Here they are. The final PT Rankings for the 2018 Man Game Season!
Top Table
Having a look back at the most previous pre Lombardia Rankings the main fights were at the top from 3rd (EA Vesuvio) to basically 8th (T-Mobile) with Festina, Evonik, Air France and Gazelle in between. The differential between those teams was just 310 points and while this might have been too much for T-Mobile to enter the podium the fight for the top5 or just changing a position here and there, was big. Actually also the following teams such as Isostar could improve slightly.
In the end T-Mobile and Gazelle did the best of the mentioned teams being 3rd and 4th best scorers in Lombardia with 200+ points each. Air France, who are the team of the final months also had a solid race with 164 points and Festina with 160 points.
Less good races point wise for Evonik and Isostar in the mid scoring table and in especially EA Vesuvio, where Gastauer failed hugely, so that they were 2nd from the bottom only with 45 points and likely to drop from the podium.
Mid Table
As said Isostar basically starts the mid table and also scored mediocre. Bennelong, eBuddy, Aker though all didn`t score really well neither and so it`s the team from 13th position (Hugo Boss) to make the big move by winning Lombardia and being 2nd best scoring team. They surely will improve in the rankings with chances for a late top10. RBC low scoring and Aegon mid scoring might also change something as Grieg as best scoring team coming close.
Bottom Table
This might have been the most crucial part! The relegation zone and it was basically 4 decisions already with Berg, Volvo, Porto and Desigual going down. In especially as Desigual as only realistic team to change this, was the worst scoring Lombardia team.
The fight between UBS and Tinkoff was the more exciting as it was a differential of just 24 points between relegation and staying in. And of course UBS as lower team outscored Tinkoff to make it even more exciting.
| | Team | Lombardia | 1 | | Grieg - Eftel | 325 | 2 | | Hugo Boss | 315 | 3 | | T-Mobile | 220 | 4 | | Gazelle | 208 | 5 | | Moser - Sygic | 175 | 6 | | Air France - KLM | 164 | 7 | | Festina - Dexia | 160 | 8 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 143 | 9 | | Aker - MOT | 141 | 10 | | Evonik - ELKO | 108 | 11 | | Isostar Slovenija | 93 | 12 | | Volvo acc. by Spotify | 89 | 13 | | Berg Cycles | 82 | 14 | | Porto - Prio | 77 | 15 | | Team UBS | 74 | 16 | | Team Puma - SAP | 72 | 17 | | RBC Pro Cycling | 68 | 18 | | Team Tinkoff | 54 | 19 | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | 50 | 20 | | eBuddy | 50 | 21 | | EA Vesuvio | 45 | 22 | | Desigual | 40 |
First, Team Puma - SAP takes the dominant win this season. A long planning and waiting for Herklotz to get his full potential was worth it. Their first PT win and many might follow?
Moser - Sygic or Team Bewley had a solid year but it wasn`t enough. More than 1000 points to Puma but also more than 1000 points to the 3rd.
And here we see a first change. Festina - Dexia indeed with a late push into the top3 beating EA Vesuvio by just 24 points!
And the next change in the top 5 is Gazelle. With yet another sensational depth performance in the hills they move up 2 spots. Air France remains in 6th.
T-Mobile also climb to 7th which means Evonik was the unlucky team in the end dropping 3 spots even from 5th to 8th.
Isostar remains 9th while Hugo Boss also made a move up 3 spots into the top10 dropping Bennelong from this one.
Aker, eBuddy, RBC, Grieg and Aegon quite calm seasons with no chance for the upper part and neither really had relegation danger.
Coming to the relegation no chances at the bottom 4 as expected but as said UBS outscored Tinkoff in Lombardia. BUT it`s not enough. 24 points behind and a outscoring of 20 points means UBS will have to go down due to 4 tiny points! This is basically just one better position in one race. Trofimov only would have needed to gain 1 position in Lombardia and they would have been 1 point ahead of Tinkoff. Ouch.
| | | Team | Total | PpRD | 1 | 1 | | Team Puma - SAP | 8410 | 44,03 | 2 | 2 | | Moser - Sygic | 7395 | 38,72 | 3 | 4 | | Festina - Dexia | 6316 | 33,07 | 4 | 3 | | EA Vesuvio | 6292 | 32,94 | 5 | 7 | | Gazelle | 6180 | 32,36 | 6 | 6 | | Air France - KLM | 6158 | 32,24 | 7 | 8 | | T-Mobile | 6157 | 32,24 | 8 | 5 | | Evonik - ELKO | 6118 | 32,03 | 9 | 9 | | Isostar Slovenija | 5968 | 31,25 | 10 | 13 | | Hugo Boss | 5832 | 30,53 | 11 | 10 | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | 5700 | 29,84 | 12 | 12 | | Aker - MOT | 5667 | 29,67 | 13 | 11 | | eBuddy | 5615 | 29,4 | 14 | 14 | | RBC Pro Cycling | 5522 | 28,91 | 15 | 16 | | Grieg - Eftel | 5496 | 28,77 | 16 | 15 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 5494 | 28,76 | 17 | 17 | | Team Tinkoff | 4685 | 24,53 | - | - | - | - | - | - | 18 | 18 | | Team UBS | 4681 | 24,51 | 19 | 19 | | Desigual | 4507 | 23,6 | 20 | 20 | | Porto - Prio | 4313 | 22,58 | 21 | 21 | | Volvo acc. by Spotify | 4127 | 21,61 | 22 | 22 | | Berg Cycles | 4067 | 21,29 |

