This race starts off with a very difficult cobbled stage with many small hills thrown in. Only the best cobblers can hope to hang on till the finish. Having the ability to go over hills as well as high energy stats will be an added advantage. Stage 2 should also see a selection of the best cobblers, although it is not as hard as the first stage. There is more climbing on this stage though. Stage 3 is quite flat, and the sprinters will be looking to make the most of it. This short stage will come as a relief after the brutal start to this race. The ITT on the final stage is too short to perhaps massively affect the GC, but in case of non-selective stages before, it could play a big role. Again, the profile has barely a upward or downward dent!
| Name | COB | STA | | Kamyshev | 82 | 81 | | Burghardt | 82 | 77 | | Vanbilsen | 80 | 80 | | Nolf | 80 | 77 | | Daniel | 80 | 76 | | Altur | 80 | 75 | | Wisniowski | 79 | 75 | | Thomas | 79 | 75 | | Polanc | 78 | 78 | | Van Keirsbulck | 78 | 75 |
The cobbles specialists will hope to make the most of the first two stages in their quest for the GC. Kamyshev and Burghardt are the clear favourites for the cobbled stages. Their combination of cobbles and support stats ensures this.
The quartet of Vanbilsen, Nolf, Daniel and Altur should be in contention too. Their strategy might involve trying to take it easy in the early cobbles, allowing the top two to do most of the work, and then try a late attack to distance them.
The other contenders for the cobbles are mentioned in the table above.
| Name | FLA | SPR | ACC | | Maksimov | 72 | 81 | 84 | | Van Heerden | 73 | 82 | 73 | | Drapac | 71 | 80 | 79 | | Castañeda | 71 | 80 | 79 | | Van Asbroeck | 75 | 80 | 78 | | Rowe | 78 | 79 | 80 | | Afewerki | 73 | 79 | 80 | | Clarke | 72 | 79 | 78 | | Peeters | 72 | 79 | 77 | | Vanderaerden | 72 | 79 | 75 |
The sprinters come into this race mainly targeting stage 3 but they can also hope to get involved on stage 2, if the pack decides to take it easy. Here again, there are two clear favourites in Maksimovic and Van Heerden.
Their main challengers are likely to be Drapac, Castaneda and Van Asbroeck. Rowe and Aferwerki will be hoping their stronger acceleration can give them the edge in the final bunch sprint.
| Name | TT | PRL | | Viennet | 80 | 80 | | Paillot | 80 | 80 | | Martin | 79 | 78 | | Atkins | 78 | 77 | | Sebright | 77 | 77 | | Andersen | 77 | 77 | | Wisniowski | 74 | 77 | | Leung | 73 | 77 | | Andersen | 69 | 76 | | Meier | 76 | 76 | | Van Poppel | 62 | 76 | | Oba | 74 | 76 | | Vandousselaere | 76 | 76 |
Favourites for stage 4 will be the TT specialists and more so those specializing in Prologues. Once again, it is two at the top with Viennet and Paillot inseparable in terms of stats. As always, Tony Martin will be a force to be reckoned with in a TT.
Other contenders for top spots include Wisnoski, who just might be able to take advantage of this ability and further improve on his cobbles showing, where too, he is a top contender. Grieg also have Watson who is good against the clock, while Orange's strong TT team has Andersen, who can expect a good result.
Other contenders are mentioned in the table above.
| Name | COB | SPR | ACC | TT | PRL | | Wisniowski | 79 | 73 | 76 | 74 | 77 | | Daniel | 80 | 76 | 72 | 56 | 64 | | Thomas | 79 | 74 | 78 | 63 | 63 | | Burghardt | 82 | 67 | 72 | 62 | 62 | | Vanbilsen | 80 | 72 | 71 | 63 | 63 | | Rowe | 75 | 79 | 80 | 65 | 74 | | Nepomnyachsniy | 76 | 78 | 76 | 67 | 67 | | Altur | 80 | 72 | 68 | 63 | 63 | | Van Asbroeck | 74 | 80 | 78 | 66 | 74 | | Polanc | 78 | 67 | 75 | 70 | 74 | | Kamyshev | 82 | 66 | 58 | 65 | 65 | | Harrison | 73 | 78 | 81 | 72 | 72 | | Bush | 78 | 71 | 73 | 62 | 62 | | Nolf | 80 | 63 | 71 | 64 | 64 | | Breschel | 76 | 76 | 72 | 61 | 61 |
As mentioned previously, with a strong combination of strong cobbles and TT ability, along with competitive sprinting abilities, Wisnowski starts as favourite for this race. His main advantage might turn out to be how much time he gets back on his rivals in the TT.
Daniel is super-strong in the cobbles and is capable of pulling out a good result in the sprint. His TT skills leave something to be desired and this could turn out to be his Achilles' Heel.
Burghardt and Vanbilsen will be hoping they get a decent gap in the cobbled stages, because they are sure to lose some of it in the TT. Thomas too, is a similar rider, but with slightly better sprinting ability.
Rowe and Nepomnyachsniy can hope to be competitive in both the cobbles and the sprints. While the former can hold his own against the clock, the latter might fade on the last stage.
Van Asbroesck, Polanc and Harrison will be hoping to be in contention come stage 4 as they can make up time in the TT. Polanc will be one of the contenders on cobbled stages as well while Van Asbroeck will look to take a win on stage 3. All three can aim to get into the top 10 at the end of the race.
The other contenders for the overall crown is mentioned in the table above.

