Another month gone in the PCT division and 6 races took place with 3 HC events including two long mountain stage races in Austria and Portugal.
Top performer of the month was clearly Wiesenhof followed by Porto Prio. Both with solid scoring in several races.
A big move up was done by Compal who had a fantastic tour in Austria and hence can still hope to avoid relegation! They need more than this performance though.
Worst month for UBS and this might have been their last chance to get direct promotion and now they clearly need a rebuild for next year to strike back. The other teams are some of this seasons struggling ones already.

The full ranking changed a lot. While it was a 60 point differential of the first two, Wiesenhof went above the 3000 point mark and are now ~500 points in the lead basically taking a big step towards the division win here!
Strava struggled a lot and was also passed by Hugo Boss but there only 100 points and first might get back.
Porto with a huge step up from 10th onto a direct promotion spot. Basically where they have been before July already but then dropped. Coldeportes for now having the last promotion spot while the gap behind is small with Generali and VisitUkraine being in range and also the teams up to 12th or 13th can probably still get into contention with a late run.
At the bottom Compal climbed...but not high enough. Still sitting on a relegation spot but being within 60 points to the safe zone now and Vontobel in danger. Also Azteca not that far off and with Flores and Eritel two more teams struggling in that area.
Aeropostal, SanCor and In-n-Out look desperate at the bottom and for some teams only a very, very good finale, including the Tour of America could probably save them.
Lierse is a great fighting team here and sitting just above those big problem area alongside Netia and on the safe side but need to continue the scoring.

The projected rankings have some small changes. Porto Prio might continue their trend and even go up to 2nd behind the dominating Wiesenhof squad.
Telkom in 3rd even but therefore they need a great final 2 months as they did spend the least race days of the upper half.
Hugo Boss and Strava remain on the promotion zone but the gap isn`t that big with VisitUkraine and Ayuobowan being the first teams missing out while Coldeportes is dropping a lot in the projection.
Below only one change. According to the trend Vontobel might go down as Compal could continue to score. But therefore they need a lot of Austria like scoring really, which isn`t that easy. Also Flores, Indosat and Shimano are close and could basically be in any order in the end.

Individually Amador remains in the lead despite having ended his season for quite some time already and his last race was Andorra.
Lo Cicero is the dominant sprinter this season and shows this by going into 2nd and potentially can still attack the lead here.
Just as dominant, Kinoshita is on hilly terrain and Summerhill on cobbles, hence no surprise to see those 2 following.
Uran, Dekker, Roche, Machado and Martin are all PT material and hence aren`t a surprise in the top PCT rankings while Cunego also is a top class rider and was planned really smart to get him that high.
Biggest surprises that high are probably Bilbao in 15th and Van Asbroeck in 16th while stronger riders of their type are performing worse e.g. Froome/McCarthy/Costa or Ahlstrand/Avelino/Kump.

Thanks for the update roturn!
I expected a major drop although the size of it is actually still frightening. The pprd rankings is especially worrisome althogh Portugal and Austria are definitely the two races where we had the least chances all year but which cost us the most race days. Now that they are out of the way, who knows, maybe we'll get some winning mojo back.
Wiesenhof really with an excellent month may just have started running away with the title. Summer months were always meant to be a pain for us since we have no single GC rider. Also gratz to Hugo Boss, dev looks like certain promo material.

Kinoshita has only raced around half to 2/3 of his season so far, so its very possible he could pass Amador. Im not sure how many race days the others around him have left, but at this point my biggest goal is Kinoshita taking the Top rider ranking. Promotion would still be a bit of a stretch imo.
Too bad I sold Lo Cicero, I could have had 2 in the Top 3

Thanks for the update and nicely done write-up!
So yeah! We survived August in a really classy way by dropping just 1 position I'd expect to gain back later on, unless Coldeportes has a really stellar America line-up.
Several late season hilly classics and a few stage races await us now and September/October need to see our final push towards keeping ourselves around this position, we'll at least be certainly overtaken by Telkom though and I think we might even have a shot at Strava!
Wiesenhof with that absurd August have basically secured their division win, while I'd expect it to be between Porto, Telkom and Hugo Boss for the 2 podium spots. Relegation though as always quite exciting... would be pretty bad to see a few of those teams relegate, so it's just good luck to everyone

Thanks for the update, roturn!
Seems we ended in a neverending slump. Last time we had races performing ahead of expectations were in early May (Scandinavia and Dunkerque). August was just so sorely dissapointing because of the huge number of race days it costed. Anyway, still a number of well-fitting races left to not drop to deeply into relegation trouble, but pleasant surprises in the upcoming Tours of Britain and Ukraine are welcome, too.

August was a strong month for us, but that was more or less to be expected. I'm glad we've managed to accomplished that.
Wiesenhof looks like a pretty done deal for the title. Then there's a good battle between us Telkom, Hugo boss and Strava. Tour of America should help decide that one. Then from Coldeportes downwards the gaps are minimal which makes it sort of a Royal Rumble for the next 10 teams or so. It all depends on the race days they have left and the riders who are racing those.
Thanks for another top class update roturn. Looking forward for the next couple of months!

Well Crap, I thought we had a really solid month with a well above expected showing in Portugal and yet we lost places and even worse we no longer are favored to stay up in the PPRD category either.
Not much looking forward likely to save us. HC Rheden GP gives Summerhill a chance to collect large points one more time. But our season is really going to come down to needing something special from a weak squad going to ToA.

Which could see some training... Trentin as a Mini-Van Avermaet incoming
For my sake, it would be cool if both Strava and Azteca stay in the divison. Could be some cool battles on the cobbles. Strava looks good for a promotion though. Kind of surprised to see Azteca struggling. Having added Chaves and Beltran to the squad, I'd thought that they would do better. Perphaps it's down to Summerhill not being as dominant as last season?
Cool to see my fellow Norwegians in the first two spots, congrats guys

Summerhill hasn't been as dominant this season and the combination of Beltran and Chaves really hasn't added much this season. Chaves in particular has been bad. Unfortunately at this point I don't think Azteca will stay up, as the points from Rheden won't be enough and I don't expect to get much out of ToA which is a huge chunk of our remaining racedays (no Beltran or Chaves going). Errors were made in having no sprinter to speak of this season, and while we tried to have a solid showing in the hills, we just aren't good enough to get consistent points.
Going to need to find a way to loan a rider that costs 500k+ next season...

Oh, what a joy to almost reach safe ground after a fantastic month. Now we need to step up and have the same performance this autumn to keep the head above water. If Dekker can hold us up on his own, he can expect a big pay rise!
(No, he won't)
Thank you Roturn! |

A much better month of racing from my boys has seen us looking like a much more secure mid table team which isn't bad to see. Obviously some work to do in the off season to get ourselves into where it matters but these are positive signs.

Great month for us has hopefully clinched the first place Quite happy about that.
Interesting to follow the other battles, it is tight both at the promotion and relegation spots

This confirms we're done. The last few races we haven't done hardly anything, so we'll be finishing mid pack. Thanks for the update roturn!
