Much of March had been raced by the first update, but for completion, let's start with the standings based just on the March scores.
1 | | Indosat - ANZ | 240 | 2 | | In-n-Out Cycling Team Powered By Carrefour | 210 | 3 | | Generali - Kronenbourg 1664 | 195 | 4 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | 167 | 5 | | Alpina - Avianca | 164 |
Giro del Trentino was the big race of the month, and though they did not win the race, Indosat-ANZ top scored there just as they did for the entire month. Onto April and they did win a race, Langkawi. But this time they were not the top scorers there!
Compal-Merida scored highest, to go with their win in Tokyo, and were the best team in April. South American duo Alpina and Sancor make up the Top 4 behind Indosat.
April:
1 | | Compal-Merida | 358 | 2 | | Indosat - ANZ | 255 | 3 | | Alpina - Avianca | 225 | 4 | | SanCor Cycling Team | 224 | 5 | | Fablok - Dunlop | 214 |
Clearly Compal and Indosat are going strong, so it is no surprise that they top the standings. Compal just edging ahead of their Asian rivals for now. Strava slip to 3rd while SanCor and Alpina both climb into promotion positions. A 10 place gain for the Colombian squad!
Delaval have moved up 4 and are only just short of a promotion position, meanwhile the Polish fight is also very close after Fablok jumped 2 to enter the Top 10. Novatek climbed strongly, up 8 positions to 15th, after a classic win. Carlsberg's classic win only helped to halt the slide, as they still lost 6 positions.
And it's good news for Elta as this update brings their first points of the season. Away from the bottom spot they go, up to 22nd. Not so good news for Sodexo then, but they have closed the gap in on Team Type 1 at least.
1 | 3 | | Compal-Merida | 782 | 2 | 2 | | Indosat - ANZ | 770 | 3 | 1 | | Strava | 564 | 4 | 8 | | SanCor Cycling Team | 504 | 5 | 15 | | Alpina - Avianca | 474 | 6 | 10 | | DeLaval - Kiitokori | 473 | 7 | 4 | | Generali - Kronenbourg 1664 | 442 | 8 | 7 | | Netia - Norske Skog | 439 | 9 | 11 | | Fablok - Dunlop | 437 | 10 | 5 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | 424 | 11 | 9 | | In-n-Out Cycling Team Powered By Carrefour | 396 | 12 | 6 | | Carlsberg - Danske Bank | 375 | 13 | 16 | | Severstal-Mercator | 347 | 14 | 12 | | Actavis - DKSH | 324 | 15 | 23 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 294 | 16 | 17 | | Verkefnid Iceland | 280 | 17 | 13 | | Chiquita - Universal p/b Minions | 263 | 18 | 20 | | BelarusBank Pro Cycling | 253 | 19 | 14 | | Gatorade - SIS | 247 | 20 | 19 | | Fox Sports - Golomt Cycling | 204 | 21 | 22 | | OTP Bank - Slovnaft | 202 | 22 | 26 | | Elta - Hellenic Post | 164 | 23 | 18 | | Fred Whitton Race Team | 157 | 24 | 21 | | Akzonobel - Statoil | 145 | 25 | 24 | | Team Type 1 | 73 | 26 | 25 | | Sodexo ProCycling | 65 |
Delaval really haven't raced that much so far, and it shows in the projected standings, as they go straight to the top. Generali are the others to move into the Top 5 as we see a slight reshuffling of the Top 10 here. Novatek and Elta are two other teams to gain notably from a PPrD standing.
| | | Team | Total | RD | PpRD | Proj | 1 | 6 | | DeLaval - Kiitokori | 473 | 27 | 17.52 | 2453 | 2 | 1 | | Compal-Merida | 782 | 58 | 13.48 | 1887 | 3 | 2 | | Indosat - ANZ | 770 | 58 | 13.28 | 1859 | 4 | 3 | | Strava | 564 | 47 | 12.00 | 1680 | 5 | 7 | | Generali - Kronenbourg 1664 | 442 | 42 | 10.52 | 1473 | 6 | 5 | | Alpina - Avianca | 474 | 46 | 10.30 | 1442 | 7 | 9 | | Fablok - Dunlop | 437 | 43 | 10.16 | 1422 | 8 | 4 | | SanCor Cycling Team | 504 | 51 | 9.88 | 1383 | 9 | 10 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | 424 | 45 | 9.42 | 1319 | 10 | 8 | | Netia - Norske Skog | 439 | 52 | 8.44 | 1182 | 11 | 15 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 294 | 35 | 8.40 | 1176 | 12 | 11 | | In-n-Out Cycling Team Powered By Carrefour | 396 | 48 | 8.25 | 1155 | 13 | 12 | | Carlsberg - Danske Bank | 375 | 47 | 7.98 | 1117 | 14 | 13 | | Severstal-Mercator | 347 | 46 | 7.54 | 1056 | 15 | 17 | | Chiquita - Universal p/b Minions | 263 | 40 | 6.58 | 921 | 16 | 22 | | Elta - Hellenic Post | 164 | 27 | 6.07 | 850 | 17 | 16 | | Verkefnid Iceland | 280 | 48 | 5.83 | 816 | 18 | 14 | | Actavis - DKSH | 324 | 56 | 5.79 | 811 | 19 | 19 | | Gatorade - SIS | 247 | 50 | 4.94 | 692 | 20 | 21 | | OTP Bank - Slovnaft | 202 | 46 | 4.39 | 615 | 21 | 18 | | BelarusBank Pro Cycling | 253 | 59 | 4.29 | 601 | 22 | 20 | | Fox Sports - Golomt Cycling | 204 | 51 | 4.00 | 560 | 23 | 24 | | Akzonobel - Statoil | 145 | 46 | 3.15 | 441 | 24 | 23 | | Fred Whitton Race Team | 157 | 56 | 2.80 | 392 | 25 | 25 | | Team Type 1 | 73 | 47 | 1.55 | 217 | 26 | 26 | | Sodexo ProCycling | 65 | 53 | 1.23 | 172 |
Maximiliano Richeze takes to the top of the Individual standings, ahead of former leader De Maar. Atapuma, Matthews, Hirt, Anacona and Pelucchi all also enter the Top 10. The latter has actually scored more than half of his points at the higher C1/HC level. The largest jump looks to be from Lavoine, into the Top 20 from outside the Top 300, having made a strong start to his points-scoring season.

