Good to see Belkov back on the saddle, Kritskiy needs all the help he can get!

4th on the stage is certainly something - good ride from Joey Rosskopf possibly a career highlight for the mediocre Stage racer. My guys having a go and getting in breaks is nice - they are giving me some cheer on that stedy inevitable slide to the black hole.

Cannot see Andy losing this really - though Dumbo is doing an Alarcon like ride.

I betted a lot of money twice on Ponzi, but the time he wins it isn't possible to bet on him. Too bad really...

Jerome Coppel is having a nice race, and if not for those two beasts he would have won the stage. 3rd is still nice though. Also for once we are on the offense instead of just sitting in the pack trying to control things, which is also decent. But Spilak is simply too slow to react. He should be with Bakelants and Ponzi on a stage like this - Especially this late in the race. Not that 1'13" would be worth much, but atleast then he would get some points instead of this.

Coppel ALMOST up to the pointsgiving KOM places, but unfortunately it will stay like that. Other than that there's not a lot to report. Novak and Vasyliv a minute, which is OK. They are both going to fall down quite a bit now they don't have to be in front anymore I think. I can only hope that they will both be around 30-35th in the end of the race. Novak being already 6 minutes behind 30th will have a struggle, but Vasyliv might have a shot if he climbs well enough. The long TT could set him back a bit though, while Novak could go up a spot.

The one stage where Lammertink should have been in the breakaway and we send Mollema.

Also, it's too bad Gerts won't get to finish his first Tour de France.

Sorry about that, I've been really busy in the last few days with awards and real life too, but bets for Tour and Battenkill will be back today or tomorrow.

That was OK, glad not to lose any time on the hills. Bit of a sexist stage though, IMO.

Pity Grand had to leave the race before getting into the final week. He showed a promising performance until then.

Hope to see Manfredi attack for a possible stage victory in one of the coming tough mountain stages. It hadn't been a bad, but a quiet race from him so far.

We need to join the breakaways, and there shouldn't really be any reason not to in this race with no GC rider and Kristoff out of the race.

Well done to Ponzi and Bakelants for being able to gap the peloton there, as the chase was clearly on. Congratulations on the win, FroomDog99!

Mollema isn't the worst rider to send into a BotD on a hilly stage, though. Lammertink would have been the best option, of course, but next to him Mollema is the best rider to send up the road I think.

But clearly only the very strongest were able to survive with that much pressure from behind.

My complaint is that Lammertink went into the breakaway in mountain stages where it clearly it would have been better for Van der Velde, Stancu or even Henao to be there. And in a stage where it could have actually counted, he doesn't make it.

I know. But atleast you get into breakaways - I usually don't. Atleast when I do I often get a decent result from it. Smile

See it as Team Sky AI.

The dominant team in many races usually is not going into breakaways but if they do, they have a proper rider in there and hence a good result.

Just like Coppel on that stage.

The bigger problem is teams like Aker. No rider neither for the finish or the GC and still struggle to get into breakaways. This is a lot more frustrating.

I agree... I had a similar problem in the Giro with a very similar setup. A decent sprinter and then a bunch of "nobodies" trying to get into breaks without the AI allowing them to do so. It's really frustrating and can mean the difference in getting away from the GT with 100 points or 300 points.

Great to see us having a major impact on the race, with two stage wins in close succession. Grmay's win was fantastic, and good to see him challenging for polka dots. Ponzi doing as expected and winning on the hills as well, keeping him in the hunt for a top 20 GC.

Thanks for the quality reports roturn.

Nice bit of luck there for Cataford getting in the winning break and bagging a nice amount of points despite looking in trouble throughout so nothing to complain about at all

Awesome third place for Netia. Smile
