a gunsmith, and you each night you forge a weapon for a player. I will let the person know that they have a weapon, and they are able to use it to kill one in the day. You are able to save your weapon for later, but if you have saved your weapon and gets a new, you will still have one weapon left. There are a 50% chance of you getting revealed when firing the weapon. . You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Mortician – You are able to check the SPECIFIC ROLE of a dead participant each night. . You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
BATMAN – That is right! BATMAN! When you are batman, you are able to either track a person (know who they have checked that night), know who has checked the person or check the person’s alignment. When you are checked by the detective, you appear to be alignment with the mafia. . You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
Confused Cop – You are confused. You have the “same power” as the detective but with a twist. When you get your report, you do not really know, whether you can trust it or not, because of bad police work. . You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed. (The detective and Confused Cop will not know that they are either CC or Detective. They must find out throughout the game).
Hunter – You are hunter, and have two kills throughout the game. You can only use one kill at a time, and it has to be tone during the night. . You win the game with the town, when all the members of the mafia has been lynched or killed.
ANTI TOWN
Godfather – You are godfather, and the first time you are checked by the detective, your alignment appears to be good. However, if you are checked a second time, your true alignment is revealed. You attend the “mafia meeting”. You win the game with the mafia, when the amount of mafias are equal to the amount of townies.
Roleblocker – You are roleblocker, and may block another person’s role during this night. This means that the detective will not get a report, or the doctor cannot save one. You win the game with the mafia, when the amount of mafias are equal to the amount of townies.
Muter – You are muter, and you mute someone each night. That person may not talk during the day and might potentially be lynched. You attend the mafia meetings. You win the game with the mafia, when the amount of mafias are equal to the amount of townies.
Terrorist – You are terrorist, and may bomb yourself + another person during the game. This happens by writing BOMB X in the game-thread. You attend the mafia meetings. You win the game with the mafia, when the amount of mafias are equal to the amount of townies.
Mafia Goon – You are Mafia Goon, and have no special powers. You attend the mafia meetings. You win the game with the mafia, when the amount of mafias are equal to the amount of townies.
General information about this game:
”Open” setup with 30 participants
The player’s alignment is revealed when lynched or killed.
“No lynch” is allowed.
No PMs, got something to say, do it in the thread!
If you have been muted please adhere at the behest of being booted out (potentially after warning).
No other threads than the threads I make.
You vote by writing Lynch X, and there must be no doubt whatsoever, who you vote for.
Deadlines are a set limit. This will mean the cycle will be longer (probably 48 hour days 24 hour nights) but there will be no extensions purely for discussion unless there is a major event late in the day (gunshot mostly). For night roles I accept orders for a couple of nights in advance if you will be away for a weekend, etc.
The registration for this game is based on the 'first come, first served' principle. So hurry up! Or don't, 30 people isn't likely But then again, you never know

I'd like to suggest two roles for this game, a Vigilante who has a gun with a shot, but if they shoot a townie then they die the next day and also Jester or Joker or whatever who wins if they get lynched but can kill somebody who voted to lynch them the night that they die (they show up as innocent to the detective though).
Re: the invitation to Mafia Championship... To tell you a bit more about this - for those that didn't click the spoiler - it's an international tournament with more than 170 communities participating. I'm hoping PCM.daily will be one of these. Basically it entails one person going to represent this community.

Like I said before, I'd really like to do it. I just don't know if I'd have the time until the end of next week, especially if I get mafia. And I don't want to hold back the game with inactivity.

Studies are getting in the way, and as i'm also taking part in the PCM World Cup (and doing really well ), i think that even if i might have the time to play, what i wouldn't have is the energy to be play and be active
Not looking like we are gonna have enough interest this time. This is the reason why I have been contemplating putting Big Brother on a sabbatical this year until either more people start flowing into the site or interest pops up again.
