So August rolls to a finish, and with 3 HC stage races, a HC classic and a C2HC stage race - amongst other action - it was a critical month for many.
Quickstep picked up their charge to win the PCT title, led by wins in Copenhagen and the Baltic Chain Tour. The promotion fight behind them really gathered pace, with CSC-Orbea 2nd best scorer but Bacardi and Venchi close behind. Oz still did well in 10th, surely all teams are deserving of a place in a PT next year!
In CT, Euskaltel's strong run has continued as they are the best team in the division again. Gambling on a HC race paid off for them, while the best race score of the month in CT came from Siam Cement after Rodrigues won Azerbaijan.

Quickstep move back to the top spot in their ongoing fight against Heineken. Oz keep hold of 3rd despite the charge from behind. It is CSC-Orbea who are in the unlucky 6th spot at the moment.
No new entries into the Top 10, altough Magna and Swedbank both made nice gains. Neiji are finally back in the Top 15 while Metinvest's safety looks all the more assured as they stride into the Top 20.
It's bad news at the bottom for Project Africa as they slip below two inactive teams and into the last relegation spot - although their fight with Hornbach is very close right now. Kenya Airways aren't safe either, but a gap is emerging to 22nd - Plouay earning RBC some breathing space.
Mobil have moved up to 27th and are not out of it either, though it is looking increasingly tough for Boeing and Belarusbank.

This month has certainly turned the tables as the top and Quickstep lead the way in projections now. CSC-Orbea still have work to do, and it seems Bacardi are their main target, despite currently being closer to Venchi.
It's been a season long pattern for Meiji to be projected upwards, and next season we find out if that will happen as the Tour of America helps them catch up on race days.
Karcher have raced the most and could be set to tumble outside the Top 20, but these standings do not look good at all for Project Africa, pushing them down to 29th. America will be critical down here, with Mobil, Boeing and Belarusbank all present.

Once-Eroski have made good progress recently and that is now completed as they hit the top spot, surprassing Grupo Nutresa. The battle it still tight with Bonsucro there too.
Now up into 4th and one of the guaranteed promotion promotion is Euskaltel. Who would have thought that 2 months ago? Former leaders Vontobel hold the 5th spot.
They are queueing up behind them though as Risa are close, and both Siam Cement and Sauber have moved into the Top 10, edging out Evonik and TomTom.
There's a bit of movement further down as Maloja climb 2 and Alpina move into the top 20 with a gain in 3. Team Live Nation also take themselves off bottom spot!

Bonsucro are still expected to win the division on prokections, they have after all raced about 21 race days less than their main rivals. How long was the Tour of America again?
The teams in the Top 10 are predicted to remain the same, but just look at the projected values to see how close it could be - 11 between Evonik, Siam Cement and TomTom. It is likely at least 10 teams will promote, so what if that is the battle for the final spot?
In-n-out are expected to rise up 4 places by the end of the season. I wonder where they are racing next month...

Mountains dominate the top of the individual rankings this year with Brajkovic topping the standings ahead of Marquez, Intxausti and Pozzovivvo. With Abal, surprise package Cataldo, and Uran in the Top 10 too - as well as all rounder Bibby.
There isn't much racing left for the Top 10 either. The Top 4 are all raced out, Van Stayen has 2 classics, Bibby has his home race the Tour of Britain and Holloway has 1 classic.
Everybody placed 11-19 meanwhile has plenty of races left still, so all will hope to move upwards. Catching Brajkovic will be very tough but it is clear that much can still change.

Vitor Rodrigues clocked up his 3rd stage race victory of the season in Azerbaijan, and still has two more left to come. His lead is looking strong already and he is favourite to win the Individual title. Closest challengers Wyss, Mendes and Geschke will all go head to head at Montreal, Cauberg and Yekaterinburg - while Wyss fits in Zuri-Metzgete as well.
Last year saw Thiago Nardin as a season long surprise package, ultimately ending 6th in the individual standings after leading for a while. While the Brazilian languishes in 218th in the PCT standings this year, a number of riders have emulated his over-performing nature to figure highly in the standings. See Marentes in 5th, Beltran in 8th and Borges in 12th. Kulhavy too is somewhat of a surprise presence in the Top 10.

