Thanks for the preview jph27, short but good enough for me, Top5 for Trofimov would be nice, hopefully the support team can help out longer than Amstel where Trofimov was alone too fast.

Missing the first split wasn`t ideal. Coming back was needed.
Though even then not able to keep contact with the others and only 17th.
There are about 4-5-6 riders he should be able to beat normally with his stats. So at least a bit closer to top10 would be appreciated...
Hopefully De Bie now got bad daily form in both Amstel and Fleche and for once will be stronger in the Ardennes and other hilly classics...
Villella and Schachmann at least with decent 30-50 places. |

Prevar though!
Guess he is justifying his San Sebastian victory from last season, being better than LLS and Cunego is quite big! That said, I am not too displeased with 21st and 22nd, but had kinda hoped for a top 20.

Koretzky in 11th is about what to expect I think. But a horrible team performance...
Congrats to Puma who once again manages to get a better result than anticipated. They must be closing the gap to Becherovka and Evonik by now.

Congratulations, cio! Amazing stuff from Kelderman. Guess that win will rank very, very high on an imaginary list of your best MG wins/best feelings in MG
And thank you for the report and the effort, jph27.
-----------------------------------------
Just when I had convinced myself it couldn't get much worse than Amstel, where I thought luck in positioning played a key to EBH being bad. Here he was in the right move and on the right place. But completely lacking the legs, and getting dropped with a full minute in a hill sprint, was something new. It's kind of heartbreaking.
Can only look forward and hope he one day wakes up and finds his proper classics legs again. They certainly won't come easy. |

What the actual fuck is wrong with EBH
He literally has no "wrong" stat that would potentially weaken him, yet he's the best puncheur by far, has great acceleration and pretty good sprint and yet he can't even top 15 a race like Fleche... Must be so sad for ember and I totally understand him.
Too bad Ponzi didn't catch the right form today, he clearly suffered a bad day, which certainly Kelderman didn't have! Looks just like PCM gives the win away to whoever is ahead at the last km mark in these steep uphill sprints... awful AI. That said congrats to cio, Kelderman has been doing wonders in PCT and even with an unspectacular season start he manages to turn the season around single-handedly thanks to this I'd say
Trofimov and Bakelants also consistent as ever but we'll imagine that both "couldn't quite find the punch" to overtake the Dutchie in the last meters!

Oh wow. That needs a while to settle. And the best way to settle is by BANANA DANCE ... oh wait.
That. Was. Something. What a timing for a great daily form and for such a course of the race.
Starting the Mur at the front is huge luck, but if that early effort means you bonk there of all places, you can go straight back to 10th too. (so I slightly disagree with you matt)
ember, you're absolutely right, this is special for so many reasons:
- Back in our first PT stint with Bennati as our only win rider, his wins were necessary to survive, not just a cherry on top.
- Kelderman started his career with us in our very first year of existence. I believe that in every year since 2013, he's been our best puncheur, which also says a lot about the drought we had in hilly races for most of the time. (I remember a Delage breakaway win in a 2012 classic but that was probably it). The amount of time and money invested in him is unreal.
- His training was a focal point of our future plans from the day I knew we were gonna be PT again, and I was very unsure for most of the time whether that would be the right way to spend 3.1 million €...
Thanks a lot to everyone congratulating and being happy - or at least not angry - about this result too (and thanks+congrats to wacko for the bet ), and sadly again commiserations to ember for whatever THAT was...if there was someone I hadn't minded getting past Wilco in the last metres, it would've been EBH.
Thank you to jph for the good and suspensful report!
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here:
Huge success!
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction

Skujins looked strong again - always being in the front groups and initiating an attack himself (?) on a descent. Not really hapy about the final result but at least he finished in the top ten.
Huge result for cio! Congrats mate!

Happy about the performance from Juul-Jensen. Another solid race from him.
Huge congrats to cio, great win from Kelderman that.
Have to feel sorry for ember, shocking result from EBH. Hopefully he can turn the bad run of form in LBL. Strange how he "always" misses in the classics.

Shame Ponzi didn't seem to be positioned greatly towards the end but 6th isn't too bad I guess. Another Ardennes triple was always unlikely.
Congrats to cio on the surprise win. Onto Liege. |

Well, LLS was up there in the front group nearing the end, being in the break would be nice, but no complaints from me, being beaten by not one, but two Ukraine riders is poor though. Congrats on the win Cio, great to see Kelderman performing for you. And thanks for the report jph!

Didn't expect that. Congrats to Wilko and cio.
Boring, but effective race from TVG. Stay in the peloton, follow the right split and sprint for 5th. Can't complain.

Thanks for the continued kind words, and I just realized Silvio got into the Top 30 too
Very nice result, proving me right to not just put him in mountain races. I can't wait for his big jump this off-season.

Congrats cio! Great win for Kelderman, who I'd love to see become a top rider in the MG.
Another good performance by Ginanni; I'm starting to really like this guy! Without him our season would've been pretty bleak so far. Rest of the the team had a bit of an off-day though, but I can't really complain after what happened in AGR.
This Hagen situation is super strange. The chance of him getting this many bad daily forms in a row is very small by now. Bad luck ember.
Nice report jph, thanks!
