Milan San Remo 2012
Fantasy Betting

Milan San Remo.

Three words enough to instil a sense of awe into a cycling fan, trepidation into a professional cyclist, and pure unadulterated longing into heroes of the cycling world, like Philippe Gilbert.

Two hundred and ninety eight kilometres long, containing the ascents of the Passo del Turchino, La Coletta, Piani di Invrea, and Capos Mele, Cervo and Berta before we hit the finale which every fan waits for year after year. The Cipressa, with 27 kilometres left to run sees the first main selection occur before the Poggio (di Sanremo) really drives the nail into the coffin.

But why waffle on about a course that remains largely un changed from season to season when I could be explaining the truly exciting aspect of this year’s Milan San Remo, and what it offers to YOU the eager PCM Daily Punter.

Read on to learn what’s new in your Betting World.

Cyanide using experiences of a former cyclist in PCM
Pro Cycling Manager 2012

From 2005 to 2009, the Frenchman Antoine Dalibard rode for the Bretagne continental team (currently known as Bretagne - Schuller) and his most notable results came in 2008, winning the Tour of Normandie and taking 4th in Paris-Bourges. But after retiring from cycling at the end of 2009, at the age of 26, his career has taken a new path, towards video game programming.

Since October, Dalibard has been working for Cyanide as part of their team working on PCM12, and in particular the Tour de France platform game for the PS3 and XBox 360. He has provided insight into what its really like to ride in the peloton, for example, the significant effect that the wind can have races - not a factor that Cyanide have particularly mastered in the past, but clearly something they have been working on for this year.

Clearly the Cyanide team do know quite a lot about how cycling works anyway - with many years of PCM under their belt - but having the added insight of a former professional will hopefully help lead to a more realistic game, which is what we all want!

Pro Cycling Manager 2012 - here's the new features!
Pro Cycling Manager 2012

We're just a little less than five months away from the release of Pro Cycling Manager 2012, and all we have about the upcoming game is a screenshot from December which may or may not show PCM12 - well, it's time to change that.

PCM.daily have interviewed the developers of the game and can now reveal the main new features of Pro Cycling Manager 2012. The game is still very much work in progress, though, so the info is not as detailed as it will hopefully be later in the process.

That being said - feel free to Read More to find out what to expect from the next version of our favourite game.

The Fantasy Cycling Season Begins!
PCM.daily's Fantasy Cycling

Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico are nearly upon us, which means the start of our Fantasy Cycling season using the Velogames.com website. There's some interesting changes to the system this year:

  • No points are given for final classification placings anymore - it's all about stage performances
  • Each team gets 12 transfers to use throughout the race. So mid-race tactics is increasingly important!
  • No longer are riders categorised in groups such as team leaders, sprinters, forcing you to pick a certain amount from each group - your selection is now completely up to you.

Otherwise the system is the same - you still have 100 points to spend on 9 riders.

The deadline for entering the Paris-Nice game is Midday GMT tomorrow, while you have a few more days for Tirreno-Adriatico. The PCMdaily league code for the website is 01075739. And you can read more information about it in CountArach's threads for Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico.

You can also place your bets on who will win Paris-Nice on our betting system. Alejandro Valverde and Tony Martin have the lowest odds (excluding Another Rider), will you go for them, or take more of a risk?
