Macskako Kerekparverseny - Discussions
Imladrik
The return of that race! Yes, you know it, it’s the one with the overly complicated name and which takes place in Hungary, as the PT cobbled season is underway. An appetizer for the Ronde van Vlanderen, which will take place the day after. A recognized one, as it’s its second year in the PT.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Profiles/mg_kerekparverseny.jpg

Only one former winner comes back here : pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/rab.png Floris Gerts. He won the race in 2021 in the same team he’s today, though it was name Huski Chocolate. Carlsberg, two times winner of the race (in 2019 with Sinkeldam and 2022 with Trentin) will want to make it three, and with another leader yet.

But before coming down to the list of participants, let’s have a look at the honour roll.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/jur.png Theuns807476737677

Well, this list looks a lot like the honour roll from last year ! After his 4th place last year, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/cdb.png Per comes back with another green team, hoping to give Carlsberg their 3rd victory.
After being 2nd in both 2021 (for Grieg) and 2022 (for Aker), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/akm.png Wisniowski comes back with intention to finally win the race.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/kng.png Kasperkiewicz, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/jur.png Theuns and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/rab.png Gerts have to drop the weaker puncheurs to get a chance to the win. That might mostly cause harm to weaker climber, like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/mol.png Altur or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/brs.png Stallaert, though both got good results the passt years. Still, the finish is particularly steep and doesn’t suit them that much.

Some of these should be expected to help their leaders. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/kng.png Ferreira, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/evo.png Polanc and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bnb.png Vanbilsen are the most susceptible to get chances of their own. Polanc seems the most well armed for this race (6th and 4th in 2022 and 2021 respectively), though Vanbilsen managed to be 10th in 2020.

That’s all for this preview. See you tomorrow for an exciting race on the hungarian cobbles!

I can't expect more than what I got in Appia, maybe a breakaway.

Thanks for the preview.

Gerts did very well two season ago to grab the victory in a race that suits him perfectly on paper. But, he wasn't that good last year so I'm not sure what to expect. Hopefully, he'll be in contention for the podium.

Lovely to see the cobbles come thick and fast Grin

Our start in Italy was outstanding, and if we can keep momentum bringing both Wisniowski and Anderberg deep into the finale, I think we got a great chance at another podium, as I still see Wisniowski as the second favourite in these kind of races, behind Pedersen. The win is also of course within reach, and fingers crossed we get to use Anderberg and Wisniowski as a duo, similar to in Appia Antica, or with Wisniowski as a clear leader in the finale.

baseballlover312
Same roster and same goals as Appia. We've won this race twice when our team was in two different divisions, with two different leaders. So why not add a third? Pfft

Last year's results suggest the parcours should suit Per, and his training should help too (though others have received it too). The name of the game is not to do anything stupid and be in the right places at the right times.

Thanks for the preview!

A podium last year and the same thing is the goal this year. Perhaps the finish that's the most difficult for Pedersen giving the hill, but hopefully he can make it work still. Gerts have the perfect skill set for this, but hopefully we can take advantage of the cobbles more than he can take advantage of the hills.

One of the cobbled races best suited to Meiler's skillset, so maybe this is his upset opportunity of the season.
If not, I'd also be happy with more solid depth scoring like we just had in Italy.

Any improvement over the previous race will be celebrated.

Next wildcard race for us, another one that should suit Theuns rather well. He took 5th last year, I'd definitely take that again. On paper, Gerts should be the big favourite given that he's by far the best puncheur, but given the previous results cobbles skills seem to be just as important. So just looking forward to another great fight of the big guns Smile

Thanks for the preview!

Polanc has the history here to get good results so of course the hope of getting a top 5 again is there.

As with many significant Native Indian locations of Bhopal Call Girls City in India is gaining interest in expanding. Some women who are independent, in offices, and even a few men return to the city due to some very unexpected motives and a few people choose the most exciting way of life to take up this opportunity.

Aker killing it. Congrats mate! :-)

Two guys out front made it for a good read, and Boutopoulos made the most of the chaos to finish 12th. The depth of our cobbles department shows their multiple strings which is pretty cool. Obviously not season defining results by any means, but it does work better than I would have feared.

Might be a viable solution to actually fit in a cobbles leader next season over Coquard.

I don't understand how the strongest puncheur in the group (by quite far I'd say) finishes that badly.

Superb race by Aker again. Congrats to ember and the mighty Wisniowski Smile

Pedersen probably did too much towards the end there. At least he didn't have the legs in the final hull. 5th is not what we hoped for, but not horrible. The depth scoring is pretty horrendous though. Especially Tiller disappointing big time. Hopefully it was just an off day, but it doesn't look good ...

Thanks for an entertaining report Smile

Yes! Brilliant result by Polanc! Of course, dumb early celebration but I rather celebrate a great second place here. And vd Haar adds a second good result with his top 20 finish. Love it!

Congrats ember, seems like investing on the cobbles with a double leadership is working out nicely for you!

At least we get mentioned early in those cobbles races. Sweeny for breakaways and the others for being dropped Smile

Davide Ballerini, I was unaware of your game good sir! Shock

Obviously it's going to be hard for us to focus too much on these races given we have completely ignored the classics this year but 13th is far more than we ever expected on a course like this.

Thanks for the report Imladrik, even if we weren't mentioned it was a good report to follow and I was even looking at the last few screenshots in disbelief that one of our riders had made the final few selections!
