Nantou Classic
Category: C1 | 190,8 km | terrain: hilly | China |
The chinese race, Nantou Classic, has it's first appearance on the Man-Game calendar 2016. It's another race for the pure puncheurs, that should be first to win here:
| Hil | Mon | Acc | Sta | Res | | Hil | Mon | Acc | Sta | Res | Di Maggio | 82 | 65 | 75 | 73 | 68 | Barrio | 79 | 70 | 67 | 69 | 63 | Kinoshita | 81 | 72 | 77 | 80 | 77 | Ben Nasser | 79 | 69 | 77 | 76 | 70 | Flügel | 81 | 72 | 74 | 79 | 67 | Bilbao | 79 | 67 | 75 | 77 | 71 | Roche | 80 | 78 | 72 | 78 | 75 | Schumacher | 79 | 66 | 69 | 75 | 70 | Hugenhaben | 80 | 77 | 66 | 77 | 76 | Reichenbach | 78 | 73 | 69 | 76 | 69 | Costa | 80 | 71 | 72 | 73 | 72 | Waeytens | 78 | 71 | 73 | 72 | 70 | Gautier | 80 | 68 | 77 | 76 | 72 | Palini | 78 | 70 | 74 | 75 | 68 | Ulissi | 80 | 66 | 75 | 83 | 71 | Landa | 78 | 69 | 69 | 70 | 69 | Zaini | 80 | 66 | 70 | 74 | 65 | Bellis | 78 | 68 | 75 | 80 | 71 | Vogt | 80 | 62 | 61 | 78 | 71 | Mendes | 78 | 68 | 65 | 72 | 68 | Betancourt | 79 | 73 | 74 | 72 | 71 | Slagter | 77 | 78 | 71 | 71 | 73 |
The pure speed should have no influence at all, but the acceleration traditionally has a major impact. Looking at the profile though you have to expect quite some influence by the mountain stat too. Additionally the traditional influence of energy stats.
Looking at the stat combinations we expect the two of Kinoshita and Flügel to be strong. While the japanese with his back ups is the best puncheur of the division, Flügel offers a downhill stat to work with which might save him some nice energies. On top, Wiesenhof has always a very strong team of domestiques to offer. But still, it's mostly Kinoshita to watch out.
The strongest opposition should come from the Arrinera squad in the name of Nicholas Roche. His overwhelming climbing abilities might make him a guaranteed Top 3 candidate.
The profile almost leaves no space for a breakaway win, but here is the full startlist to find your favourite attacker on the startlist. van der Hugenhaben is a similar type of rider, but worse in almost every aspect. Though also the In-n-Out rider still is a Top 5 candidate. The third rider in that row should be Slagter, being a real threat if the mountain stat arises of high influence.
In a really slow race also Ulissi and Gautier should find their chances. You shouldn't count out Di Maggio too, who could work if hill stat alone determines the result.
Any other rider should only be able to fight for a lower place in the Top 10. Small spot on Costa and Betancourt, who look like the best of the normal 2nd tier favourites.
The race design almost gives the breakaway no hope with the steep finish and the rough climbs. Still there is a spare chance, which of these guys might try their luck?

Pressure on Waeytens again, and aside from Umerbekov there's no real support.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Ah forgot about this! Last time Roche was in a classic, he won it! Hope he will at least get an Top 5, where this is among one of last races, where our captains will feature in. I really hope for the best here, but Kinoshita should have this race by his slightest whim.

Let's go win this! Always nice to have the first numbers on your team's back, but rarely does that signify a victory. Who knows, maybe this is an exception?
Kinoshita is in the startlist though, so he's the automatic winner unfortunately A top 4 would make me happy. Thanks for everything you're doing Croatia!

Is the top10 possible for Vogt ?? I hope so, but I have the impression that it will fail again.

Have Palini here which means somewhere between 10th and 25th generally (although he'll find a way to do worse this time ) Hope to be on the better side of that range, no real concerns though.
Kinoshia definitely for the win, don't know if it's possible to beat him.
Great preview Croatia, thanks for that

Stop guys, you are jinxing it
Hopefully Kinoshita can take a podium here, but as the preview suggests, Flugels downhill stat could really help him here.

Another race with double leadership, hopefully Bilbao can be more visible this time around though. Excited to see Slagter racing again aswell. Should be a fun race anyway. Kino for the win obvs.

Pressure is already on, making us dependent from delivering. Hard to believe it's a race for the pure punchers, but wouldn't complain.
Thanks for the preview, Croatia!

Our best rider just managed to grab a 60th place in what was our win goal, anyone better?
Congrats to fellow Asians in Meiji and Kinoshita for the great win almost on home soil. And also a big thank you to croatia for the preview and report! |

Woah, what a race for us
Costa getting a maximum good result for him here with a podium, stoked about that!
Slagter and Bilbao also top 11 here makes this race a great success. Congratz to valv and meiji, Kino as strong as anticipated. Thanks to croatia for another top report, really pumping them out now!

Fuck, this couldn't have sucked more for our promotion hopes. We need some kind of miracle in the next races, otherwise our season could be done here. Really bad showing by Ulissi, what the hell happened there?
Kinoshita... No words to describe his season anymore. Congrats!

Well I thought when Kinoshita was brought back from his early attack it was over. I guess he was really strong today because he was the most active and still had the energy to win in the sprint! Great work from him again!
Thanks for the reports, suspenseful finish which you captured perfectly in the report!
