The Beginning
I wasn’t kidding when I said this team struggled to get results. In fact, they struggled to just stay on their bikes at times. Yet, it was the idea that the team was going to get better that keep the moving the story forward. The first real breakthrough moment came at the Tour du Haut Var when Ian Watson claimed the King of the Mountain jersey. Yes, a KoM jersey in a two-day race was considered a rather big success.
A month later after numerous failed breakaway attempts, Ian Watson shined once more. This time by shocking the world and winning Hot Wheels - Porsche’s first stage at the Ronde van Drenthe from a perfectly timed attack from the breakaway. Then he did the unthinkable by holding on the following day to win the general classification. A superb achievement for the 18-year old.

This result set the precedent that even though the team may look weak, they certain didn’t lack any heart. They surely didn’t lack any confidence either, I mean look at that jersey and equipment! That’s riding in style and with swagger.
The Present
Nowadays, nearing the end of their second season, Hot Wheels - Porsche is getting better results than in the older days. After victories in Picardie and Wallonie, the team is heading into the final months of the season with a good feeling. New trainees, including talented Jesse Lee, have been brought in to reinforce the team for the next season.
The team is slowly building a nice palmares and is definitely making a name for itself. With riders like Watson, Rodrigues and Remuzgo, the future of the team seems safe.

The Future
But don’t let us fool you, this team has got a lot of work to do. The rise to stardom is a long and tough process. The road is still filled with many obstacles. Hot Wheels - Porsche have taken up the challenge and look determined enough to make the most of it. Maybe one day we’ll see Hot Wheels - Porsche as a true contender for ‘best team of the world’. If they do, make sure to be there and share in the glory!
