We move into Croatia as the c2 racing action roles on.
With hilly, summit, finishes sandwiched between a prologue and a sprinters' stage it is right that the puncheurs are considered favourites for the GC here.
Bank of Ireland – Irish Cycling's Jose Mendes is arguably the most gifted rider on the continental circuit and also the most feared. He has already taken some impressive, yet predictable, results this season and starts as favourite for another GC here.
FCB - Polska are the only pro continental team to enter this race and in Lejman they have an outside hope for the GC. His chances are credible as he has already performed well in c2 races this season.
Earlier this month the Tour de Bretagne was raced, we have many riders who contested the GC there also present here. Duggan won the GC there and will be looking for another high result here, he is abily supported by Toribio. Marentes, 2 nd in Bretagne, also makes the startline here and is Azteca - NBCSN's best hope for GC glory.
Haas will start as a real GC favourite here and once again, as in Bretagne, he is supported by a strong team. Will Haas take the GC for Risa - Ergon?
This race is practically a home race for Team Nordeus, who bring some of the most able Croatians to the race. Bole will lead them, looking for similar performances as he achieved in Bretagne. Nordeus' questionable tactics again come into question here as they bring their star stage race rider, Yasmani Martinez, to the race. This is perhaps a waste of race days as the likes of Bole and Jovanovic look more suited to the terrain here.
Having said that it is very understandable that Nordeus should send their big guns here as they are the only team to have a direct goal here: that goal being to win the GC.
Geschke is one of the top sprinting puncheurs in the continental ranks, similar to Bole, he will be hoping that the hilly finishes aren't too selective so he has a chance at the GC through bonus seconds.
--
For the prologue riders looking for victory will be Elijzen and Renäng and if stage 4 ends up in a sprint we can expect Matthews and Haedo to be in the mix up.
Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team, Sauber Petronas Racing and Wounded Warrior Racing look the three weakest squads here. They will do well to get some points out of this race, expect them to make the breakaways.
Who will come out on top in Croatia?

Lejman should improve the performances to justify these incursions into the C2 races.
We are aiming for a podium spot in the GC. Hopefuly the ITT won’t penalize him too much.

Hope for a stage win and a top 3 in the GC here. Should be a good one.

Happy I didn't bother with a sprinter, with this size pack we'll need every man to pull back the break. Hoping for stage and GC from Mendes, but in such a short race, you never know.

I wish that opening TT was longer as it would help Zoidl more if it was. Still he should be fighting for a top 10 GC placing if things go right.

Mmm. Not our strongest line-up, but still with decent point-scoring potential. Should have a number of decent riders well placed after the prologue if all goes according to plan, then lets see what happens on the open road! No mention of Nutresa in the preview - hopefully this means we will fly under the radar of the favourites as opposed to being anonymous throughout .

Looking at the profiles there are a lot of question marks like
- Will PCM fuck up the time gaps in the prologue?
- Isn't the second stage's summit too hard for Geschke?
- How much time gaps will be accepted?
These are the questions that will decide how the race will end for my team.

I say: Go Fonte!
Have to admit I have no idea how strong Nutresa's riders are in general but Fonte should be good bet for a top 5/10 I guess...

Last stage race with high expectations for a long time. Team is one of the best we can sent. Worst that could happen for us is a 'Ruta America' like scenario where we weren't able to designate a distinct leader due to the prologue result.

Had hoped for more than a 7th place from Oba also unlucky that he is listed as the last from the ones that are 2 seconds behind. Happy about my two loanees Jiang and Uwizeyimana to be also in the top 15.
Ito my leader already lost 10 seconds, that could have been better. |

Nice! Obviously a bit of luck with the wind situation, but Zabalo is a solid TT/prologue option. Fonte also nicely placed. Lets see how the lads cope with defending the jersey (would prefer if they focus on Fonte for overall GC challenge!).
Thanks to The Rider for the sighting of Ibanez in his snazy national TT get-up .

One of the main things I like about PCM2013, gameplay wise, is the way prologues throw up surprises thanks to changes in wind as we saw at the prologue.
Scorchio - Shame the jersey didn't spur him on to a better result. |

Hmmm, not sure if I'm happy with that. Mendes getting s.t. is good, but realistically, he needs to win tomorrows stage to at least make the GC podium.

It`s nice to see Zabalo grabbing a win here and still in a nice GC position.
He was a solid rider in my last promotion season.
Geschke should have done a bit more here to be honest.
And Wyss is always there in the hilly races. One of the best CT riders this season. |

Good show from Nutresa, team defended the jersey with honour and Fonte still attentive at finish. More or less as desired. Will be interesting to see if Zabalo is as motivated to hang on to the top puncheurs in stage 3 without the extra buzz of the yellow jersey!

De Greef doing good, the rest of the team carefully making sure they won't be a GC threath and can go in the break tomorrow
