We have no domestiques to control the pack. Don't blame me though, all our talents had to go here so we could send a respectable squad to Poland.
On the bright side, it keeps Kwiatkowski's points jersey chances alive, although I'm expecting another breakaway stage tomorrow since we have no puncheurs (honestly not going to count Rabottini).
Thank you for another fantastic report Roturn!

Once again a better result is ruined by a breakaway 4th is still decent, but we could be going home with quite a bit more points if not for the breakaways here. Would like the team to put a better effort to bring them back since imo we had two favourites both on the sprint stages and the pure hill stages, if we aren't even going to send a guy into the break...

Nico Denz what a trooper! In the break every day and going for the stage win, a podium finish is more than we expected but leading the points competition is unbelievable - can a certain M Cavendish take note
I'm enjoying how Denz is performing ever since I alluded to being interested in him

Well, what can I say, seems like the team really listened to what I said. Put in the effort in the chase early in the stage, and then Zaini made the definitive move and we get the stage win. These are the type of performances I know the team is capable of, which is why I get frustrated all the time when it seems like the team sits idle.
Thanks a lot for the reports roturn! And congrats to Netia on the GC win.

Despite Zardini having a nightmare in the hills, I'm very pleased that Jurgen VDB did what was required of him and climbed up the GC to finish 7th. A solid effort from the old man! Will be happy if he continues to finish ahead of considerably better riders.

Well there you go, I'm not quite as mad at this race as I was after stage 3 thanks to the positions my guy Preemo gained today in the GC. Sure, it could have been better if daily form wasn't as random as a lottery, but I'm not gonna complain about something like 50 points over the span of 6 days. I'm gonna take this result and hope Roglic has something a bit better in him.
Solid 10-pointer by Malacarne too, that was unexpected I'll admit. We should have 100 more points after this race which, by me, is totally fine. Thanks for all the reports roturn and congrats to valv and trek for their respective results. I'm gonna have to ask for Dall'Oste's drugs though!

Great report and a great stage!
Certainly some rather big changes. Berg the big loser on the day, but also Kudus dropping a good bit in the GC.
Some great results for team expected to be at the lower end of the rankings here, with Pinot, Ji, Van den Broeck and Dall'Oste all in the top 10.
Big result for UBS also. Obviously Amador will take a lot of points during the season, and with performances like this from Schelling, they look to be a serious contender for promotion.
Slightly surprised to see Kwiatkowski being so quiet on the last stage, with the point jersey up for grab for instance, but big congrats to trek anyway!

What a race for Dall'Oste (or whatever he is spelled)!
Kwiatek doing enough to secure the win, that looked save for a few days now. Tough day for Kudus though, can't say I'm happy about him dropping to 5th. Eritel needs yet another year to deliver a big GC here..
Thanks for some lovely reports and congrats to all winners!

Why is Rabottini so bad? Should've maybe sent Stachowiak or Honkisz (really both and LLS too) but they deserve to be in Poland. Fortunately Kwiatek has this handled to keep the GC win all safe, although I feel like we could've done better with more support, especially maybe going for the stage win and points jersey today and we got lucky he had such a big lead in the mountains, clash with Polonge is still cruel.
Absolutely amazing to win the GC though, a real confidence boost with the points and lovely to see our Polish hero showing himself off in the early season. Would've been nice to take the points jersey, but I'm not complaining. Fun first stage as well with Veyhe getting a couple days in the KOM jersey, has been a really cool race for us and maybe a reminder that we aren't going to finish last in the rankings?
Congrats to Valverde on finally getting a stage win, must've been quite frustrating seeing the team not perform so great in the days before.
And thank you very much for the excellent reports throughout Roturn, really fantastic coverage!

