The National Championships are back, with a new look for 2017.
New Format
We'll be using a new format, as suggested and tested by Roman, which shows very promising results for the stronger riders to contest for NC titles, and that they won't simply be a festival of breakaways.
All teams will have 8 riders. Gaps are filled by 'Fake Riders', with 55s in all stats.
There are 24 teams in all races, meaning that there will be teams of solely fake riders in almost all races.
Belgium, France and Italy are the only three nations where not all eligible riders can take part - as riders are spread across more than 24 teams. Having 3 riders from those countries guaranteed participation for a team, with the remainder selected by choosing the most suitable riders for the chosen course.
If a team has more than 8 riders, the first 8 - by rider ID - ride together; the remainder go into a 2nd team. This was part of a large automation of the startlist creation process, to allow for making them faster both this year, and in the future.
Routes
The voted choice for each nation is available here: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....st_1289681
Thanks to jandal and Abhishek for counting the votes; and Roman for selecting the profiles.
Reporting
NCs require the least time commitment of all races in the season, in terms of playing and writing the reports. Volunteers to join the reporting team will be very welcome, as there are a lot of nations in the game!

And immediately, 30 double national champions can be crowned. These were the only eligible riders for their nation.

So for Belgium where I have 10 riders, the first 8 rider ID's will be able to ride the race and the 2nd team will be too small to participate? But I can't chose which riders get to race that way, or do I understand it wrong?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Nah, slightly different for the 3 big nations as they necessitated more of a manual selection anyway. There I've made a judgement on the best 8 riders for the main team. Then the remaining 2 (Biermans, De Plus) were judged against the other teams who had 1 or 2 riders; and in this case were not strong enough to merit entry as a 2nd Lierse team.

Well I really wanted to punish Waeytens, but as long as the best riders will always get a spot, the problem is solved well enough for me

The most important part of the season for the teams with strange riders :-p
Congrats to Jayco for securing both the Australian jerseys.

For the first time I have to wait for my first NC.
Like the effect of the new system appearing to actually give some decent racing.

Durbridge wins a TT! And Bobridge plays it smart in the road race, waiting for the most dangerous attack and destroy McCarthy in the sprint. Great stuff in the only NC that matters!

Too bad Howson couldn't follow on his Oceania TT win here.
The double must be great for Jayco though.

Pretty good ride from Watson and a decent top 10 for Dempster. Nothing to do about Bobridge/Durbridge though, congrats on the double, tsmoha!

Encouraging start to see Bobridge win the first RR, gives hope that the big names indeed will fight it out in the bigger NCs, opposite to previous years.
Congratulations on the double, tsmoha! |
