Weekly News #54
NewsI hope you all enjoyed Milano - San Remo. I didn't - I was stuck in a summer cottage in a dark part of Denmark which has never even heard of the word "internet" and / or  "Eurosport" ;) Anyway, I hope you're all enjoying the Easter. If not, here's the 54th edition of the Weekly News ;)

Beta tests to start next week
I got "back together" with Clément Pinget last week - something which PCMBenelux obviously have much harder with for some reason :P - and he told me that the beta tests of Pro Cycling Manager 2008 are probably going to begin in the upcoming week. The beta testers are most probably going to have to sign a non-disclosure contract, meaning that you won't be able to pressure us - the beta testers - to tell anything ;) And if you manage to do it anyway you can always use the information to get the beta tester fired. Believe me, I've tried ;)

ECDB closes down
The German database team, ECDB, which has been pretty much invisible for PCM07, but was a quite popular team when making databases for PCM 06, has closed itself down. The lead person of the ECDB-team, Andi, has lost motivation - so, it's now closed down, including the English forums which until now has been our main rival ... with their 10-20 posts ;)

UCI NG DB - not a 08 DB!
Yep, it has happened. It's Friday evening when I'm writing this, and at this point I'm yet to add a 2008 database to the download section. How amazing and unbelieveable is that? ;) Instead, I've had the pleasure of adding an imaginary database, the UCI NG DB. It's a DB made by our friend Rasmu89, Pereiro89, Evans89 and what else the guy has been calling himself the past few years. As said, it's a "partly" imaginary database. It has real riders, but no real teams. Instead, we have teams such as "Aldi Markt", "Red Bull", "Seat", etc.. With the package you get jerseys, mini-jerseys, accesories, etc. to give you the feel of actually having a "new world of cycling". So, if you're looking for something new, try this by downloading it here.

More new save games
In one week, we have received three new save games to use with PCM 07. The first one is submitted by mrlol and is based on PCM Spain. Mrlol has led Quick Step to victory in "pretty much all Pro Tour-races". The World Championship in Belgium is coming up, and everyone are expecting your rider, Tom Boonen, to win the jersey on the flat parcours. If you're interesting in taking over, download it here - if you rather want to see how mrlol is doing with his team you can read his story here.
The 2nd one is rather amazing. Shaft, a Danish member of the site, has submitted a save game which is in ... 2017 - yep, that's right. It is actually possible to get that far in PCM. The save game is based on the PCMGeeks DB, and you are controlling a CSC-team which is actually Danish. There's lots of Danish riders on the team including a (Danish) World Champion. This season, however, has not been too good, and the team will have to get some good results in the Tour de France which is just about to start - otherwise, 10 seasons of leading CSC is over. Keep in mind that there's a whole lot of information stored in the save game. This means that it's remarkably slower than normally, and especially on the 1st of July and the 1st of January it will take between 5 and 10 minutes (maybe longer) to proceed to the following day. If you're still interested it's downloadable from here.
Last, but not least, we have our Tinkoff end-2008 game which is submitted by rjc_43. You're in August, the national championships have just been ridden, and there's still time for transfers although some have already been done. Contador signed for the team for this season and won the Tour de France ahead of Schleck by less than 0 seconds - so, you've got something to live up to for the upcoming season. The save game is based on the PCM Spain DB, and you can download it from here.

Keep in mind that you can submit your own save game by going to this thread.

New site soon to be opened
This is more of a "personal" message. I, CrueTrue, have been working on a new website for a while now. It's about my favourite band, the Gin Blossoms. Since there wasn't really any fanpage for them I thought I'd have to start my own, so for the past few months (it's been going so slowly ;)) I've been adding live material, etc. to the site, and it's now about to open - the domain will be http://www.gbfan.net , but it hasn't opened yet.
I don't hope it will have any effect on my time here since it's more of a one-time job (compared to this one which is almost full time :P).

PCM.daily is searching for a programmer
With 7500 users it should be possible to find just one programmer. PCM.daily is now searching for a programmer who's willing to help out the site by making a few new features. The current crew got lots of ideas, but don't have the neccessary skills needed to make the ideas real :) Therefore, if you're interested, send me, CrueTrue, a Private Message or contact me through the "Contact" form, MSN or E-Mail.
We don't have any specific requirements (except programming skills), so just apply if you feel you will be able to help us.

Thanks in advance.
PCM.daily's 08 DB race list made public!
News

With Fabian Cancellara finally taking his second monument by winning this evening's Milan - San Remo in amazing style, there's not any better moment to go on presenting the new features of the PCM.daily's 08 DB. Today we're making public the official race list. Lacking a couple of races I'd have liked being added 8the game simply can't handle more than 735 stages), we got a great mix of races from five continents, including the entire professional calendar plus a nice bunch of .2 races and national events. Click on "Read More" to find it out.

