Don't worry, FBI didn't get us (yet)
News

Update: It does seem like we angered some communities and Cyanide with the fake screenshots part of the joke. That's quite understandable when you think about it, and we apologize. No offence was intended.

Not a year without an April Fools joke, right?

We've had plenty of jokes over the year - everything from a certain girl singing "Friday, Friday" to a doped Johan Museeuw on the cover of Pro Cycling Manager.

This year we decided to let FBI shut us down using the take-down banner you get when you visit Megaupload.com. And it does seem like we got some of you.

Our loyal Thomas Dekker-fan Ruben even took it as far as creating a thread on PCMBenelux where he complains about the stupid Americans. He isn't the only one, though - I've seen people tricked in other communities, though (yes, I'm looking at you, Maddrengen).

But that's not all. Remember how we fooled PCMNorge back in 2010? Well, we took a few screenshots of PCM11, added a PCM12 logo and sent them to a few sites. Guess who was the only site to publish them? PCMNorge! Quite entertaining - again.

So - thanks for playing along again this year. It's been fun, and we're already looking forward to next year.

More details revealed about PCM12
Pro Cycling Manager 2012

As some of you probably noticed, PCM.daily revealed most of the major new features of the upcoming Pro Cycling Manager 2012 earlier this month.

Luckily, we didn't reveal everything - there's still a few tid-bits to enjoy while we're waiting for the game release in June

This time, Cycling Manager Italia has published an interview with the project manager of the game, Clément Pinget, and while we did already know most of what's said in the interview, there is, as I said, a few new details to report.

First of all, it appears the variants system will get an overhaul. The change means that you will be able to play variants in single race mode. It also means that you can add new variants at any time during a career - no database editing required.

The PCM.daily interview did mention changes to the gameplay, especially during mountain stages. The main theme, though, seems to be variety: Simply said, there's going to be lots of new possible scenarios during stages.

A minor detail is that Cyanide has reacted to the Contador situation - it's now possible to make rides unavailable for a certain period of time

What else? No changes to track (as we already knew), no changes to collissions system, no new animations, no Be a Pro-mode - although Cyanide did take "minor additions" from the console game.

More details to come? Yes, Clément Pinget reveals that PCM12 will feature one new game mode. He won't reveal what it's about yet, though.

Milan San Remo 2012
Fantasy Betting

Milan San Remo.

Three words enough to instil a sense of awe into a cycling fan, trepidation into a professional cyclist, and pure unadulterated longing into heroes of the cycling world, like Philippe Gilbert.

Two hundred and ninety eight kilometres long, containing the ascents of the Passo del Turchino, La Coletta, Piani di Invrea, and Capos Mele, Cervo and Berta before we hit the finale which every fan waits for year after year. The Cipressa, with 27 kilometres left to run sees the first main selection occur before the Poggio (di Sanremo) really drives the nail into the coffin.

But why waffle on about a course that remains largely un changed from season to season when I could be explaining the truly exciting aspect of this year’s Milan San Remo, and what it offers to YOU the eager PCM Daily Punter.

Read on to learn what’s new in your Betting World.

Cyanide using experiences of a former cyclist in PCM
Pro Cycling Manager 2012

From 2005 to 2009, the Frenchman Antoine Dalibard rode for the Bretagne continental team (currently known as Bretagne - Schuller) and his most notable results came in 2008, winning the Tour of Normandie and taking 4th in Paris-Bourges. But after retiring from cycling at the end of 2009, at the age of 26, his career has taken a new path, towards video game programming.

Since October, Dalibard has been working for Cyanide as part of their team working on PCM12, and in particular the Tour de France platform game for the PS3 and XBox 360. He has provided insight into what its really like to ride in the peloton, for example, the significant effect that the wind can have races - not a factor that Cyanide have particularly mastered in the past, but clearly something they have been working on for this year.

Clearly the Cyanide team do know quite a lot about how cycling works anyway - with many years of PCM under their belt - but having the added insight of a former professional will hopefully help lead to a more realistic game, which is what we all want!
