It's fair to say that there hasn't been a packed calendar of CT racing so far. Just the 3 stage races (1 of which was C2HC), backed up by 3 C2HC classics and the San Cristobal opener. Of course there has been the C1 races too, where CT teams have attended to varying degrees of success.

Severstal-Mercator won the season opener but they did not lead the standings, as Fablok-Dunlop outscored them. They extended their lead with a fine performance at the Tour Down Under, but could not end the month as #1, with SanCor backing up a creditable Tachira performance with victory at the Great Ocean Road Classic.

January scores:

Next on the calendar was the biggest race to date, Benelux Challenge. Strava top scored there and become 'Rankings KoM' as a result. They got their win at Geraardsbergen-Bosberg and were the top scorers in February, despite the efforts of teams at the longest race to date, Tour of the Middle East.

Strava remain the leaders now, and already with a 100 point lead is quite a good advantage at this stage. Aidis Kruopis is the man leading the pursuit from Indosat-ANZ, and they take 2nd ahead of one of the division top favourites Compal-Merida.

4th place is held by Generali while the final promotion spot currently goes to Lierse after their C1 triumph at Dwars Door Vlaanderen. Carlsberg are flying high in 6th while Netia-Norske are ahead of Polish rivals Fablok-Dunlop despite the latter's never ending ability to take stage wins. Sancor, In-n-out and Delaval take up the remaining Top 10 positions.

Despite having race wins, Severstal and Alpina only find themselves in 15th and 16th, though they have races less than many other teams. Fred Whitton have races the most and can only manage 18th place - meanwhile Elta havent even scored any points yet after only riding 2 classics so far.

Joining the Greeks at the bottom of the table are Sodexo, Type 1 and Novatek. A familiar position for Novatek, and one they had surely hoped to be leaving behind this year. Relegation PCT team Belarusbank are also off to a sluggish start in 20th.

There's a big jump on the projected standings as DeLaval lead the way here, moving out of their current mid-table position. Strava, Generali and Lierse stay in their promotion positions, while Fablok are another climber and hit the top 5.

Compal-Merida are the biggest fallers here, down 7 to 10th, while Indosat are also dropping quite a bit. Still they remain in the Top 10. Besides Delaval and Fablok, the biggest climbers are Alpina, Novatek and Severstal.

Victory at Benelux Challenge and points elsewhere gives us the unusual situation of Carlsberg topping a standing. Aidis Kruopis has gone well so far in 2nd, ahead of Langeveld, Vastaranta and the C1 victor Joseph.

Rudy Molard is the highest placed rider without a victory in 7th place.

Well that's certainly very optimistic news. I don't think we'll stay up there, but it's certainly nice. And that's considering we would be higher on PpRD if Koep hadn't crashed out of Mid East, giving us 12 useless RD.

Had been looking forward to the first ranking update as it felt like the season had started very well for the team, including victory in an important stage race, but 15th place in the rankings is a little bit of a disappointing surprise. However the PpRD rankings look more promising and hopefully, with a pleasing drought of time-trials until mid-June, we can edge up towards the top 10 and possibly even the top 5!

Decent start to the season for us, although PPRD is a little worrying. Saying that, we're only just now racing our first objective, so I'm hopeful of a nice finish. Generali and Delaval shaping up as favourites and rightly so, but I still see Compal finishing top 5.

Thanks for the update SN, have been looking forward to it.

PPRD is looking pretty good and with this going 5th in that table is not bad indeed Smile Also Matt it was two 1's Wink

Zielinski being a positive surprise that high and sadly Berard seems to be my mistake in the Transfer Window. Durasek and Lavoine still need to start their perspective seasons and haven't scratched the surface yet.

I can see that some stage races and classics will be within our reach, which makes it easier to look for more than just stage wins. The AI is both fantastic for my team and then not at all. Cause Lejman and Berard seems to be my leaders, however the game doesn't rate them that high :/

With Strava's squad they really needed to be in that spot, however seeing Belarus, Novatek and Severstal down in the bad end, I think that being a similar team kinda screams for a bad omen in the future. Hopefully we will keep our PPRD and end up somewhere in Top 10 Smile

Brings me to that little fear of your team doing bad and doesn't give back your expectations, however our presence so far suggest both ups and downs in the future. Really enjoyed this updated and hopefully April will be a good race for Langkawi to bring some results Smile

I'm happy with where we are sitting at the moment. Not bottom and not in the bottom 6. Lets hope we can stay 19th or better!!

