Lincoln GP
Welcome to the Lincoln GP, now in it's fifth edition in the continental division. Last year Sebastian Langeveld made a long range attack to take a solo win, this year the Dutch rider isn't here and the only former winner of the startlist, Saramotins will likely fail to make a mark, meaning we should get to see a fifth new winner this time around.
Favourites: | CB | HL | FL | | CB | HL | FL | Bakari | 81 | 54 | 58 | Kurth | 75 | 64 | 73 | Thomas | 79 | 60 | 75 | Grashev | 75 | 69 | 68 | Bush | 78 | 62 | 74 | Turgot | 75 | 63 | 71 | Drucker | 77 | 65 | 74 | Marcos | 74 | 73 | 74 | Hristov | 77 | 63 | 72 | Takenouchi | 74 | 64 | 73 | Boonen | 76 | 64 | 76 | Walsleben | 74 | 67 | 72 | De Vocht | 76 | 56 | 75 | De Vreese | 74 | 72 | 74 | Lindeman | 76 | 64 | 73 | Field | 74 | 65 | 70 | Østergaard | 75 | 63 | 74 | Ingels | 74 | 64 | 73 | De Haes | 75 | 68 | 73 | Pozzato | 71 | 75 | 76 |
Most prominent here is last year's second place, De Maar will be a prime candidate for victory, he lacks the pure cobble ability of the others, but with only a short section of cobbles each lap and a hill will make his abilities as a puncheur a huge advantage.
Ignoring the obvious favourite Bakari, the best man on the cobbles is Thomas but he will have a hard time getting up the hill and will have to hope the cobbles have a very large impact on the race. Many other riders fall into a similar trap but will still be available for a good result, including Bush, Drucker, Hristov, Boonen, De Vocht, Lindeman, Østergaard, Kurth and Turgot, however with none of the best puncheurs having a great cobble stat these men will still be involved, in the fight for the win.
Instead those who can both punch and cobble should have a great chance to shine, De Haes and Grashev are the best of the cobblists who will be able to get up the hill, while Marcos and De Vreese even better fit this course and should be very good options for the win.
Finally given the number they came in, it's worth a mention to the pure puncheurs who showed up here, Pozzato is the only real cobblist here who could leave his mark while Taborre, Tiernan-Locke and Passalacqua are here as well and surely won't want to leave having done nothing.

Obviously Thomas should be our best bet. But never count against Grashev on such a course, he's historically done decently on these lumpier cobbles. And we've added Nardin who also could pop in a surprise. Ambitions for the podium, as per ususal

This is meant to be a goal for me, but no real cobbler on the team makes me facepalm every time I see it.
Can't remember who else I brought other than Ngandamba, so any chance of a Startlist?

Looking at previous races the hilly cobbled section will only serve to make it harder and less likely for someone not named Thomas, Bush or Drucker to win this. I'll take Thomas of the trio going solo with Drucker winning a sprint for 2nd out of a small bunch.

Never underestimate Saramotins! Still one of the sweetest wins in team history

Hoping for a result. I will retcon which result is good enough to satisfy me after the fact.

Sorry about that, forgot to include it and went to sleep. Added it in now though.

This might be more suited to Backaert and Naesen than Bush for WCC depending upon the significance of the gradient kicking in on Michaelgate. Goodnews also has the potential to be in the points. Hoping for a strong ppRD showing here from the lads.

I said don't underestimate Grashev! 4th for him is a good result. Thomas struggled but that was kind of expected on the route, and he's been good enough elsewhere so i'll give him a pass. Had hoped Nardin would be slightly better but again he was about right for his skill, so no complaints.
Overall, satisfied.

Well, that is a result that satisfies me in the end. Of course with how strong De Maar looked, I really wanted him to win it, and he might of if not for that silly move on the flat. Nevertheless, I'll take second here. The team worked really well out there and Boonen snags 9th which isn't bad for him on the hilly course.

Great race for the Minions, five riders scoring points, Marcos third and close to the victory! Thanks trekbmc for the report and congrats Ferrero!

Damn nice!!! Pippo = GOD
Had low hopes after very dissapointing race in Sachsen-Anhalt by Pozzato but this was much much better! Guess the hill played a very big role like earlier in the season.
