[CT] Ferrero - Samruk
Spilak23
Presentation

Welcome to the online HQ of Ferrero - Samruk. A new cycling team that will represent 'The Greatest Country in the World' as described by it's most famous inhabitant.

Main investor for this project is Samruk-Kazyna is a sovereign conglomerate copletely owned by the State. Their interests include the national Rail and Post services, multiple Oil, Gas and Uranium companies and much more. They'll take on the role of 2nd title sponsor.

Main title sponosr will be the Italian chocolate company Ferrero. They're mainly known for their mythical hazelnut pasta Nutella, of which the team president is a big fan. Some of their other products include Tic Tac, Ferrero Rocher and the Mon Cheri pralines.
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b9/Ferrero_logo.svg/927px-Ferrero_logo.svg.png

We have two other sponors still to present. First of all is our bike sponsor. Italian legend Ernesto Colnago is currently designing our bike himself so we'll present that one in due time.

Then there is the shirt we will be wearing. It's produced by MOA after excellent designing work by Krisa. We can't thank him enough for the wonderful job that he has done for us adapting his original design to be in accordance with MG regulations.

@matt17br & the hoyle: Unfortunately the Vino4Ever jersey wasn't accepted. MGUCI made a big mistake there.

Good luck with your team next season, hope to see you a lot in Asia

Team Presentation

With transfer season now as good as over we can finally announce which fifteen riders will be defending our colours this season.

Enrico Barbin

Nationality: Italian
Age: 26
Wage: €50.000
Last year: Quick-Step (via Free Agency)

Enrico Barbin was one of our main targets before the start of the transfer season. The Italian is the best puncheur in our team and one of the best in the Contintental division. Thus he'll be one of our main leaders. He's a very strong classics rider that can compete in sprints from a smaller group aswel.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_08_PCM0278.jpg
Enrico Barbin wins on the Promenade des Anglais during last year's Paris Nice.

Ramunas Navardauskas

Nationaility: Lithuania
Age: 28
Wage: €130.000
Last Year: Project 1t4i (Via Trade)
Price: €400.000

Originally not part of our transfer list, we couldn't pass up the chance to nab him once we saw his old team make him available. A threat on many different terrains, we feel he is the perfect rider to create havoc in the Continental division.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Copmalttt/MG15_copmalmottt_1_005.jpg
Navardauskas as part of the Project 1t4i set-up that missed out on winning last years Copenhague-Malmö TTT by 5 seconds.

Marcello Pavarin

Nationality: Italian
Age: 30
Wage: €75.000
Last Year: Good Energy (via Free Agency)

Marcello Pavarin is a rider of very similar skillset as Enrico Barbin. Plan is that these two form a formidable one-two punch over hilly terrain.

Francesco Gavazzi

Nationality: Italian
Age: 32
Wage: €100.000
Last Year: Grupo Nutresa (via Free Agency)

Gavazzi is our main sprinter for the upcoming season. We feel like he has enough speed to compete with most sprinters at Continental level but what makes him special is that he's also very capable on more hilly terrain.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/TdU2013/mg_TdU_2013_71.jpg
Gavazzi sprints to victory at the Tour Down Under back in 2013.

Pippo Pozzato

Nationality: Italian
Age: 35
Wage: €75.000
Last Year: Gazelle (via Free Agency)

Only God can judge him.

i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa296/alexcofidis/PCM0113.jpg
Pippo beats Bettini to win a second Milano - San Remo.

Andrei Grivko

Nationality: Ukraine
Age: 33
Wage: €90.000
Last Year: Oz Cycling (via Free Agency)

Andrei Grivko gives us another rider that has the skills to compete for victories at CT level. He gives us some more climbing and TT skils next to our usual hilly powers.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/PreSeason/ContinentalChamps/mg2015_eurob_rr_PCM0048.jpg
Grivko rode an aggressive race towards 5th place the European B-champs.

Matthias Krizek

Nationality: Austria
Age: 28
Wage: €115.000
Last Year: Sauber - Petronas (via Free Agency)

Another puncheur but just like Grivko, Krizek is also very adept on mountains so he'll lead us in races that combine hilly stages with one or two mountain top finishes.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Czech/1-7.png
Krizek winning the first stage at the Tour of the Czech Republic after which he was awarded the leaders jersey.

