Let's face it - after the season end disaster at Lombardy for the Schleck bros - it was really nice for SN that Andy grabbed the bands.
It will be interesting to see whether he matches up againts Pluichkin more times next year, for once the Moldovan was found wanting. It is nice in a way we have a WTF Sella performance - wierd race not what I would have expected at all.
Good worls everyone and thanks as ever to all involved.
Now for that party...

Tragic to see such a hard route come down to a sprint finish, to be honest.
Congrats to SN anyway, and thanks for a great report, roturn.

Great report roturn. Nice to see Andy take that win.
Madrazo I thought, that he would win it. Strong Team, strong climber. Also he saved his energy until the end.

Well just as everyone predicted I guess. Pluchkin probably coming too tired from the really successful TT he's had. Although from that to finish below Nibali, Denifl and Intxausti... Can't win everything right? Spilak 1 step below than usual but oh boy how consistent, Madrazo average as usual, Schleck flawless. As usual.
Sella though. Until Schleck started his sprint I thought he could very well keep it up till the finish line.
IMHO the most boring (least exciting?) WC race of all, sadly. Still a good read, great report again roturn. The last kilometer was still a thrilling sprint. Congrats to SN, guess this partly makes up for that heartbreaking 2nd place
...told you we had to go for Aosta

I'm pleased that Sweden tried to more then once even it was no realistic chance of getting anything in this race.
Thanks for reporting you guys and congrats SN, Avin, roturn and tsmoha for your gold medals |

Not the kind of race I was expecting. It was really underwhelming to see such a big group come together to the finish.
Anyway great victory Schleck, congrats. Thanks for the lively report, roturn
Anonymous day for Machado, but at least he managed to appear in some screens

Beautiful report, roturn. Amazing.
But Pluchkin defeated after all. Still, Andy Schleck
And an unrelated question I hope someone can answer: can I download this WC variant somewhere? I want to use this, beautiful WC scenery for climbers! |

Interesting result from Sella, but nothing we wouldn't expect from Schleck after the year he's had. Congrats SN. Glad to see Amador being so active, but it looked like he petered out quite a bit. Great race!

Yeah, Spain controlling it and for what. Should have taken a page out of Italy's book and been on the offensive.
A worthy winner in a strange race though. Thanks Roturn, nailed the report.

Valls making things rather interesting. If only he had got away early on in the race then that could have been decisive. As in the TTT he also did his job chasing here, although for a disappointing result from Madrazo, shouldn't have picked him.

Massive congrats to SN on the WC win! Schleck will wear the Rainbows proudly in 2016 - I really thought Sella had it though... so close for him.
Great report roturn and nice end to the WC races!

Thanks for the report and early birthday present roturn! Very nice to have a Schleck World Champion - taking perhaps his only opportunity of the rainbow jersey. Not in particular style, but making it through the lottery finish perfectly.
Partly a shame to see not such a destructive race, but partly good that it meant an outcome where any number of riders could have won. Sella winning would have been quite something.

Nice wins by Schleck and Olivier, guess these guys have some Boers-blood running through their veins! While the younger ones left nothing to chance, the big stars turned their race into a jeopardy.
Vontobel riders were constantly finishing in the middle of the field all over these world championships. Only Dario Cataldo was an exception winning with the Italian TTT team.
Thanks for reporting the final WC races, roturn and trekbmc!

Wow
Thought Sella would be used as a helper mainly. Never thought it would turn out this way. I'll probably never come this close to win the MG WC again. I'm quite disappointed right now, as he was so close to winning, but on a mountain finish like that always one of the best climbers would win. In Aosta a brave attack like that might have been rewarded especially from an Italian.
Of course Schleck is also a worthy winner, so congrats SN. All your efforts for this game makes it right having the rainbow striped jersey in your team.
This is still by far the best result from a rider of my team since its foundation, but atm it doesn't really feel that way as it was so close.
Thanks for the thrilling report roturn anyways. |