Interesting to see how we were 3rd in March although Trentino was the only race where we actually scored decently.
April hurts my eyes, not that I expected more really. Just some low top 30 finishes in the classics afaik and some consistent top 10s at Azerbaijan by Finetto.
Too bad since we had an objective there but well.
Rest of the season should suit my best options (Rolland mostly) better than the first less-than-a-half.
But all in all, it's good to see us still in the top 5 in the PPRD ranking, even though I'm afraid the usual suspects (Compal, Indosat, DeLaval, Alpina and Strava) won't diminish their monthly scorings, so direct promotion looks a bit tough. But why am I making these predictions with about 6 months to race and who am I to make them?
Many thanks for the quick summary SN!

Great news, in the top 5 for both months and shooting back up the rankings, and PpRD looks very solid as well. Nice to see Strava maintaining a high position after a super start to the season, and also our compatriots SanCor.
Thanks again for the update SN.

Looked forward to this ranking like a kick in the nuts.. So, still third and I have to be happy about it. March selection was a downer and April were little races worth to focus on anyway. Goes without question that the Band 3 races with so little teams involved were a huge points haul for some teams which I really feared since the day the band selections were announced.. Kudos to them for playing it smart.
I'm sure we will score more points in the coming months again but last two months have been sudden drop unfortunately. Well, I just pretend it's down to Strava being the new kids on the block, it'll settle with time.