Ji 4th place is fantastic!
And collecting points on every stage and 3 different riders top 50 GC, means we scored well over 100 points here. That might be the difference between CT and PCT in the end. Wow, what a race!
Thank you so much roturn, congrats to Zaini and Meiji and to Netia |

The perfect nightmare....
What could have been a wonderful race turns out to be a poor race, everything went wrong in this last stage, already expected to lose some time and places but not so many. Brandão does not attack and deliver the victory in KoM of hand kissed, Antunes attacks and although already having points does not discuss the available points, We had a 5min lead in the team standings and we ended up losing 11min.
What else could have gone wrong in this last stage? That I remember everything that could go wrong went really badly...
I really have to settle for about 150pts when we could have almost doubled that..
Congrats to trek and thanks for the great reports

What a race for Dall'Oste! He gave me a hard time during renewals because of his (pointless for us) Giro succes, but I'm glad I gave him confidence. It also shows a realistic, balanced training pays off instead of some of the very onedimensional riders in the mangame. But really, double stage win, top 10 GC and two jerseys, this is by far the most succesful stage race our team has ever had!
Thanks for the reports Roturn, this more than makes up for all the crap you gave me in TDU

Nice to see Kwiatek with a cool ride to take the GC despite his team sucking today really Also love Dall'Oste's race and a great win for Zaini and Meiji, some more like that and he can start showing his worth for them I guess
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Kwiatek with an expected but due to lack of support ultimately lucky victory. Lack of team mates could have backfired a lot but congrats trek anyway!
Schelling with a monster race finishing 2nd. Gives UBS a new trajectory for the season if he can add another similar strong race.
Roglic climbs a few stages and finishes close to what could be expected.
Dall'Oste with a huge, huge race. I have no idea what stuff Lierse is doing with their riders but it's crazy effective!
Berg one of the big losers of the stage. Marquez, Nazaret, and Chiarello all dropping back is a hugely bad result for the team. Might have been better if Chiarello was sent as lone leader?
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Huge congrat to Trek for the GC win! As he brought here a shit team except for Kwiato, some weird result for breakaway since he took the lead, with Dall'GODste putting the magic with Points + KoM + top10 + stage win. Huge race for those two teams who should be in the fight for relegation.
And as always great reports roturn!

Yuk. What happened there?
Underperformances all round, such a disappointong finish to a race that had started so well.
Congrats to those with better fortune.

Congratulations to Trek and Ollfardh with huge races. I have to say this was a big race for us as well, Schelling definitely over performed. 2nd, numerous top 10s on stages, 2nd in the young rider, and 1st in team classification is a huge haul for us especially in a race without Amador. This bodes well for the season ahead.
Thank you for the great race roturn, it was well written and very fun!

This hasn't been a very good race for us. Drapac did well, but especially Úran couldn't do what I hoped he could do. Ah well, regroup and focus on the next mountain race which hopefully is more favorable to him.
Thanks roturn for the reports, and congratulations to trek and Kwiatkowski on the overall victory. Also congrats to those who did get what they wanted out of this race.

Congrats trek on this nice individual strength win. Rabottini was doing okay but he had far too less support and hence had to "slow down" early.
Great one for UBS and Lierse as well. Huge races for those. Similar for Ji, VdB or Pinot, which were barely seen but very consistent.
Many teams with results as expected such as Generali.
Feel for those, that clearly underperformed. In especially Eritel as Kudus looked so good but lacked the support. Teklehaimanot was huge but used too early in many stages. One of the strongest riders in general though. But with Berhane being some very crappy rider this event, he was no longer any support once Teklehaimanot was done for the day. Hence hugely unlucky...plus Kudus having his bad moment on those last kilometers.
Also Fablok was unlucky. Losing too much on the climb and then not strong enough in the hills. Roche on last day was too late and Zielinski wasn`t as strong as supposed to.
Berg really unlucky as well. Though it wasn`t that unexpected really on such Ardennes stage. Was a huge gamble with 2 climber only stage racers and in the end did not work out well. Still unlucky as their climbing was okay.
Last but not least. Uran and Minions. Clearly the biggest disappointment for no reason at all. Only one good GC day and this on the least important stage... |
