Isle of Man ITT
The prestigious timetrial event in the PCT calendar goes into it's 9th edition and it's surely one of the biggest days for the TT specialists: 60km of an individual effort against the clock, with two climbs making for a hilly character. Certainly a tough timetrial and those, who are amongst the contenders here, would surely love to place their name on a honour roll, that is packed with some of the best TT horses in the history of the MG:
Fiedler as the latest winner in 2016, Reus took the primes in 2015. Former timetrial world champion Rogers beat Ignatiev in a thrilling 2014 edition, Zabriskie celebrated his victory in 2013. Larsson (2012), Ignatiev (2011), Cornu (2010) and Day (2009) as the other names on the list.
The Startlist
The Favorites Favorites | HI | TT | AC | | Outsiders | HI | TT | AC | Cornu | 72 | 81 | 73 | | Bookwalter | 71 | 78 | 64 | Ignatiev | 75 | 80 | 82 | | Tennant | 69 | 78 | 68 | Paillot | 71 | 80 | 64 | | Atkins | 68 | 78 | 63 | Sergent | 69 | 80 | 51 | | Sterobo | 62 | 78 | 73 | Viennet | 67 | 80 | 64 | | Li | 61 | 78 | 75 | Van Winden | 63 | 80 | 72 | | Kreuziger | 72 | 77 | 71 | Reus | 74 | 79 | 62 | | Boaro | 71 | 77 | 70 | Martin | 72 | 79 | 73 | | Pökälä | 71 | 77 | 65 | Brändle | 71 | 79 | 69 | | Christian | 69 | 77 | 72 | Viviani | 66 | 79 | 70 | | Ghyselinck | 68 | 77 | 68 | Dempster | 64 | 79 | 72 | | Fominykh | 67 | 77 | 69 | Mottin | 61 | 79 | 55 | | Andersen | 64 | 77 | 65 | Stannard | 55 | 79 | 72 | | Laizer | 58 | 77 | 70 | Dennis | 75 | 78 | 68 | | Brajkovic | 74 | 76 | 69 |
The chances for Cornu to repeat his victory from 2010 look promising: being the best TT rider and adding decent skills on climbs, the Belgian probably won't be happy with anything less than the a podium place this year. But of course there's also Ignatiev, who's a former race winner as well and who has the advantage as the better puncheur. Paillot as another promising challenger, as he's similar strong on both key disciplines here.
Reus as another former race winner, who can possibly ride to his second Isle of Man victory. Martin, Brändle, Dennis (as the strongest puncheur here) and Bookwalter have to be considered real threats, as they are also capable of going over hills. It's of course about a good daily form as well and those riders should be really dangerous, if they are on good legs tomorrow.
Sergent, Viennet (who did so well in Danmark last month), Van Winden, Viviani, Dempster and Mottin may suffer a bit. Especially Van Winden, Dempster and Mottin ain't exactly made for a hilly timetrial. Maybe some less strong TT horses like Tennant, Atkins, Boaro or Pökälä are good bets for a Top-10, as they climb better than the previously mentioned specialists.
Brajkovic or Roe could be up for an upsetting result, as they will like the hilly note of the parcours. We know that daily shape can do some wonders.

So is that other TTT not really a thing anymore?
I know you're not the reporter of it, just saying.

Think we'll do better when Monterrey eventually comes around. Too much hills here for our guys, I reckon, but hopefully we can fight for a top 10 and two inside the top 20.
Ignatiev to continue his winning streak.

Maybe Sergent can finally bring in a decent point haul for us here.
We're pretty dependent on it. |

Time for Paillot and Pökälä to hit a +5 daily form...
I want at least a podium as I expect the win will be hard. Pökälä could do anything between 10th and 30th depending on the day.

Hmm very strong startlist, I don't expect a big result. Mottin and Laizer will surely struggle with the hill, Kireva can deal with it but is not strong enough on the flats. Let's see if they prove me wrong.

I figured out that the mountain stat should have an influence, hence Brajkovic and Brändle took the cut and no Navardauskas/Bazhkou. Sadly no space for a third, as due to planning issues we needed Svab here to bring him to level 3. Still a big chance for a podium here.

Cornu has had some disastrous results in the One-Day ITT races for me. Let's hope this isn't one of those as a win here will certainly help our points tally.

6th and 15th, more than I expected coming in to the race, so I'll have to say I'm happy with that. A really poor effort by Ignatiev. He hasn't been the strongest in the TTs earlier in the season either, but had expected more. Congrats to LLS on a dominant win, also a couple of great results for Bjartne and Croatia.

Yes Isostar! Massive race for the title fight momentum to continue! Love the Brajkovic performance, be it luck, awesomeness or sneaky MO stat planning, it worked. Love the performance from Sergent too

Told you awesome result by us, exactly what we needed to keep the points flow coming - I kind of hoped for this, but having the result standing now is amazing!
Euskaltel may be safe now, that is a nice sight!

A nice podium finish by Sergent, but even more impressed by Fominykh, who really should have problems finishing top 20!
Fantastic race for us and a rare reason to celebrate for Compal
Thank you tsmoha for the good and entertaining report! |

That's the result we were after, Cornu not starting particularly well but coming back to take a dominant win!
Thanks Croatia, it is indeed nice to have more breathing space down the other end of the table!

hmmm, not the result I had hoped for here, expected much better considering Dennis weighed up as one of the pre race favourites :/

Why don't we just use a random number generator for TT results.
