It's the other way around. The podium girls gets distracted by Danny Pate. Where do you think he is when he should be at the podium after every race? He's off "distracting" the podium girls!
sorry my bad! You are correct!

Danny Pate retired from cycling in 1983. His legs have not stopped him winning.

Back in 07 or whenever, CT, Dankan, and co. made a really big deal about how the new PCM.daily db was going to be released earlier than expected...of course, no one was really paying attention to the fact that they released it on April 1st. The result? A db with 50 stats for every rider for every category...except Mads Kaggestad, who had 85s on everything. Classic. Mike actually had to post in the news a note explaining to irate people that it was a joke.
That reminds me, what exactly is the PCM.daily joke rider power poll?
To me, it's:
1. Mads Kaggestad (will never, ever, be topped)
2. Yannick Talabardon (destroyer of birthday presents, anyone?)
3. Danny Pate (and making a run)
4. Guillaume Blot
5. ...not sure... |

Alright you've had your laugh. Someone needs to lock this garbage spam thread or move it to the Off Topic or delete it all together. I've seen enough.
Are you seriously comparing Danny Pate with Mads Kaggestad and Talabardon now??? Would you do this to Jens Voigt or George Hincapie?? I've just been trying to get Danny Pate the credit he deserves as one of the most underrated hidden gems in Pro Cycling, and it seems as though everyone here has just ignored everything I have said because now it looks like you all think he is just a joke.
This is offensive and disrespectful to Danny Pate and I sincerely hope he doesn't ever find this.

He's a great hard working domestique. I agree. The problem is you think he is some sort of legend. That's ridiculous.

Joke rider... Don't see many joke riders with a TdF podium finish and a Giro Stage win. Yeah right, he sure is a joke. World Time Trial Champion??

Bushwackers. Seriously, people are kidding. The point is that he's a journeyman WT/Pro Conti level rider, and you talk about every accomplishment of his like it proves he's an all-time great. He's decent, no more, no less. |

I never said he's a legend, I just said he's one of the best domestiques who would shine a lot more in a clean peloton if he were given the opportunities that he deserves. That's pretty much my main point, and then everyone starts bashing him. Bunch of illogical Pate Hate.

Alright everyone is talking like he has no results. Go look at them! They're right there for everyone to see, multiple GT podiums, World Champion, podium in Criterium International, GP Montreal KoM winner, I could go on.
And Pro Conti level rider?
Please, he's one of the Top-5 domestiques in the ProTour, and one of the better riders in the hills and time trials.

The point is everyone is doing it to annoy you. Stop feeding the flames, and it will stop.

Actually I was just doing it because it was quite fun. And I can't hate Pate, that would be unamerican.

Can't see how this is 'Pate Hate'. In fact, if a break containing Pate was going to success I'd surely cheer for him
But I mean, Voigt has also got the https://www.jensvoigtfacts.com/ and that's certainly not Voigt Hate. And we're not talking like he has no results. Just making fun dude
And I agree you have never said he was a legend or something, but arguments like "Pate is a better climber than M.Rogers [who has a Giro Top 10] because Pate has a TdF mountain stage podium, while Rogers hasn't" does kinda ask for these kind of jokes

Now, back on topic. Danny Pate only rides a bike with a box of thick bulletproof glass around it. He affectionately calls it the "Patemobile".

Pate doesn't need a bulletproof bike. He simply outruns bullets

I definitely don't hate Pate. In fact, it's like lluuiiggii said, I cheer for him now if I see him in a race.
This thread is just screwing around, no one here has any disrespect for Pate or thinks he's a bad rider. It's just humor. |
