Story Spotlight: Hot Wheels - Porsche
Story News
What do you get when you cross a toy car company with an expensive automobile? Hot Wheels - Porsche by MrUfo87. It looked to be a failed idea from the start, but it has survived the ups and downs of story making for over a year now! Making it one of the last PCM11 stories to still be live and active.

From a young pathetic looking cycling team that found themselves being outmatched in every race to a group of guys that are constantly challenging for results, MrUfo87 is doing what every PCM player dreams of doing: taking a small development squad and turning them into the biggest team in the world.

Due to it’s longevity and rather limited following, Ian and I have decided to award Hot Wheels - Porsche and it’s creator MrUfo87 with the first complete Story Spotlight. Hopefully this brief overview will inspire you checkout the story for yourself. Click Read More to view the completed synopsis.
PCM14 Interview with Cycling Manager Italia
Pro Cycling Manager 2014

Cycling Manager Italia have conducted an interview with Cyanide about PCM 2014, with it's release now less than a week away. They asked questions about Career, Multiplayer and Gameplay, and you can read the full interview on their website.

A few of the questions cited examples of AI gameplay which Cyanide disagreed with, but some other questions did give some interesting answers:

  • For career transfers, you can now wait several days before making a choice, such as signing rider, to allow for simultaneous deals.
  • Automatic mode will be available in multiplayer - at least, unless it turns out that it is easier for players to gain Armada points by just using that mode, rather than actually playing.
  • Resistance stat has been fixed and will affect the yellow bar. A higher resistance means you can maintain a higher effort for a longer period of time.
  • The Stamina and Resistance stats will both be more affected by daily form this year. (Although the implication on Stamina is that it has no effect until after 200-220km, and of course, the majority of races in game are shorter than that).
  • The gameplay for cobbled and hill stages within stage races has been adjusted to make them more interesting and realistic.
Cycling Interviews
Interviews

As you might have read earlier, we(admins) have thought of something new to contribute to the site. The idea was actually from Rin, though.
PCMdaily will be interviewing cyclists and other people within the cycling world.
Of course we will ask the riders whether they have played PCM, but we also want some question input from you!

How exactly? Well, after recieving permission from the guys we want to interview, we will open a thread in the cycling section. Every PCMdaily member can think of questions to ask that specific rider.
You can post questions in the thread we opened, and we will pick the most interesting questions from the thread, and ask them. This should be around 10 questions, but it varies. Try to be creative, our intention is to ask questions that they haven't answered tons of times yet, we prefer 'unique' questions.

At this moment, we have already got permission for 6 interviews. We have already opened the threads for them.
The biggest name among them is, without a doubt, MSR winner
Gerald Ciolek, but Jempy Drucker, Andreas Stauff, Ryan Eastman and 'CORSO Sports Marketing'' leaders Joao Correia/Ken Sommer definitely deserve some of your time as well!

Don't wait too long though, you only have until next Wednesday to send in some questions!

PCM 2014 Presentation: What did we Learn?
Pro Cycling Manager 2014

Last Friday, a Pro Cycling Manager 2014 livestream presentation was held on Twitch with Eyolfur, the project manager of PCM14 at Cyanide. Failured did a great job to organise the event, and along with his 'that sound's great' catchphrase, he asked some questions throughout the 90 minutes, while Eyolfur showcased new additions to the career mode and the mountains AI, playing Stage 17 of this year's Tour de France.

The presentation covered topics such as:

  • New additions to career mode (Equipment, Transfers, Illnesses)
  • Simulations (Of actual races, and of multiple days in career)
  • The new automatic 'act like AI' mode
  • The tutorial mode
  • Changes to the AI
  • Multiplayer mode (Ports, LAN, Armada)
  • Stage/jersey compatability
  • 'Be a Pro' mode

Click 'Read More' to discover what information was learned, or alternatively you can watch the full 90 minute presentation on Cyanide's YouTube page, split into Part 1 and Part 2.

PCM.Daily Online Championships: Exciting times!

We're heading into some pretty exciting days, with the finals of the Track races coming up Monday through Wednesday. We'll find out soon who will conquer and who will fail. The Road Race events start next Saturday.

Old Classics Revisited

Two old stories have sprung back to life in the Pro Cycling Manager 2007 forum. They are SportingNonsense's DFL Extreme and rjc_43's Auber 93 - Bigmat. The revival of these stories was unexpected, to say the least, with the last updates being from around 2 years ago. We wish both writers the best of luck with their not-so-new stories!

PCM 14 Forums Open for Business!

With less than 2 weeks to the release, the Pro Cycling Manager 2014 forums have been opened. We've already seen several threads launched in the database, graphical, online, general and story forums.

May Story of the Month Results

Modern Times, Old Roads received the prize of Story of the Month, only a few days after the story came to an end. With 26 points, it came out on top of Team Novo Nordisk (18) and Karl Hammarling (15).

The New Story of the Month competition was a tight one. It was a head-on-head, with only 2 stories in the running. In the end The Front Seat took the win with a 2 point difference over Pushing Forward.

New Initiative

Friday, we launched a new initiative, called Story Spotlight. In this weekly segment, we put one story in the spotlight. After the first test, we are ready to launch the first real update on Wednesday. If you have a suggestion: send a PM to Mresuperstar or Ian Butler and explain shortly why said story deserves a week in the spotlight.

Thread of the Week

The General Career Discussion - PCM 14 was not the busiest thread this week, but it symbolizes the beginning of a whole new part of PCM.Daily. The PCM 14 forums have been opened and in the General Career Discussion thread we love to hear what you'll do when you get your hands on the new game!

ManGame: Breakaway Power

In the Giro del Trentino, stage 3 belonged to the breakaway. In an exciting report by baseballlover312, we saw the General Classification get overthrown completely. In the first mountain stage of the race, a group of six riders rode away early in the stage. Against all expectations, they stayed clear of the bunch and in an uphill thriller João Cabreira came out on top. After three stages, he's now leading the General Classification, before his breakaway companions Torres and Gonzalo.