René Mandri

Nationaliy: Estonia
Age: 32
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: RBC Pro Cycling (via Trade)
Price: €50.000

A good all-arounder that has no problem handling some hills. Perfect for breakaways and domestique duties.

William Walker

Nationality: Australian
Age: 31
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: Compal - Merida (via Trade)
Price: €50.000

A very similar rider to Mandri, Walker will be helpfull in timetrials, on hilly terrain and even flat races.

Alessandro Bazzana

Nationality: Italian
Age: 32
Wage: €65.000
Last Year: Aegon - Lavazza (via Trade)
Price: €50.000

A true breakaway specialist that has already proven his worth in other teams. Will be very aggressive and hopefully he'll be rewarded for that.

Bazzana won not one but two stages during last years Tour of Britain.

Juan Pablo Valencia

Nationality: Colombia
Age: 28
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: Grupo Nutresa (via Free Agency)

A small Colombian puncheur that should be usefull as a domestique.

Andoni Blazquez

Nationality: Spain
Age: 29
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: Free Agent

Spanish puncher that is the perfect minimum-wage domestique.

Jose Vicente Toribio

Natoinality: Spain
Age: 32
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: Free Agent.

Another Spanish puncheur that will be doing domestique work.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/2013/classancris12-1.jpg
Valencia, Blazquez and Toribio all rode together for the Iberia team in 2014 where did immense working helping Moreno winning the individual Continental title and the team take 2nd in the team standings.

Nazar Jumabekov

Nationality: Kazakhstan
Age: 29
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: ONCE-Eroski (via Trade)
Price: €50.000

Experienced rider from Kazakhstan that'll be usefull on both hilly and mountainous terrain.

Oleg Zemlyakov

Nationality: Kazakhstan
Age: 23
Wage: €50.000
Last Year: First Year

A young Kazakhstan rider that we took on to help develop into a good all arounder. Will be an important part of the team in the future.

In the end we're quite happy with the way our team turned out. We didn't have to overpay for any riders but still we managed to assemble a team that fits our goals (stay tuned cause they'll be announced soon). We have incredible depth for hilly races and hope this will lead us to glory. Planning will be very important because of having so many similar riders. Nationality-wise we had hoped to get a couple more riders from Kazakhstan. We tried to but riders that would fit well in the team were hard to come by because of high asking prices by their current managers and we don't like to overpay. Surely we'll try to get some more Kazakh riders next year. So this is it for now. I'd like to use this opportunity to thank the managers of Hugo Boss, Aegon, eBuddy, Compal and RBC for being willing to deal with us and also to thank all other managers with whom we had discussions but could not conclude to a deal.

I can't unsee that pic of Pozzato Frown

Team looks strong for the first season. Maybe a bit too much hill-focused, but then again, Bazzana alone might get you promotion Smile

I absolutely love your team! Navardauskas was one of my main ttransfer targets, and Pavarin a strong FA goal. And I´m still angry on myself for not taking Mandri...All in all your team looks stunning, and I hate to look at Navardauskas for clashing Tennant in my main goals...

Good luck for the promotion battle, your team looks to be in a great position for that Smile

Looking forward to seeing how Domenik Klemme copes with your hill focused team, could be an interesting battle as he doesn't have the greatest support.

Thanks guys. Tennant and Klemme will be two of our main competitors this season I'm sure.

Extra signing!

Once the team hit 15 riders we were quite sure that our squad was full but we had the opportunity to add another rider for free. Getting a rider without paying any wage nor any fee was a chance we couldn't miss and that's how we loaned in Mads Würtz. The first year rider is the biggest timetrial talent around and thus was signed by Grieg-Eftel for a hefty wage of €300.000. Grieg needed to loan him out to CT to help him develop and our team was the only team that the Grieg manager could find with a full loan cap still available. Würtz is a timetrialer with good powers on the flat where he can already be a valuable domestique in the Continental division.

That hilly depth... Silly Pfft A bit one-sided team of course, but should do good with some good race planning.

Thanks for taking on Würtz, really appreciated that late in transfers!