Regular cobbles squad rolled out for this one. Marcus is our best bet, he has the ability to take time on the opening stages and he really should do. Big opportunity for him following a slightly underwhelming season so far. G can do ok, the AI has shown it can use both riders cleverly and i'm hoping it can do so again. Matthews can also sprint, and can TT, so he'll be one to watch in a less tough race. Then it's Jyme, Martin, Stefan, Wolverine and The Law as support.
The dream scenario, two stage wins and the GC. More likely, two decent placings and a Top5 GC. At least i want to keep up our strong scoring rate in these races, and keep us heading for the mid-table

Double leadership here, always a risk in PCM. Vanbilsen to attack on the cobbles, Van Abbroeck to follow and win a sprint. Hoping for a stage win and a good GC here. Our last stage win here was Joseph in 2014, that has to change.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Key race and a win goal. As long as Wisniowski can keep up with the other favourites on the first two stages, he should be the best in the final TT. Really looking forward to this.

Hope we can come here fighting and join some breaks - Schreurs, MTK, Jams and Ngamoki are great candidates I hope. Vandenbergh won't be touching the front rows but I'd like to think he could grab a point or two in the GC depths. Clarke is deceivingly highly placed in that sprint table but I don't expect anything flash from him against better PCT opposition - not that he can do much in CT anyway
Thanks for the preview Abhishek and good luck everybody. Don't chase those breakaways too hard

A big race for Lierse. Van Asroeck should love the course. An even bigger race for Grieg, who could have legitimate 1-2 ambitions.
And then there is Polanc. The stage 1 cobbles look very much as if they'd favour a good hill stat, as almost all go uphill. Stage 2 doesn't look too selective. Stage 4 is set up perfect for his GC ambitions.
Top 10 is a must reach. Top 5 is the goal. Marcos Altur definitely is our guy to beat, if we manage to do so we'll have a good race.

It's difficult to find a race that looks more suited to Wisniowski than this one.
My prediction is that there will be a lot of riders (too many?) on s.t. before the epilogue.
I'm hoping Daniel can win one of the cobbled stages in a sprint and use the bonus seconds to a decent GC result as well. Top 5 maybe? Allez Maxime!

Loved the performance by Baugnies last year here, just beasting the whole thing. Hoping for a similiar stellar performance, preferably a bit of an outsider (Lierse, Isostar).

Well, since it helped last time out, why not try it again:
"Flat/cobbled C1 race. I must have done my season planning while under the influence."
Albert not amongst the favourites doesn't bring me much hope, but Drapac looks solid for the flat stage. But if we're on the same weed as in Thailand then we'll probably win everything.

Made a last minute change to switch out of this race during planning, opting for KBK and Cacak (which isn't going so well ) instead as well as sending Vantomme to Colombia, a bit disappointed about that though as I love this race.
Wisniowski and Polanc have the TT stats for an awesome race, especially as they are both well suited to Stage 1, but we all know who the real winner will be: Novardianto!
Awesome preview Abhishek, thanks!

Kulppi has good experience here winning the youth jersey in the past. This time around I suppose we'll have to hope for breakaway luck and a good TT from Paillot.
With a bit of luck the sprinter field will prove weak enough for Manninen to sprint stage 3 which would be cool.

Looking at the startlist I kinda regret not bringing a team here, but then again that would have made planning a lot harder and possibly might have not even ended up being lucrative for us.

We sent the full blown cobbles squad here, no exceptions. Hopefully if we end up in a good positions after day 1, that will help us.
Nolf is very capable of a top 5, and though it might be greedy, that's what I want. If I can't get that, I want points somehow. Ostergaard attacking for instance and scoring stage points would be nice, but really GC is top priority here.
We brought Ranneries/Razzie too for the sprint stage, We're not listed among the favorites, and I don't expect anything, but Ranneries with 82 acceleration can perform if (and this is the trouble), he somehow manages to find himself in a decent spot for the sprint.

This event didn't pan out great for us last season with Bush crashing in the first stage, and meaning no one anyone near the top 25 GC in the end as the whole team waited and didn't make it back in a stage that exploded the bunch. Back again with fingers crossed for a wee bit more luck. Assuming JAC can make it through the first 2 stages with his atrocious cobbles skills, an outside chance of a podium on stage 3 assuming a break doesn't succeed (which seems more likely scenario tbh). One of either Bush or Harrison has stepped up at every cobbled outing thus far this season, so hopes for more of the same please .

Apologies in advance, but the posting schedule for this race will be a little slower than ideal, and might not match the calendar exactly.
I can put up one stage each today and tomorrow and will post the final two on Wednesday.

Oh god. Giaux limitting damage for us, but again Polanc missed the cut where he should've been in the front group.
Now we lost all youth jersey ambitions, Polanc can finish max. 12 GC. Hopefully at least Giaux can hang on tomorrow. Would love to see Polanc attacking.

Oh and by the way: Awesome result for Podium Ambition, they look ready and set for at least one GC podium and 2 in the Top10. Congrats on the very well deserved win to Goldcorp. And thank you for the very nice report Abhishek!

gratz goldcorp to the win and a huge move for thr GC win, too. this win may be pure gold for promotion. just a shame that the cobbles ai continues to throw away wins by acting too late.

Urgh terrible stage for us, not expecting much but now a guaranteed 0 pointer unless we're lucky. Wish somebody made it into the break. Gratz to Goldcorp, seems like PCT cobbles likes their breakaways as much as CT loves GVK
