Vueling, VW, Bouygues are dogpoo as well . So that leaves five from ten to go down imo:
:earn the lessons of ING and Prio don't overpay for some useless bastard.
Learn the lessons from Bpost, don't be unlucky with AI all year.
Learn the lessons of Rothaus don't buy Gomez Marchante.
Learn the lessons of Santander, don't have a team that will do sweet FA in 90% of the races!
Littered post with smilys as don't want to cause offence
I'd be more inclined to assume that my team and ING relegated because our teams were generally shitty, ie we didn't have very good depth. Our leaders performed more or less according to what would be expected of them, give or take one or two races.
Bpost and Rothaus could very well have had a quieter season, were the AI more sympathetic to them.
Santander too actually. The spaniards were imo, too unlucky as well. Of course their strategy is risky and goes against everything you should do in PT, but did their leaders underperform? Absolutely!

The gap has closed slightly to those below us... I still think Ben Nasser can save us with his last seven racedays in Beijing and Japan. It'll definitely be close though and largely dependent on Faso.
Looking like Gazelle could promote now along with those above them, proving how much of a class act DubbelDekker is.
As far as continental rankings are concerned it is likely that it will be the top ten that will promote. Could turn out to be two of Sauber, Azteca and TomTom. Should be another interesting fight to follow in the final few races. |

I think Siam should be included in that fight as Rodrigues could win both RCN and Utah which would put them in the mix with us Tom Tom and Azteca, they might even jump me by the end of RCN.
I think my team should be about even against Azteca at Utah, at least I can't see us losing too much against them, although Siam would beat us both convincingly as there's a real chance Rodrigues could win in.
I'd like to think Schurter will outscore Tom Tom and Siam at Zuri Metzgete, especially as it's his and the team's home race, however I doubt it would be by enough to re overhaul Siam after they pull away from us at Utah and I don't know if our combined Utah and Zuri points haul will be enough to pull back the deficit on Tom Tom and Azteca as they seem to be having a better RCN than us so there could be quite a gap to pull back once that's finished.

12th place still seems within reach, Repsol, Magna, AMEX and Kazzinc don't really seem to have much scoring potential left.
Neither do we after Faso though, so that has to go really really well.
Also, champagne for repdigit 2222!

And now, Clasico RCN.
Bonsucro defended their lead well and it looks hard for Nutresa to close the gap. Euskaltel's good fortune continues, they move to within a point of Vontobel after overtaking Risa.
Azteca and Siam Cement really enjoyed strong races, with Azteca almost in line with Evonik now. It was enough for Siam to enter the Top 10, just ahed of TomTom who may now struggle to return to the Top 10, and may yet be passed by Sauber.
Alpina move up to 22nd, and almost make it to 21st. Chiquita edge 1 point ahead of Wounded Warrior for 24th.

Pretty average RCN Points Wise. But 4th spot looks almost guaranteed. Need a good Utah and hope Vontrobell doesn't do too well in Zuri-Metzgete.

CT Title looks unlucky now that we scored less than espected in RCN and Bonsucro again with a slightly surprising strong result at the RCN classic. Bonsucro are holding on strong and probably deserve the title though considering how unlucky they were at Tour of America aswell.
Anyway bigger miracles has happened, Arroyo can win races aswell and suddenly it could become tense again

The CT title fight is interesting between Bonsucro and ONCE. Guess i'll side with ONCE because underdog's stick together.
Shame the promotion fights a little muted with the high numbers of teams to be removed at the end of the year. But Top10 pride is at stake for those guys, which should be a nice drive for the last few races, although TomTom look set for 11th or 12th now.

True, but it is a nice change that we don't have to skip any inactive CT teams when considering who promotes. If I see it right, Nordeus in 13th is the first.

Very nice indeed and yes it would be Nordeus the first to skip, at which point a potentially relegating team might lose his sh*t if we have to go further

TTT still not even 100 points behind - we'll all be on the edge of our seats at BoI HQ until Zuri is over and the Top 10 battle finally decided. Luckily RCN is over now, it was way too good for our direct rivals.
Utah will probably be much the same, but at least we can score the odd point there ourselves.

Thanks for another quick update !
After RCN I'm very sure that Evonik finishes 10th. I'll have a very hard time to surpass BoI and it has to be expected that Azteca scores better than me. Siam has still one stage race to go and if Rodrigues does not crash out then they'll overtake us, too.
TTT should stay behind us due to having only one classic left And I'm confident to stay ahead ahead of Sauber.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Thanks @SN for the latest nail-biting update. Third looks in the bag now for Nutresa, but gaps to 1st and 2nd difficult to make up now with so little RD's to go. Then again, both races are C2HC points, so we will see. Will be important to keep pace with Bonsucro and ONCE at Utah, and then roll the dice on the last day @Zurich; I think we are generally stronger on hill races so not throwing in the towel yet.
If offered 3rd in CT at the start of the season, would have grabbed it with both hands, so overall have to be .
Will be crucial to see come seasons end exactly how many promotion slots will become avaialble after the fall-out from the 2 divisions above. Would be good in the CT context if all above Nordeus make it. Would be a real shame to see in particular Sauber miss out given decisions last season. With a number of active teams relegating from PCT season as was missing this year will make promotion much more difficult for those remaining and the new intake in 2015. Hopefully our countrymen at Alpina can emerge as a real contender next year (lots of talents should be progressing!).

I've got to say I think we'll probably finish 11th, only jumping TTT unless Schurter manages to pull out a surprise win in Zuri Metzgete.
Something tells me that if I want to complete my top 10 CT standings goal then I definitely need to beat last years end of season results of 7th GC and youth jersey at Utah and 14th at Zuri Metzgete, even if there are more points to play for in both races now.

Thanks for the update, SN!
Awesome that we're still in the battle for 4th. Could turn out a thrilling finale for us at Züri if Risa and Euskaltel are within reach. To make up 40, 50 ranking points is absolutely achievable... even winning our home race isn't insane talk.

Nice to see that we're already in the top 10. I didn't expect that to happen after RCN already. With Utah still to come I don't think TTT is still a threat and I doubt that Sauber will overtake us, so that means 5/5 goals accomplished.
Considering that Utah is a C2HC race and looking at the points scored in Colombia 7th in the ranking is still an option.
But however it turns out I'm very happy with the season. The best a season preview predicted us was 14th and then people said that was an optimistic prediction. I got very lucky with Rodrigues beating Arroyo and Iglinsky in almost every race. Maybe I'm the second luckiest CT team after Euskaltel. |

It isn't luck, it's late season Tactical prowess.

Glad to see Nutresa have been doing so well, with a highly impressive podium finish on the cards.
Thanks for the encouragement, although indeed lots of talent will be progressing, we will probably want to loan out one or two strong riders who need maxing out. Difficult decisions for us as to whether we try and retain riders like Chamorro who will be significantly better next year than this year and try and push for promotion, delaying his maxing out by a year, or whether we look to a three-year strategy for promotion, loaning out riders this year in order to have them come back

What's the current guestimation for this? It's a five-team promotion, right, plus whatever space opens up from extra teams getting promoted + folding teams in the PCT, right? Or is the size of the PCT not set in stone, so only a couple extra spots will open up? I asked this question about PT-PCT, but realized I didn't ask it for PCT-CT. |

You'll probably be ahead, to be honest. Can't see myself scoring a lot of points in Utah.