Final Individual Rankings
Bewley was already in front the last time and even got more points in Battenkill. 2657 points by a single rider is huge and more than half of the relegation teams actually. So it`s another PT crown for the Kiwi, who really is THE standout rider.
Herklotz though in his first big season came really close with 2332 points and also Ponzi due to his Lombardia win at 2327 had a fantastic season.
Spilak and Boasson Hagen as last riders above 2000 points complete the top5!
Taaramae as maybe best stage racer couldn`t show his full potential in some races and finishes in 6th ahead of Phinney due to his TT dominance.
Demare then as best "sprinter", mainly due to his performance in the Giro d'Italia or Ronde Van Nederland ahead of veteran Andy Schleck, who showed that even in his age another Giro win is possible and Bakelants to finish the top10.
Best pure sprinter was Coquard in 14th in the end, best cobbler (outside Bewley, who obviously dominates them) was Van Avermaet in 23rd.
1 | Sam Bewley | NZL | | Moser - Sygic | 2657 | 2 | Silvio Herklotz | GER | | Team Puma - SAP | 2332 | 3 | Simone Ponzi | ITA | | Hugo Boss | 2327 | 4 | Simon Spilak | SLO | | Isostar Slovenija | 2110 | 5 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | NOR | | Air France - KLM | 2053 | 6 | Rein Taaramäe | EST | | T-Mobile | 2051 | 7 | Taylor Phinney | USA | | RBC Pro Cycling | 1886 | 8 | Arnaud Demare | FRA | | Team Puma - SAP | 1871 | 9 | Andy Schleck | LUX | | EA Vesuvio | 1869 | 10 | Jan Bakelants | BEL | | Grieg - Eftel | 1723 | 11 | Jack Bobridge | AUS | | Bennelong - Mitchelton | 1582 | 12 | Tejay Van Garderen | USA | | T-Mobile | 1432 | 13 | Joseph Dombrowski | USA | | eBuddy | 1377 | 14 | Michael Van Stayen | BEL | | Evonik - ELKO | 1311 | 15 | Bryan Coquard | FRA | | Festina - Dexia | 1280 | 16 | Peter Sagan | SVK | | Moser - Sygic | 1276 | 17 | Pierre-Henri Lecuisinier | FRA | | Festina - Dexia | 1230 | 18 | Robert Gesink | NED | | Berg Cycles | 1206 | 19 | Toms Skujins | LAT | | Evonik - ELKO | 1205 | 20 | Angel Madrazo | ESP | | Gazelle | 1199 | 21 | Sean De Bie | BEL | | Aegon - Lavazza | 1198 | 22 | Greg Van Avermaet | BEL | | Evonik - ELKO | 1197 | 23 | Ben Swift | GBR | | Aegon - Lavazza | 1174 | 24 | Romain Sicard | FRA | | Air France - KLM | 1173 | 25 | Andrei Amador | CRC | | Team UBS | 1105 |

