Rogaland GP Preview
May 18, 2013 : Europe C1 : Norway
Over 23kms of climbing in a 193km race. It's crazy to call this race flat,
but the organizers have. So who will survive the sprinters or punchuers.
Napolitano is the man to beat, as he is with most flat classics, but this is no ordinary flat classic. Evian is coming in on a hot streak and will look to continue their success.
Prio-Porto have two cards to play with in Avelino and Ventoso. Avelino the most traditional sprinter and Ventoso the best hilly sprinter in the PCT.
Vueling are in similar situation as Prio be bring their top sprinter Kennaugh along with hilly sprinter Reimer. They are also very deep in support by bring Van der Sande and Kadri.
A Russian invasion of Norway with a very deep Tinkoff squad. Krasnov will lead the team but they have Trusov, Galimzyanov, and Timofeev if he falters.
The home crowd gets 1 Norwegian team to cheer on this year CT Risa.
But the fans that show up roadside will mostly likely cheering on fellow Scandinavians Sweedbank if they aren't to busy watching their home team Aker perform at the Giro. Kreder is their top sprinter looking for a good result in this strong field. While Risa has Sutton to hope on. Also you have the CT Sweden team here Vattenfall but they will most likely be happy just to get in the breakaway as their sprinters don't stand a chance on paper.
Farrar and Keough look over-matched in this race as both aren't great on hills and aren't the fastest sprinters either. But they should come in with a lot of nationalism pride given that American Taylor Phinney is winning the Giro. Or it could hinder them as it's all they have been asked by the reporters since they have arrived here in Norway.
Sram is goes with another duo of Haussler and Wegmann. Haussler the better sprinter and Wegmann the punchuer with some kick.
With such a deep field here are just a few other riders that could challenge. They can't be overlooked as many have already shown they can be dangerous (ex. Hoffman and Dall'Antonia).
Guarnieri
Hoffman
Arashiro
Dall'Antonia
Peeters
Drujon
Iglinski
And lastly are HTC Niewsblad. I'm not sure what they were think, or maybe we got the wrong start list. They bring out their cobblers. Baugnies and De Haes will be disappointed to know there are no paved sections here.

Baugnies does well in basically ever classic that has at least some hills in it, similar to Vanspeybrouck. He could do Top 10, with bit of luck on his side, but also we could be well down nowhere to be seen.
The pressure is away from us though for this race, to stay up we need Marquez perform alright in the moutains and get few points from likes of Maar or Armee * fingers crossed *

Someone like Ventoso or Haussler should win this, combining good hills and good sprint stats.
Should, but knowing the AI, a pure sprinter will win.

I guess the transfer season didn't go as I planned when having this as a win goal
Will be hard for Kreder/Giaux/van Hummel/Hushovd to complete that, my best chance may be if Hermans makes a late attack |

I'd like a win, but considering the depth of hilly sprinters here then I'd take a Top 5. Where's the GP Tunis thread though, or have I missed it? |

Aiming for a podium spot here. My guess is that either Napolitano or Ventoso will win, depending on how hard the AI makes the race.

Three pretty big names in Nappy, Haus and the Hoff.
It's the Hoff for me just because the guy barely does no wrong.

Bennati won here last year, but it's a completely different route.
Obvious favourite is Hoffman for no rational reason but results.
Ventoso is the favourite based on stats for me, but we have to see whether the game favours Avelino. Same with Reimer.
If hill stat doesn't matter that much again, Haussler is a good bet.
You have some, ehm, interesting nicknames there Smowz

Should be a fight between Napolitano and Ventoso. Me and Metinvest are going to unite to Dall'Antonia and Hoffman to win this. |

Our home race, racing in the tracks of our main sponsor, Risa. Have a top 5 goal here, so I'll hope for a sensational sprint or a break.

Based on results, I think Hoffman is the man to beat, followed by Haussler and maybe Ventoso. Napolitano vs Kennaugh vs Avelino if the AI makes a joke out of that sprinter-murdering hill.

AMEX is here, but as the preview said we look a bit over matched. We need Bart Veyt to get in the break and take some pressure off, then have our sprinters perform.
Looking for a top 10 and myabe 3 points earners.

As with all his sprint classics, Drujon is just aiming for a top 10. He should be able to handle the hills better than most, though honestly I think a late attack could well take this one.

That hill looks pretty steep, still a TCS sprint train is possible!

7th, 9th and 20th is way more than I expected so good little race for us again.
And yes Mre, after your harsh words on our team I did expect a strong showing from our boys
Glad this ended properly, and not in a bunch sprint, good little race as well. Tinkoff is on fire! So is Breschel! Hoffman disappointed from that group.

A surprisingly good race to read. A lot of big sprinters will be disappointed but this didn't look the easiest of profiles.
Tinkoff pop up with another valuable win.

Nice to see a split on such a race! I suspect Prio Porto will be very disspointed as Ventoso should have been in the first group.
And Hoffman is not impossible to beat
