Looking forward to this race! Not a race we expect to pick up many points from, but a top-5 is definitely achievable.

It's strange that my first reaction is already "weakish start list" whenever Boasson Hagen is not riding a HC event but without him AND Meiji this looks like an invitation for Tejay to win.
Cheering especially for Gautier, Mohoric und LLS to continue the good runs of their teams
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I get the feeling and hope that this race will be a classic! TVG the one to beat for sure.

Going to be interesting to see how my trio of 77 hill riders fares this season. No real expectations, but 3 chances of having a rider on a good form day at least. Hopefully we will at least go breakaway hunting on those stages.
And Van Heerden too. Races like these should be reasonable opportunities for him, although my two other sprinters are in Eritrea, so he had better not want a lead out!

Hoping that Caruso and the team can be underdogs here!

Hopefully, Schreurs can continue off his great Tour Down Under win. Obviously not the top favourite - Van Garderen is - and the longer hills may prove too much for him, but we'll see. |

Not sure what to expect of this race. Klemme and Kadri are not exactly world beaters, but who knows, maybe they can surprise? Let's hope so

Ah, it hurts to see the team do absolutely nothing in our home race. Nobody is even bothered to finish in the top 100, where I thought at least we could join the morning breakaway or LLS could show his face at the front, especially when weaker puncheurs are going for it in the final kms.
Obviously can't complain with what's going on in Eritrea but just with a home race it's obviously disappointing and it won't get better.
Of course a few goods come out of the stage, your report was fabulous Tamijo, and congrats to BBL, Juul-Jensen is a rider I love to see win, especially when it means I walk away with $PCM 9200.
Also, weird to see Ullisi lose yet another sprint, PCM should really get it's act together with these sorts of sprints.

Couldn't have had a much worse start with Watson crashing after a 3km, but luckily he seems to have escaped an injury. Great attacking display in the end, and eventhough the sprint was rather poor, it's a great start to the race.
Also very pleased to see Christopher Juul-Jensen winning. A great start to the season for him, congrats bbl! What I would have give for my salary bill being 60-70k smaller after renewals
Thanks for the report Tamijo
Edit: Also, does PCM still have the "back wheel" bug? Ulissi being 3rd seems odd judging by the pics.

I love the fact that we're always taking so much initiative in joining breaks or other later attacks.

Right, lets see what Yates can do. Probably not much, but i still think he can be a surprise package and bring in some points.

Wait what the fuck, how did Ulissi finish 3rd and not 2nd Was Yates doing 90 km/h or something like that in the last metre
Regardless, I have no reason not to be extremely happy about this result, wow. Perfect team work, it just goes to show that I'm not in Belgium giving sloppy ass orders to Theuns and I'm in Generali's Pologne team car instead Ulissi is the best puncheur in the group in the front that got 55" on everyone, and another rider of mine is in there, too, Lavery is doing exactly what he should have done in TDU if he didn't crash, lovely pickup for what I had to pay for him so far
Kind of a shame that Ulissi seems completely unable to ever make use of his vastly superior SPR stat compared to pretty much anyone else that could be considered a top PCT puncheur. But anyways, I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but there's a chance we could even win this after today's performance. Again, what a team effort, 5 riders in the top 30, what are we, Ferrero?
Thanks for the report Tamijo and congrats BBL, looks like Juul-Jensen will be this year's Bruno Borges!

By the way: We had the best lineup of all teams for this stage, and our best rider finished 102nd. Outstanding.

Really liking this result with another Juul-Jensen surprise and "young" Yatesy punching above his weight too.
Entirely agreeing with matt that Ulissi has more often than not disappointed in group sprints, but it's good to see that you focus on the bigger picture which does indeed look good now. The remaining hill stages all look very tough though, there are easily 3-4 minutes to be gained or lost overall for any good puncheur.

this was not the ideal way to start this race, I start to look at this race and see the repetition of what was the Tour Down Under...
Only positive aspect was the presence of Vilela in Break, Vogt once again in great, ending in an incredible 137 place...

IS IT TOO EARLY TO START THE DE MAAR COMPARISONS???
Wow. I was not expecting a victory this early in the year, but Juul-Jensen looks really good so far. I'm not going to get ahead of myself, but the race is already a success after such a stunning victory. The longer we hold the jersey, the better. I'm hoping for a top 10 on GC from him now, and it doesn't seem unreasonable.
Thanks for the report! Looking forward to the battles ahead now!

Juul-Jensen impressive again. This kid got talent. Ulissi gaining a first advantage over other top favorites.
Loved the report introduction and stuff!

Team does most of the work, gets none of the rewards... Guess they just didn't have the legs at the end. At least the pressure is on the other teams now to keep tempo and keep TVG in check.