Well that would be depressing, if I didn't expect it. We had a nice win, but besides that all we had were Rasmussen's top 6's, which don't exactly score well for us. I never expected to be doing this well anyway, so I'm happy for what we have.
I can't help but think though if only Koep hadn't struggled so much, we might be right up there. But alas, Koep was a donation anyway, so any contribution he makes is a plus.

Very happy at where we're sitting right now. Our PPRD has definitely improved and I feel we can finish in the top 5 if we can stay consistent. I do however feel that we will drop a few spots and am quite worried about Delaval with their low RD. But very happy to see the SE Asian teams on top for now!
Thanks a lot SN for the update!

Overall ranking, and indeed the PpRD, looks much better now after a terrific April month. Cool to see our rivals and friends over at Indosat joining us at the top.
I had no idea DeLaval had so many race days to go, that might be a problem when it comes to winning the division, but top 3 now looks very achievable if we continue the kind of form we're in now.
Thank you for the update SN! |

Content with how things are playing out so far slowly climbing up the rankings while continueing to be surprisingly dominant in the projected rankings. Whether we'll be able to achieve it will be completely decided by my gamble on Tour of America.

Hmm not doing too bad with my pre-season picks.
Spoiler 1. Compal
2. Alpina
3. DeLavel
4. General Kronus
5. Strava
6. Fablok
7. Indosat
8. Natty Norske
9. In and out
10. Gatorade
11. Severstol
12. Fred Whitton
13. Chiquita
14. Novatel
15. Carlsberg
16. OTP Bank
17. Activuis
18. Rancor
19. Elta - Hellinic
20. Belerusbank
21. Lierse
22. AlkaNobel
23. Fox Sports
24. Sodexo
25. Iceland team
26. Team type one
I am pleased to see 'Rancor' doing far better than I initially predicted. Things can swing around very quickly in this division with gaps relatively small and odd breakaway wins or surprise high GC placings in C1 can really make a difference.
Pleased to see Indosat going well also. @shonak Strava are still going great guns Compal are just powerhouses of course.

Smowz - Two can play at that game!
Predicted Rankings:
1 | Compal - Merida | - | 2 | DeLaval – Kiitokori | -5 | 3 | Netia – Norske Skog | -5 | 4 | Indosat – ANZ | +2 | 5 | Alpina – Avianca | - | -- | | | 6 | Generali – Kronenberg 1664 | -1 | 7 | Severstal – Mercator | -6 | 8 | Strava | +5 | 9 | Fablok – Dunlop | - | 10 | In-n-Out Cycling Team Powered by Carrefour | -1 | 11 | Novatek – Panarmenian.net | -4 | 12 | Actavis – DKSH | -2 | 13 | SanCor Cycling Team | +9 | 14 | OTP Bank – Slovnaft | -7 | 15 | BelarusBank Pro Cycling | -3 | 16 | Akzonobel – Statoil | -8 | 17 | Fred Whitton Race Team | -7 | 18 | Gatorade – SIS | -1 | 19 | Chiquita – Universal p/b Minions | +2 | 20 | Team Carlsberg – Danske Bank | +8 | 21 | Elta – Hellenic Post | -1 | -- | 22 | Verkefnid Iceland | +6 | 23 | Lierse SK – Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | +13 | 24 | Sodexo ProCycling | -2 | 25 | Team Type 1 | - | 26 | Fox Sports – Golomt Cycling | +6 |
Above is what I predicted. Red = the team is below what I predicted, Green = the team is above what I predicted.
Overall I don't think I am a million miles away & I think I will be closer come the end of the season. The biggest differences are with Sancor and Lierse (the latter with what 200? points from luckyish HC races). DeLaval are set to climb the rankings and the teams which made progress on the cobbles will gently slide down with not many cobbles to come.
Shonak losing the top spot quicker than I thought. He will need to find some new ways of scoring points with the cobbles over running out. Whilst I feel I rated OTP Bank and Fred Whitton too highly. |
