New PCM.daily's DB photo album! | The PCM.daily DB dev-team's looking for help!
We've recently opened a new photo album, containing some pictures of the PCM.daily's 08 DB development. We cannot ensure it will be up-to-date, but expect some new added photos from time to time. For the time being, you can see some of the new routes for the 3 GT's and major stageraces, plus a showcase of one of the best teams in the DB; not too much, but enough to fulfill the expectations. To enter the photoalbum, click here.
By the way: the project is going slowly, but smoothly. I think we've gone almost half of the way left, but don't expect the DB to be released too soon. As you know, I'm never giving a release date till I'm really sure there's nothing that can make us overcame it. But it's sure it will be released before the new game's in the shelves ;)

At last, we'd like to request some help from our users. The project is going well but, unfortunately, we can't do everything by ourselves. We're looking to get some users to work on ridersphotos. If you have decent Photoshop knowledge, you'll sure know how to do them. Just read this topic in the forum, pay attention to the instructions, and call for the teams you're able to do. We'll be pleased to count on you.
... of Cyanide's new game, Blood Bowl. Hah, I got you there ;) Cyanide is currently working on a new game which is called Blood Bowl. It seems to have a huge fan base, because it's based upon an old game with the same name - so this might be Cyanide's new "hit" / best seller. To me, it looks quite a lot like the old Brutal Sports Football for Amiga. It's set to be released in Q3, and it will be released for PC, XBox, Playstation Portable and Nintendo DS. Several screenshots and videos have been released to the public, and Cyanide is now inviting members of the official forum to participate in official multiplayer beta tests. There are few requirements to your PC: - At least 1 GB of RAM - Graphic Card of at least GeForce 6 - A processor of at least 3 GHz
And a few non-PC requirements: - A knowledge of the tabletop game and a desire to play the turn-based version of the computer adaptation (no real-time implemented in this version) - Being available to play at the very least 2 games a week (the more the better). A game lasts between 30 mns and 2 hours (depending how quick both players are) and you will have to play full games. - Your internet connection will have to be relatively stable (broadband is also a minimum) - Be willing to spend the time necessary to forward us the bugs found and discuss them in the forum.
Send an e-mail with your application to bloodbowl@cyanide-studio.com including a dxdiag of your computer. The testing will start in about a week. But hurry up, the thread has already reached three pages on the official forum ;)
1 week without, 1 week with -- here's the Weekly News.
Not a week without a new 2008 database.. Two weeks ago, we mentioned two new 2008 databases which had been released to the public - and both didn't really get much / any positive response. This week, Wanka84, who's also a member of this site, released the first version of his 2008 database. Unlike other database makers, his goal wasn't to make a complete 2008 datbase with lots of graphical add-ons - he just wanted to create a small database with updated teams and riders and with the needed jerseys. And mission accomplished, it seems. For once, our demanding members did actually rate it quite well, and for my own experiences I can only say that it does its job really well. So, there you go -- the first 2008 database worth downloading is here. You can download it by following this link.
TITAN 05 released After about 1 year of working on the DB, T-Photon finally decided to release his TITAN 05-project for PCM2007 - although he had decided to skip the beta testing. That also meant that the first couple of days after the release was marked by people reporting several different problems, and some of them have still not been fixed. Anyway, the project is a historical DB project based on the year of 2005. It's called "TITAN" because of its many teams (145) and riders (c. 2000). It also has new equipment, new training camps, c. 300 races and a lot more -- it's probably the largest (historical) DB released for PCM07. For the same reason, the problems were somewhat expected. You can download the "main" file here (461 MB) and the patch here.
The DB-tool we've all been waiting for Aab-ern, founder of PCMScandinavia.com and crew member at this site, has created a tool which we have all been waiting for without knowing it -- a 1 Click DB Changer. It's a pretty simple program which makes it possible to have several database installed at the same time without having to reinstall the game everytime you want to switch databases. It's simple and easy to use once you've understood the read me included with the program. You can download it here, and an even better version is expected to be released today or tomorrow.
More save games Are you the kind of guy who never finishes the first season of a PCM-career? Well, here's your chance to get it done in about 5 seconds. Other PCM-players gladly spend days and weeks on their careers, and few of them then submit their save games to PCM.daily. During the past couple of weeks, we have received two new save games. The first one is a Gerolsteiner-game. Gerolsteiner had a fantastic 2007 season, winning all the three grand tours + a couple of classics. The game is based on a modified version of the PCM Spain DB, and the editing has above all resulted in the return of Ivan Basso. You can read more about it here where you can also download it. The other new save game is a Quick Step save game - the 2nd Quickstep-based save game which we have received. In the 2007 season they managed to win the green jersey of Tour de France, a top ten spot in TdF and the Vuelta - and Boonen pretty much dominated all the classics. For the 2008-season, they have signed Contador. As with the Gerolsteiner-game, this is also based on the PCM Spain DB. Go ahead and download it right here :)
Get a beautiful PCM-shirt... As time has went by, more and more shirt makers have registered and started posting their works. Now, they are also opening up for shirt requests, meaning that you can request them to do a jersey of your wish - and it doesn't even have to exist in reality. Several teams are awaiting your orders. First of all, we have our very own Smoothie who has created several jerseys for the management game. Get to his thread by following this link. Second of all, we have the Sensational GFX-team which is a colloboration between several of the best shirt designers around. Go to their thread and request right away :) Third of all, we have a general Shirts Request-thread which is being read by all the other shirt makers we have around here (including the-sim-ereaser, Brucht, etc.) -- they tend to be a bit more busy, but once their work is done you understand why; they really do make some fantastic looking shirts. Request here.
Site updates As I've mentioned before, I / we are always trying to improve the functionality of the site. Today I've added a forum function which will be very popular among story writers -- a so-called "float function", making it possible to adjust pictures to the right or left with text next to it. Before, you couldn't have text next to a picture. You can use the function by using the « (left-alignment) and » (right-alignment) tags. I'd like to thank PCMGeeks.dk for the idea and phpfusion.dk for the code. Other than that, I've been working on a new Latest Threads Panel for the frontpage. The new one only shows forum posts from the Transfer-forum of the Management Game, it's collapsable and it will save your preference once you've decided if it should be closed or not. I'll make it viewable for the public once the transfer season starts.
Today we can definately unveil a teamslist for the new PCM.daily's DB. 97 teams from five continents will be included in the new package. Just click on "Read More" fo find it out.
Well, it's not difficult to think that, if Addy resigned from his administrator privileges, all tasks he was in charge of would have fallen off. That won't happen: we are definately going to rebuild this one. I fortunately returned after a 2-month break because of some family problems and came back with strong motivation and enough... guts to make this work. So we (the crew, I mean) can announce there will be a PCM.daily 2008 DB for this year's Pro Cycling Manager 07-08. And I will be behind the project as lead DB-maker.
There's not too much to be shown still, so - no apethizers (as usual in last projects). What I can ensure is that quality standards will be kept in the same levels we get f. ex. in the PCM-Spain '07 Pack. It may be a little less huge than that one, but around 90 teams can be expected. To make sure that the release comes as soon as possible, we'll definately need a little cooperation, specially when it comes to jersey-makers. Everyone interested to help out can PM anyone from the crew to get into contact with the project and know more exactly what we are needing.
I hope this gives you a smile after a couple of bad news. I'm back! (if I ever was gone).
