The Tour de Beauce returns after a one year absence with a hilly/ITT mix with the middle two stages set to be the decisive stages in what is a hard race with the other four stages far from simple.
Mont Megantic the finishing climb on stage 3 is a 6km and 9% average beast which is a really hard hill climb. Some teams seem to have predicted this to be close to a mountain top finish with a number of mountain climbers here including Moreno and Castano.
We also have a 25km ITT which is the flattest stage of the race and will suit the real power merchants. Schar leads his team who seem to have gambled on the TT specialist as their absolute leader.
The other four stages have three rated as flat, though they are looking difficult to control particularly the last two city circuit stages which both contain hard hills with the the loops. The fifth stage in Quebec finishes on the hill! Nethertheless we have a number of high quality sprinters here including Matthews, Vanderaerden, Vingerling and JJ Haedo.
This race is headlined however by a couple of really strong hilly riders including the winners of the two hilly classics at C2 level Gaimon and Tiernan-Locke. This duo will need to put time into the chrono men with riders like Bochman, Rosskopf, Dyball and Fonte around who can climb and ride a decent time trial gaps will need to be forced.
Indeed there are the usual bunch of 74+ hill men here with Passalacqua, Bugge, Ilias and Godoy possibly the most punchy.
A word to for the home favourites with RBC Pro Cycling providing and All Canadian team - not likely to produce the GC winner but certainly will be cheered on by the home fans!
Going to be a hard fought one this.

Kinda disappointed nt to get a mention but that is alright. Hoping for a good GC from Jeannesson and want to see him up with the favourites on stage 3. Also hoping for lots of breakaways from my team and a stge win would be good.

[Cough] Last years tour de beauce https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....d_id=30154 [/cough]
Surprised at the number of sprinters here just a look at last years results on nearly the same courses would of told you them stages are nearly hilly stages i think the last stage some GC favourites even attacked and on one of the flat stages Boily with 68 sprint was 2nd because it is so lumpy
I can see Parisen winning a stage possible he fits the description of rider this race suit plsu the nationality bonus and probably Sweeting to win the GC with bonus seconds.
IN tearms of my team Houle for a top 10 in GC and a couple of stages at least a couple goes in the break would be nice as well and obviously a stage win. |

Getting used to not getting a mention, but if the boys stay near the front for a change, a lot is possible
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Sent a very strong squad here.
People might not have taken the best choice with sending a puncher here. I took the gamble at least

I hope that Ito and Sayar will shine in the hilly stages and Uugunbayar, ah well I don't expect anything from him anymore anyways. |

With Elijzen and Stennard busy in Portugal it's a nice chance for Michael Schär to win a TT,... but he wasn't planned as our "absolute leader". Matteo Montaguti might not be able to go with the best uphill, though he not necessarily need to be distanced by far. Hope he can recompense time and places due to his relatively good TT-skills.

Well, Magna is here because I can't quite resist my Canadian patriotic interests...
Still Speirs should be able to do something in the sprints and Ilias can hopefully get something from the hillier stages. No one in the team can timetrial very well, so its stage results or nothing... which probably means this was a bad decision, points wise.
Oh well. Looking forward to it

I don't expect anything here. Hoping for some break appearences which should be possible as I don't have a leader to be protected. Hopefully, PCM AI thinks the same .

Godoy is both.
Looking at the terrain and the other comments it seems we will have some breaks making taking the win on a few stages. |

Looking forward to this one. Had to leave the big hitters of Nutresa at home to rest up after a great start to the season. Gives Fonte the chance to step up to leader position in a race quite well suited to his talents. Zabalo makes the proper start to his season as GC back-up. Three decent sprinters, and the usual youngsters for the breaks, and we're ready to rock and roll . Hoping for some good quality racing.

Was hoping for a weaker sprint startlist here, but Haddou will be ok. Dyball should at least get to attack this time.

Goal race, I actually have expectations in this one!
Seeing Rosskopf's performance in the earlier TT, I'm confident he can pull a lot of time on the 4th stage, but it's a question of how much he falls behind on the hillier routes. Will be interesting to see how decisive some of these stages are
As always, mediocre sprinters for our team.

Well nothing other than a breakaway was hoped for. Unfortunately no breakaway and Jeannesson finishing comfortably in 18th.

No, Siam Cement represents clean cycling!
I haven't expected a stage win here, so it's great that Poorseyedi got rewarded for his attacks. Only sucks that in flat finishes there are never gaps awarded. 20 seconds as cutoff is just too much in my oppinion. I don't think the gap wasn't given because he celebrated, because under the red kite the gap was already down to 20 seconds. So Mirsamad is not to blame.
I hope he can defend the leader jersey on the flat stage, what is not unlikely, and go into the Mont-Mégantic stage in a good position. Only a shame that he can't timetrial. |

JTL a little passive on the stage but a top 10 is ok, but we need a stage win to complete our goal, good racing from Semple to be in the best young rider jersey though

Great ride from both Rosskopf and Ospina(!)! Not only a good stage placing, but if this is any indication of the hillier routes to come, I'm more than confident we can hold our own on stage 3 and make up time in the TT! Domestiques are doing really solid work too.