3rd is very very pleasing for us! We could have easily made the "Evonik"-drop here so I feel sad for them really! In terms of goals I believe they were home safe, though while we gambled heavily on 3rd and got it in the last second!
Congrats to Puma for the dominant win, and condolences to Moser for yet another podium, while the win wasn't really close. I'm happy to see Aker taking a bit of a charge upwards in the final quarter of the season, as they are easily the best of the "mediocre" teams. A change to PCM18 should see them among the top top favorites I think.
Also I'm very sad to see UBS go down like this. Being that close in the end is just not good fun to be part of. Drama at it's best for the rest of us though.
Isostar and the Spilak/Mohoric combo fucked it up big time in the Lombardia race, otherwise they could have been up very high.
In terms of management, I would give Dubbeldekker the award for best planning, as 5th seems extremely well done for the Gazelle team. The value of depth really shows in that regard!
Looking at my own team it was a sensational season. After selling Simon Spilak (2499), Coppel (1189) and David (308) and only gaining Maxime Daniel as a replacement it is great to see every single rider in the team stepping up, and getting SIGNIFICANTLY more points than they did last season.
Coquard with +494
Lecuisinier with +290
Koretzky with +282
Vlatos with +157
as the most notable.
5 riders in top 100 with Vasyliv just outside is really nice. With only Coquard as a real standout leader I think we did well above expectations.
Bryan Coquard the best pure sprinter.
Pierre-Henri Lecuisinier the 7th best GC rider.
Panagiotis Vlatos the 2nd best pure TT'er. (150 points behind Fiedler)
Clement Koretzky the 8th best regular puncheur.
Maxime Daniel the 8th best cobbler, except for Bewley.
All punching well above their weights if looking at the DB. Obviously not the best in terms of re-signing them, but hopefully we will have some leeway nontheless looking at the level of riders they infact are.
Thanks everyone for another great season. A huge thanks to the people running the show, and to all of you reporters putting in a ton of work for my (and the others) enjoyment! It is sincerely appreciated!!!

Also fun to take a quick readthrough in the previews where most had me in the region of 12-14th, with a couple of high jumpers to 7th and 10th. Looking at that, I guess 3rd is perfect!

I guess trained riders are hard to be judged in previews and tend to be underrated.
Extreme case in your example where solid point scorers were lost and trained riders such as Coquard/Lecuisinier not getting rated with full potential but more to their previous rides.
For my own team, 16th is about what I expected really going into the season, being afraid of relegation with the changes I made. (Actually just went through my preview and had me exactly 16th before the season. ) Also SN`s mathematical preview looked quite good for Aegon.
In the end the outcome is okay even though I still feel that I had a lot more underperformances than overperformances this year and could probably have done a bit better even. Next year will be tough as goal wise my team really didn`t well at all. |

Thank you to everyone involved in organizing another season of the MG
A disappointing season for me. Grosu, Boswell, Gerts, Howson and Calmejane were pretty much the only riders that performed as expected or above those expectations. Dombrowski wasn't quite as strong as I hoped he would and Brambilla was all over the place.
Hopefully this means Dombrowski will accept an important pay cut.

Yeah from hero to zero in very few time for us. The squad clearly had a very bad day in Lombardia, on a scandalous day, but it wasn't only down to that that the season was not as perfect as it could've been. There is time in the off-season to work on that surely.

