At least we tried, but the way the race shaped out to be, it seemed that Froome getting away was almost impossible. We came here to win and got yet another 2nd place, which is kinda annoying. This was the race, that I hoped would bring us back in the Top 10. At least Froome got a lot of points in his final stage race and even a points jersey is an improvement at best. Now I would say our season is finished for good, hopefully we can be allowed to expand to a more dimensional team for next season

First of all I would like to apologize to everyone for my absence in recent times, but the deaths of family people complicated my coming here to the forum...
As for this race I have nothing to point to the team, they fought, they won and they had close to the total success. In the end we should have achieved a good amount of points, 1 win, 1 podium, 2nd place by teams, 2nd and 3rd in KoM and 15th place in Vogt is much more than I could expect.
Congrats to Valverde for the win and thanks for the great reports roturn

yay, Landa in the break is sweet! Too bad he had an off day though
Costa alert and climbing in the GC, 4th here would be a very respectable result!

Can't complain, 7th is about what I would have taken at the start of the race. Obviously burns a bit that with a better stage 5 Ulissi could have podiumed, I have no idea how he managed to lose that much time after being the closest to Froome and Kinoshita, but alas.
Plus I'm happy Kinoshita will - barring any very unforeseen circumstances - win me some PCM dollarinos! What an exceptional rider, contender for this year's Rider of the Year for sure. Bit of a shame Meiji will end up overtaking us by the end of the season though
7th will still allow us to increase our lead on the poor boys over in Sri Lanka, I'm honestly sorry PCM can't handle double leaders.
Thanks for the great reporting, roturn!

We're Fucked then. Fucked with a capital F.
I have nothing nice to say about this race, but thank you for the reports roturn. I look forward to watching our promotion push implode further in every single hilly race remaining. |

What a waste of race days, apart from the TT(only top 25), the best positions my team have got in stages are outside the top 60 every time. What an embarassment! |

Nice to see Wyss even clawing back the 9th spot after losing it for a day to Gilbert. Undoubtedly his best race since becoming Swiss champion.
Would love to see one of our guys cruising downtown London in a breakaway group or Gatto finishing strong in a bunch sprint... though whatever happens tomorrow this Tour is a ray of hope in the latter Vontobel team history.

That was a very tense final hill stage. Was really worried that Kinoshita would lose the lead but lucky for us everything bunched back together. Another GC win (barring a disastrous final stage) is very nice as well!
Certainly dont think this was a dominant GC win by any means, just managed to have a good day on what turned out to be the all important stage with the biggest gaps.

two breaks in two days is a very nice ending to this race, especially with another podium! 4th in GC and two more top 30 here is decent. Adding the team comp+ salas earlier stage win makes this a pretty solid race. Congratz to valv for Kinos convincing win and cheers for the work roturn!

Can someone research the stage races whose final stages haven't been won by a breakaway?

A little frustrated that RVH wasn't able to pull out a better result here, but a top 5 gc finish and some very nice stages is nothing to be upset about
And thanks for the reports Roturn! |

Thanks for the reports, roturn; and gratz to Meiji!
Comparing startlist and final result we have to be satisfied, especially with Marcel Wyss performance. Have hoped for breakaway appearances to open up other scoring opportunities, but even though it's an improvement.

Could have won the final stage had we chased just a little harder and caught the break, frustrating as that would have solidified us as the strongest team of the race
Still, I shouldn't complain too much, great GC win for Kinoshita! Thanks all, for the congrats.
Thank you for the reports roturn!

Well done Haavardsholm- or should that be Ole, Ole, Ole?

Overall, that was a great race for us. Yes, the GC result wasn't who we expected it to be, but Bille's TT performance, days in yellow and Top 15 result is outstanding from him. Topped off with a stage win from Abelouache and I can see some much needed points coming our way. Promotion push could be back on...
Thanks for the great reports roturn and congrats valv on the GC win