Loving your team (though not loving that Navardauskas didn´t make it to my team) Will be a very interesting season for you, as hills should be the best way to score. Even if the guys of hoyle and D2B have the best puncheurs, in terms of points depth means a lot and you look stunning in terms of that. My bet is P5-8, which is great for a start-up project.
I will follow your way 100%, and your team might be the one i like most to promote because of the great build-up, though I guess we´ll be rivals forever in this competition.

Good luck for your season from an opponent and fan!

Will follow this team closely for sure, love the focus and the gamble you took, as this could either turn out very well or very bad. I tend to believe the riders will score great though Smile Best of luck!

Olympic Champion rides for Ferrero - Samruk

2016 is an Olympic year and that has special meaning for Ferrero - Samruk as the team has the current Olympic Champion in it's squad. Pippo Pozzato joined during free agency and will prove this season that he is still one of the biggest stars in the peloton both because of his persona aswell by showcasing that he still has what it takes on the bike.

It was in London in 2012 on a route based around Box Hill that Pippo took the Olympic honour by holding off a storming peloton from which he had escaped a couple kilometres earlier.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/Olympic/Olympic141.jpg
Pozzato takes the victory in sky-blue. More to come?

To commemorate the Olympic Champion defending our colours we designed a beatiful banner.
i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa477/Spilak23/pippo_zpscjeszsay.png
Pippo showcasing his goldmemb..euhm his Gold Medal.

We hope Pippo gets the chance to defend his title in Rio but the rumours about the course being hilly to mountainous don't do good for his chances to be selected in the small squads each country has to choose.

Team Goals

With the season creeping closer and closer we felt this was the right time to present our goals. We chose them before the transfer season and as you can see we did well during transfers to assemble a team to achieve these goals. All four race goals are in hilly races hence the full focus on this terrain.

1. [C2] Tour of Almaty: Win

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/profiles/c2/c2_tal.png

Our main win goal was an easy choice. The Tour of Almaty is the only Kazakh race on the calender so it is easily our most important races. The succes of our season hinges for a good part on how succesfull we are here. Luckily our squad is well equipped for this terrain.

2. [C2HC] GP Yekaterinburg: Win

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/profiles/c2hc/c2hc_ykb.png

We keep it local for our second win goal aswel. The GP Yekatarinburg in Russia has a very similar route as the Tour of Almaty with another punchy uphill finish.

3. [C2] Clasico San Cristobal: Top 5

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/profiles/c2/c2_csc.png

Our third hilly classic we'll have a goal at is the opener to the Continental season in Cuba. Expectations are a bit lower this time as a top 5 will do but that don't mean we won't try to win.

4. [C2HC] Tour de Pologne: Top 5

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/profiles/c2hc/c2hc_tdp.png

We also chose one stage race as our goal. Still it's a very hilly affair with multiple hard days through medium mountains. Top 5 here should be achievable aswel.

5. Continental Team Standings: Top 10

Top 10 in the continental standings is something we feel won't be easy to achieve because the level in CT is very high this season but are still confident we will ultimately achieve this goal.

Stay tuned for our Race Calender which will be announced in the coming days.

If you only had some puncheurs to active those goals... Pfft

Seriously, awesome team which should give you a good chance to achieve your goals. Reminds me of Gazelle's strategy and I really hope it will be successful !

21. E. Barbin
22. A. Blazquez
23. A. Grivko
24. M. Krizek
25. R. Mandri
26. M. Pavarin
27. J. Toribio
28. J. Valencia

The team travelled to Cuba to start the season in San Cristobal. Immediately it was quite an important race as we had set a top 5 goal here. The competition was strong with both Dowsett and Klemme here but beforehand we were confident in Barbin to reach that goal.

The race itself turned out quite predictable with lead group of 7 forming over the final lap. These 7 would sprint it out on the hill towards the finish line. Barbin give his everything in that sprint but was tired from earlier efforts and could only watch as the others rode past him. It was MOL's Hategeka who sprinted to victory. 7th was quite a dissapointing result taking in mind the goal we had set. Atleast our depth on hilly terrain showed here as Toribio, Valencia, Pavarin and Krizek all managed to get into the top 20 aswel so not a bad day points scoring wise. Next up is our first forray into the higher levels as we go Down Under to challenge the PCT teams.

Sad missing out on the first goal of the season by two places, but still not a terrible result.