Thank you to all reporters, roturn and others that are doing behind the scenes stuff. Very grateful to be part of this game, as it's simply brilliant. It's been a rather fast season as well, well done to keep the pace!
All in all, I must admit I feel this has been an underwhelming season for my team. Though, we obviously don't have any major points scorer, but I did indeed expect better from Beltran and Trentin. Especially Trentin is a slight surprise, I think, seeing his solid stats and backup stats, but it just wasn't meant to be this season.
Very curious to see what I'll prioritize this transfer season, as I expect the budget to be very limited due to failed goals, but that can make it fun as well. Definitely looking forward to it It could well be time again to try to bring in a major points scorer again, like EBH was for us in previous seasons. But I'm really not sure, as it's fun to go without as well
Congratulations again to cio93 on the title. A very dominant season, led by wonderboy Herklotz. Definitely a team that will be up there next season as well, whatever way their transfer season goes, I'd say.
Very unlucky for Team UBS to be four points short of survival, in the same way it would have been unlucky for Tinkoff had it been the other way around. Hopefully we'll get to see a strong rebuild by the Swiss team in the PCT, and then see them back in the PT soon. |

Congratulations cio for the long awaited win! Believe this is the first time in my MG history without seeing Festina on top, but a very deserved one with that big of a gap. Moser with another top three, hopefully next season will be theirs. Festina on the podium after a large rebuild deserves an applause too.
Close relegation in the end decided by only four points! Congratulations to Tinkoff on survival but my commiserations to UBS on relegation. Only one place and it would've been the other way around. Look forward to battling against the other relegation teams again next season, will be interesting who can bounce back immediately.

Huge congratulations to cio on the dominant win this year. It will be interesting to see how transfers/renewals change things for you.
Thank you to all of the reports and people who did work behind the scenes to keep things going this year, it was really a great season.
And congratulations to Oleg on avoiding relegation. That was a great battle that came down to the wire, but your team is a fixture in the Man game and definitely deserves to stay in the PT. I have mixed feelings about relegation. Part is frustration just from losing. But I'm also excited to see some of my 2nd tier riders compete in a more level playing field, and to see Amador hopefully win some more races before his decline hits him hard.

23 points from top 5... Really tight battle after the big 2. Also tight on avoiding relegation
Congrats Cio. Dominant season! Will be really interesting to see who you have to put on the alter for the wage gods in the off season
We managed our big goal with the TDF win from Rein, now it's time to make plans for the future

Roaring win by Team Puma. Congrats. I also finally looked up Sam Bewley on the wikipedia... his real life results aren't quite as impressive, I'm not ashamed I never heard of him outside the MG.

Here we go again PCT. It was an horrible season dor us, so I'm atually glad it's finished.
Congrats on the massive win cio. I'm sure you're mightily happy with that. That relegation fight heartburn is really tangible too. What a small gap!
And lastly, thank you roturn and all you awesome people that help this game reach another sucessfull season. I truly admire all the work behind the scenes from the reports! Chapeau to you guys!

Only Coquard was trained, though. And that was announced (and included in many cases I see) :-)

Finally this painful season has come to an end.
Our possibilities were limited from the start, but Cattaneo's pathetic season helped a lot so that in the end we could only finish last.
We go again PCT but I think it will be possible to keep our best riders, the bad season that almost everyone has had should bring less expectation when renewing which could allow the team to keep the top riders in our ranks.
Two noteworthy notes, one negative for seeing our Prio-Porto neighbors relegated again and one positive for seeing Puma finally reap the rewards of a well-planned strategy.
As it should be, I end with a big thank you to all who once again made this season possible.

So close at the bottom! A good race to finish the season for us. It wasn't a great season, but it was decent enough and hopefully something to build on. Especially happy with Wisniowski up in 29th place in the individual rankings.
Congrats to cio on a fully deserved win!

While it would have been nice to take that top-5 spot, I'm absolutely delighted to finish 6th in my first season back in the Pro Tour. Definitely not something I expected!
Huge congrats to Puma with a huge win. Absolutely destroyed the rest of the us. |

First of all massive thanks to the reporters and organizers who make this great game possible! Much appreciated.
Then to cio; respect for the multi-year build up that culminated in this dominant PT win. Congratulations!
For Gazelle this was a great season and the last minute surge to 5th was the cherry on the cake. I really like how often we scored points by collectively swamping top 30's and winning Team Classifications. Madrazo dissapointed again and Ginanni's age started to show, but the team more than made up for it and turned this into our highest PT finish to date.

Same can be said about UBS! Both of our teams need a restructure but it's probably better when you are forced to do so cus of PCT limits. I'll just keep on signing non scoring Russian