Also if we get in the bottom few places is there a penalty?? Like having to leave the game or do we just get to continue if SN says we can?? Unsure on this point..

As someone that's finished really low down the rankings in the CT previously I can confirm that as long as you stay active enough then you stay in the game. There aren't mandatory disbandment's due to finishing position, though you will probably fail your standings goal and if you succeed or fail your goals does have some financial impact on how much budget you get on top of your wage allocation.

Just to be precise I finished 19th out of 22 in my first season (and turned down promotion at the end of it, meaning Credexbank promoted instead despite finishing 20th because there were that many disbandment's in my first season) but bounced back to finish 12th and gain promotion (again thanks to disbandment's).

Now to get back to the original topic, It's nice to see our friends at Strava, where we have loaned Muhlberger for the season, on top of the rankings, hopefully they're good start is indicative of a strong season and with them projected to finish second I'm going to be cheering them on in their title push.

The rest of the current podium is teams I like aswell. It's nice to see Bjartne's compal squad getting some rankings success as I've been a fan of his sides whilst they have ben struggling at the bottom of the PCT the last couple of seasons, a role we've now inherited from them. And our fellow South East Asians Indosat currently sitting in second who we hope we can be long term allies in improving the standard of cycling in the region. Hopefully these 2 sides can continue to do well throughout the season and finish closer to where they are now then where the projected rankings have them slipping down to.

At the other end of the standings I'm hoping that Belarusbank can start flying soon after promoting in 2013 when we turned down the chance. I feel like they are in a position we could have been in and as such we have every sympathy for them and want to see them improve.

With us only having 3 C2 outings this year our main interaction with this division will be when they come up to C1 level to mix it up with our fellow PCT teams but it was nice to drop down for the TotME.

Unfortunately that means the longest of our C2 trips is already over but we look forward our remaining to C2 races when we get another chance to take on the CT divisions best in their races and we'll no doubt be seeing a lot of you stepping up to face us in our C1 races before then.

Bjartne
3rd is about where we want to be. Not happy about the PPRD but I hope we will strongly improve that at a later stage. Thanks for the update!

trekbmc
7th and predicted 7th, predictions 3rd and 8th, so I'm good, although I'm near the top on race days so far, Most of my goal races and my races with best teams and Zeits, hilly races, etc. are near the mid-end season, so hopefully I can climb a bit. Smile Maybe if we get some wins as well.

Also winning of the Polish teams Wink

Still in the top 10, which would be great for us. Let's hope for some more points in the coming months, though. January was fantastic, February not so much.

Shonak
F yeah!

Very pleased to see us top the February and overall rankings so far, with quite a lead as well. February was a strong month for us and looking at the downward spiral in March recently, we really needed that one. I'm hopeful for the coming months as well, quite some cobbled C2 races still coming up and the guys should do fine in most classics as well. Only stage races worry me a little but we may get a stage win now and then.

Thanks for the prompt updates SN!

A bit of a slow start but we haven't raced much this year and most of our races are in the C1 category. I am happy with Mezgec sitting in the top 30 in the rider rankings as well.

Thank you SN for the update

I'm happy with that 5th, end the season now please Smile

Well, that C1 win of course explains the high position, and with the way Trentino is unfolding, we'll probably drop a bit. Still, Peeters still needs to get a big result somewhere and Pelucchi can also do better I think. Fight on guys!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Heine
Strava doing really well, while DeLaval leads pprd. The difference there is small though, so I would prefer to be in Strava's position. Better to have the points secured

Carlsberg pretty high in the rankings, must be a bug?

matt17br
This is so much higher than expected Shock
Molard's impact is huge at the moment but I reckon most of his points come from the 2nd place at Benelux I think.

Strava with an expected 1st place so far, but had to be expected after THAT February.

Didn't know Compal raced that much already, might be an important factor as they definitely have the strongest squad overall.

Severstal, wow. Would have ranked them in the top 5 after the first quarter of the season but I was terribly wrong as it seems.

Poor Elta, nice to see they started scoring at Trentino to say the least.

All in all, this is kind of proving me right. It was a better decision not to buy a very expensive point scorer in my first season and rather go for a solid squad.

Thanks for the detailed heads up SN!

Mixed feelings here..

Being down in 16th is definetely not what we wanted, but even looking at the PpRD, we're just outside the Top10.

However, I'm not that surprised. Bole didn't race much yet and Mendes only had one race fitting him, which he won. When those guys will start to bring the points, things are gonna change hopefully.
In fact, Hirt and Kasa are the guys with the most points for my team. That should explain stuff.
