Nice to see Jay T in the break today for WCC, maybe could have done a wee bit better in the sprint finish, but had to complain when we at least make a successful BotD. Maybe the fact he seems to have lost his own NC kit and is instead wearing what looks like the Seychelles national kit rather than his own RSA colours might be limiting his movement?
JAC rocking it in his NC kit though to take the bunch sprint, a great peformance from him on the day. He is certainly one who is benefitting from so much of the PCT sprint royalty being in Ireland this week!

Nice one from Caruso, taking a stage win and a GC jump to put him back in the fight for the minor points!

A bit disappointing that Caruso lost more time today but isn't overly surprising after his efforts in the previous stage. He's got tomorrow to try make up lost time. Impressed with Zingle's efforts but no points from him. Hoping that Zingle or Le Gac will get into a successful attack/breakaway on stage 6 and gain some GC places. This was never going to be a great race for us but would be nice to see someone higher than Caruso's 20th GC.

A better day for Dyrnes here, and cool to see Netia still going for it! So close to getting a stage win and not much on GC, as was foretold

Awesome racing by our team there! I'm pretty sure LLS' final victory was on this stage last year, so we really tried to repeat that, Bernas in the break, Dyrnes and Honkisz attacking and the Norweigen taking 3rd, really respectable for our home race! Especially after some disappointing stages, really proud with that!
15th on GC right now thanks to the time bonuses, I can't really expect more, so would be really pleased if he could hold that, but just really happy that riders who should be our attackers, like Bernas and Honkisz are taking the initiative and that our leader feel likes he cares!
Thank you very much for the awesome report Roturn! Also congrats Vien on the stage and Eden on surprisingly grabbing the overall lead for now!

Waeytens really is a special rider. He just sits there in the back, passing guys who get dropped.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

There’s the Lutsenko I expected to the up for the race, albeit a few days late.
Another top-shelf performance form Anuar Aziz! Having a terrific race so far. Leading the GC a stage too early I think, we’ve got like 6-7 races in early-mid Feb so were a few riders short here. Hopefully we don’t need to chase too hard or we’ll be in a bit of trouble
Ulissi, Schreurs and Lutsenko closing in for the kill in the final few stages is concerning; AA has done so well so far, if he can at least secure a top-5 that’s a victory in my books
Thanks for the report!

Costa protecting his top 10 place is all I can hope for I think. Job done on this stage at least. Navardauskas and the other Costa moving up a bit in the GC in nice. Congrats Vien

That's more like it!! Thanks on the congrats
Seems like Lutsenko learned from stage 3 and attacked early this time. It worked out really well, though it's sad to see no time gaps. But 25 points and a chance to win the green jersey is fine for me.
Still hoping he can do this again tomorrow and climb a spot of two Ty for the reports roturn. |

At least there were no gaps to Bystrom, but again everyone else is losing time like if they don't care about this race.
Pirazzi joined the breakaway, hopefully his first of many breakaways this season, but got nothing out of it.
Thanks for the reports roturn!

I liked Hansen in the break, though I was hoping a puncher of his type and caliber would not go down so easily without a fight when the breakaway was caught.
On the other hand, JJ has been extremely anonymous which is not usually what I like to see from him. Still, he's 12th overall. That in itself is not bad, it's just not the way I'd like to go about it with his acceleration. Hopefully he gets aggressive on the final stage.

Stage 5 was pretty much a massive success for WCC with first R-G in the break, then Boily being active and therefore able to support Betancourt in the finale. Assuming this stage had a minor contribution from the mountain stat rather than a pure puncheur day from the outcome, and WCC's step up from the preceeding hill stages. Race is interestingly poised, but stage 6 looks like the queen stage. Hopefully my guys have kept some strength back for it and not used it all up on stage 5! Leading the team standings now is neat given we lost quite important time on stage 2, hopefully Betancourt, Boily, et al. can keep stage 5 momentum up to secure the team, and further improve their GC prospects.
Not going to deliver the sponsors desired win goal, but this was recognised from the outset. AA doing a great job being in the lead at this stage, likely gonna be a big battle now between the '81' guys to settle the score.

Meh...
Close, but not good enough. That's the story of this race so far. Not bad enough to call this a flop, but this shoudln't become the standard.
Will calm down a bit and wait for stage 7 to form a real opinion though, for now, grats to Generali and Indosat already |

Yes!!!!
First win of the season, and one that comes at a very opportune time! In one of our home races, Barbin has played it too cool throughout, disappointing team management every hilly stage. Vanendert even took the 'lead' in stage 5.
Barbin's attacks on stage 6 and the ultimately crushing acceleration over Ulissi pops him into 14th in the GC, and into the hearts of Kulczyk fans worldwide. Love the savvy to save his energy for the all-important final hilly stage, and it looks like we'll pick up around 90 points overall. For a part of our squad that is relatively weak this year, that's not too shabby. Very pleased with how he's managed to salvage something from this race, and bring home our very first PCT stage win
Thanks for the reports throughout roturn, especially this one
Hope Lavoine can show up tomorrow and add some bonus points to the haul...

I mean, 12th for Juul-Jensen is fine. It's not bad. It's about where I expected on GC. But it's not what I like to see from him. I don't like anonymity. He should be attacking as much as he can, whether it costs him GC wise or not. But alas, it could be worse.
Hopefully AKA has a good sprint tomorrow.

Not quite enough for me to proclaim BELLIS-simmo but I am very happy with what we have achieved here, with not much expected on the last stage I hope we can maintain 8th in the GC with a high placing on the last stage with Bellis and a break away appearance/win???

We'll start with the negatives here. Caruso drops further in the GC from 20th down to 24th. It is disappointing that he has been awful throughout this race other than his breakaway win on the flat stage. Zingle also only 2 places from gaining extra points by being Top 35 in the GC, if he didn't lose all that time on the first hilly stage then he'd still be in with a shot of a good GC himself. Love PCM for ruining the GC chances of my best riders.
On the positive side, Le Gac in the breakaway which is hopefully going to be a common sight again this season! Moving himself up to 4th in the KOM means he scores the points Caruso lost from his GC decline. The young Frenchman is going to have to score fairly well from KOM & U25 again this season to make up for the points Caruso won't get.
Now onto this final stage. Hopefully we stay out of trouble. Wouldn't mind seeing one of our riders in the breakaway but at the same time I want to see my riders attempt to deliver Bouhanni to a stage win
