Different to last year the HC selection was more towards specific band and ignoring 1-2 bands, which is not absolutely ideal. With 2 full bands already and two pretty filled, the PT teams more or less must live with 2 empty bands.
Though the good news remains that all PCT teams will get their top4 choices and no team has to replan with their Bands to avoid.
The most popular bands Band 1 & 5, wich will be PCT only bands. While first covers lots of climbing the 5th has a bit of all terrains. Though it`s good to see that the cobbled bands were not that popular this year.
Band 3 with 22 and Band 4 with 23 PCT teams. This makes the first real cobbled band the 4th strongest only.
Band 2 with 16 and least popular Band 6 with only 11 selections shows the lowered interes in cobbled events this season with many classic focussed teams either promoted or relegated. Though to be fair, the least popular Band 6 only had one cobbled classic but other than that a rather similar look as the others with hills and mountains. Not a lot sprinter friendly though and with the Volta a Portugal also the longest HC event!
Also surprising that the classic heavy Band 2 was that low in interest as it`s a good band for sprinters or puncheurs really.

They will all be full at the end.
Just that PT teams filling them will have limited stats. |

Thanks for this roturn - and also knockout, for compiling the choices
After an administrative misunderstanding earlier (as in, I confused the hell out of knockout), I'm glad to see that we got the three bands that we actually wanted, and the one that I felt compelled to select because it contained our home race. Hopefully he can challenge for the win in Kandy, which means a bit of training may be needed

I had hoped some non-cobbler teams would bite in the sour apple and send their guys to cobblez regardless of their aspirations, thus eliminating a few teams. Looks like it may now turn into a cobblez clusterfuck.

I'm rather surprised Band 2 is that unpopular. It's imo the best balanced band between some bands that have many races that look very similar (mountains and pan flat races only) but then this might well be the reason for it

Interesting to see a few newly promoted teams in band 6 - Volta Portugal will be interesting for sure.

For Eritel it was pick the bands with African races plus one other. Clearly wish I had gone for Band 6 now
Out of interest, what would PCT teams have preferred of the following options? Given that it is the first time in 3 seasons of bands that it has been so notably 'unbalanced'.
1. Getting their top 4 choices
2. A fixed amount of 20 PCT teams per band, thus almost certainty that some would not get their top 4 choices.

Frankly, that would have been option 2 for Generali. We prefer bands with a more balanced amount of teams.

To me it's part of the game that things can go well or badly for you in Band/Race selection. Every team always wants to end up in an "easier" Band where they will have the best chance to score points.
Option 1 should be protected for that reason. To protect some of the randomness and advantage that could be gained via Band selection.
Perhaps it will be worth looking at the composition of the Bands next season instead, and/or comparing it with the PCT teams Goals and Focuses.

I can only speak from last season's perspective but I would definitely prefer to get my top 4 choices over getting equally splitted teams.

Happy I got my top 4 choices. In particular as I have goal races in each of my top 4 bands. Thanks for the work already done, roturn and knockout.
Whatever you do people will always find ways to complain. If it's the PT guys not having many bands to chose from (like this year) or PCT coaches not getting their top pics (like the second option by SN).
Strongly favour the way it is.
I recognize the HC races as key for PCT teams, so it seems right that PCT teams has as much freedom of choice (in this case) as possible.
Changing rules can always have unwanted consequences... e.g. a coach not able to attend a goal race, what could make it necessary to re-select goals (=more organisational work) or a team just not able to attend a goal race (=disastrous for a team).

Very happy to have been given my top choices.
As for the selection I'd say that the 4th band on my list is usually somewhat of a coincidence. Would really hate not getting my top 2-3 choices usually though.

Haha, in both the 2 least selected bands and the most selected ones... Won't complain though, will probably help hy team a fair amount due to overall less great competition
I also prefer the way it is now, PT teams should use these races mainly to help talent develop a bit, and CT teams honestly have nothing to ride for, except maybe a random stage win from a break.

I would much more like to get my selected bands rather than a evenly balanced starting field. For me it's also a part of excitement to see wether I picked a band with much or small interest from other teams. |

The good part is that I got all my choices.. But my main choices are the most crowded
It may be that at least in Band 2 have a good chance of my team shine