PCM.daily's 08 DB Team Objectives | Some new pics into the photoalbum
News
Hello,

The PCM.daily's DB-team offers you a chance you mustn't lose. We're in a need for help to build the teams' goals for this year's database so we'd like you to arrange them. If they're reasonable, they'll be definately included into the package and you'll be given credits. Click here and follow the instructions we're giving you. And remember: check the first post to ensure the team you're going to do hasn't been claimed yet. If it you still want to do it, try to improve the existing one.

Good luck and thx so much!

We've uploaded some new pics to the photoalbum, showing some stats and the new minijerseys showcase. Check them out clicking here.
Weekly News #53
NewsWith Rebellin winning the Paris-Nice, the first important cycling race has ended. It's time to relax, and there's of course no better way of relaxing than reading the Weekly News here at PCM.daily ;)

7th 2008 DB
A few weeks ago, I said that we wouldn't have one week without a new 2008 database, and this week is no exception. The French guy, Freire02, has released a package with a database by him and graphics by Tourdedoping, known from this forum. Compared to some of the other packs, it's rather small and only contains the most neccessary things - but then again, that can be a good thing ;) I don't know if it's any good, but you can give it a try by downloading it here.

World Cup groups announced
As some of you may have noticed, Nebula, a rather unknown French guy, is hosting the official World Cup in Pro Cycling Manager 2007 this year. Although there have been a lot of problems ever since the first announcement - for example the fact that announcements often only are posted in French - the list of groups have now been announced, and the first groups are going to battle it out from the 21st until the 28th of March. You can view the groups at the official forum. A quick look-through of the list of participators, it doesn't seem like PCM.daily is majorly represented ;)

Sisbos_02 releases graphical update
Sisbos02, known from the official forum, has released the first edition of his graphical package which is supposed to change the look of PCM dramatically. As far as I can see (on the screenshots), the update makes the general appearance of the game more blue. You also get a bunch of other updates. For example, you get a lot of Miya's material (helicopter, updated frame, etc.), a photo pack by Andecal23, a new newspaper look, a new background -- and a bunch of other stuff. The file size is 139 MB, so, well, it should contain quite a lot of stuff. You can download it right here where you can also see some screenshots.

Some people have been reporting that it makes the game crash, no matter which DB you're using. So, be careful. Sisbos_01 has reacted to this by releasing a small file which you can download here. Some people have said that it doesn't fix the problem, though, so it's a bit risky to install it ;)

Get yourself a Cyanide cycling jersey
The moderator of the official French forum, sebduth, has announced a cycling jersey which is made by Cyanide. It's available for c. 35 € (for some reason, it's +/- 35 €), and for those money you get a red/white/black cycling jersey with Cyanide's and Focus' logos on. If you're interested in buying it, go to this thread and write your name, how many shirts you want and in what size you want it / them in. In the same link, you can also see the "digital" version of the jersey.
I wonder if Cyanide is out of funds? ;)

PCM.daily's DB-team becomes reality! | New pics for the PCM07 PCM.daily's DB
News
It's confirmed - PCM.daily are forming a database team! Daniel Sánchez (yes, that's me) has officially left the PCM-Spain development team as lead database maker (even though he'll be still helping out as much as possible and running the website as an administrator). That means the PCM.daily's 08 DB won't be a 1-time project - the DB-making will go on in PCM08! Expect the same way of working to be kept here. Also, Roger Coll (known as Roger in PCMS and rogercoll/cstoner27 in other international boards) will keep alive the PCMS db team as lead DB'eur - I wish he has the best possible luck as the one behind my steps, since he's a very nice bloke and a true workaholic (so am I :P ).

At this moment, the DB-team is just Dankan, and then everyone who's eager to cooperate... but we're counting on you. We're looking for the best workers around here in order to make a stable development team - even people from other boards (over andere fora/desde otras páginas/dans autres communautés/da altri siti). Everyone who's capable to prove he's an experienced worker at his own task is welcome. We hope to build a strong team to make a great db in PCM08 (as long as the new game does not prevent us from doing so). Just tell me, using the appropiate ways, such as PM or e-mail - we just want to see who's willing to help next year, specially when it comes to graphic artists.

----

Anyway: we've added some new pics to the photoalbum, showing sorted stats for the most important abilities (Nountain, Hills, Timetrialling, Cobblestones and Sprinting). Note that we've brought the highest values down, to get more realistic results. This is not what you would be sure waiting for - however, we still cannot show you in-race pics till we ensure the graphical appearance is as good as we're looking for it to be. Look at the images by clicking here.
