I am trying to create a stage using a real route from Bike Route Toaster. After I enter the route into the top view to get the black line to appear, what is the best/easiest way to create the road along it?
The Links in the thread you linked to are down, both the PDF as well as the GPX files.
Would love to get into this as well, mainly doing stages for my own amusements (i.e. interesting routes but not caring one bit about things like towns and vegetation)
I figured it out. For anyone else that runs into this problem, there's a lock view button that, if disabled, will allow you to move zoom in on the top view to accurately trace the black line with a road.
Now, how do I make cobbled sections? I'm working on a four day, fictional tour that I may release for everyone. It's going to feature one flat, windy stage (think 100 kmh winds), a 75 km time trial, another stage with cobblestones, and a hilly classic. I'd like for it to replace the World Championships in my career, but I do not think that is possible!
For adding cobbles, click on the road point, then in the menu in the right there'll be a list with road textures (except for cobbles and maybe gravel, they all have the same effect afaik, with the only effect being the texture change). Roads 07 and 08 are cobbles I think. If you have the box "Spline" checked changes will apply to the whole road. To name and give a rating to cobbles, change to spline camera (one of the menus in the top).

Could you explain more please? I don't get it at all
I'm affecting my cobble road but how to set a name and a paved section?
I happened to find a .pdf which contains some basic explanation of creating stages in English. I also found the .gpx and .zcts of the tutorial linked by Spilak on post #2, but it doesn't include the .pdf that has the explanation (and the one in that thread is offline), so this particularly is not of much help Well, the other PDF might be. So the files are attached if it helps anyone
Great luigi, had to be someone who speaks Portuguese to solve the problem! a question: this tutorial includes how to put various types of road? and how to know the kilometers. how I could explain... when we create the stage, how to know the exact kilometers.

Since you add the route-flags, you will see the length in the height profile-view. There are also red and blue lines which make it possible to measure a specific area.

The .gpx files only open in the stage editor if there are .dem files for that region, right?
Right!
...but there can be other reason for a .gpx not to open in the stage editor.
e.g. special letters or characters... might be worth a try to rename the .gpx you want to use into abc.gpx and put it on the desktop.
Move the points that are too close from each other away from each other
edit:
@jotadani: If you have an intersection, you should go to the road screen where you can select textures etc. There you can choose to place a roundabout at the intersection