A step down on the rankings, as expected after only nine race days. A step up with the pprd, so overall a decent month. Think I should be able to get in the top 5 before the end of the season, if I perform as expected. At least I hope so

Decent month that Nice to get a decent gap, would be cool to win the division after all this effort through the year.
Hoping Team Africa can somehow stay up. And finally an update Avin won't mention 'relegation' anywhere ...Pheww

Quite nice to see some old riders of mine doing surprisingly well (Cataldo), mediocre (Ignatiev, although his PT success has been good this season) and exceptional (Wyss).
Makes me feel like I did some good transfers, and not so good in losing out on some brilliant point scorers.

I was kinda fearing to lose our 3rd, but Bayern went pretty well to keep Oz up there. As said before, the Tour of Britain will be the key now. If Bobridge delivers, this would be a huge step towards defending our spot for promotion. Definitely looking good anyway. Pretty cool to have three riders in the individual rankings as well. Pretty new feeling for me  Rogers enjoying a nice season.
Quickstep though...  Awesome run.

Nice to see we finally move up in the rankings a little bit - we said top 20 was our aim after the last ranking update and after a good month we have got there. However, I'm a little concerned as to whether we can stay up there, although the projected rankings seem to show a fairly comfortable gap both ahead and behind I have a feeling with Forero only having one race left we may struggle to pick up many more points.
At the other end of the CT, the promotion battle is certainly getting quite exciting, especially considering it's uncertain as to just how many promotion places there will be, adding to the tension.

Comprehensive update SN, most welcome TY.
News for Nutresa in August was pretty dire with less than 4 PPRD reflecting pretty anonymous performances (fortunately we only suited up for 7 RD's). Quiet month in September, then our big guns are out in force for the last ditch fight to the wire in the promotion battle.
Putting recent performnances to one side, remain very pleased to see a maintenance of consistent scoring across the whole ranks of the team rather than being carried by just one or two riders (although Beltran is leading from the front!). Going to make life difficult during renewals/transfer season to finalise who is in or out, long-term pieces of the jigsaw puzzle, or stopgap solutions until a better option comes along.
Also surprised to see us in very respectable positions in the various regional rankings, with an pbvious focus on the home Americas market paying divideds inside the top 10; expect this to change dramatically after the upcoming CT GT in the US (we are not competing).
Overall starting to believe that promotion is perhaps now more likley than not, but don't want to count chickens and all that. Continuing to fight for the top 3 where we have been there or there abouts for most of the season would be the icing on the cake!
A quick word for our fellow South American colleagues; good to see Alpina getting some success and moking forward progress in the rankings. We are currently collaborating with Mobil at L'Avenir and continue to wish them well in their relegation battle in PCT.
Hope everyone out there is enjoying MG as much as I am; is proving great esscape/comfort in otherwise demoralising personal times. Hence a final msg of thanks/gratitude to the hardworking reporters.

Uran & Intxausti are done for this season. When looking at the rankings, they did alright but they could have done more. I guess Marquez & Brajkovic having a monster season certainly didn't help.
As for promotion, Ulissi still has quite a few races left, in which he should a good amount of points. I don't think we'll be able to catch Oz, seeing as Bobridge will most likely outscore Ulissi in Britain. If Di Maggio doesn't end up winning every end of the season classic, we might be able to stay ahead of Venchi, although it's going to be very close. Not sure what CSC still has left.

After a few disastrous races like Volta a Portugal and Baltic Chain Tour had expected a descent in ranking but fall out of the top20 is a hard blow.
It will be very difficult to finish in the top15, for this will need to finish the season the same way it started

I think you meant next month instead of next season when you were talking about Meiji catching up on race days at the Tour of America
Hopefully we win that race and win every sprint stage I regret not sending a GC guy to go, as we will just basically be a stage hunting team.

I thought we did an okay month, and well, scoring more than Belarusbank and Boeing could be regarded as a minor success, but this season has been a disaster for us and the only thing we can hope for in the dying cycling season is to minimize the gap down to us and make it look slightly "less bad".
Tour of Beijing (win goal) and Japan Cup will be the major races to prepare to for us, in order to do better in the Asia ranking (top 5).
But both those goal are extremely unlikely now, so ultimately, this will be one big disappointing season.

Getting tense now. We used up a lot of race days to get the 2nd most points this month. With Abal's season finished we are going to need our depth to pull a rabbit out of the hat to surpass either Bacardi or Venchi.
