Winner of the Tour gets 200 points, so I'm quiete sure it's gonna be Froome.
Or Sagan needs to win all the fall classics, Gilbert 2011 style.
Btw, winning this means horseshit, WT-ranking is only relevant for selecting the teams for next year's WT and for selecting the amount of riders for worldchampionships.

Actually only for the WC. The UCI has the Uci Sporting Value points for deciding WT status

Only 5 best classified riders count for team and coubtry ranking. Sky's 5 best are Froome, Porte, Uran, Henao and Thomas. |

Dan Martin has Ireland in the top 15 with all of their points.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Forgive my ignorance, but why does the UCI tour leader not wear the leader jersey anymore? I know several years ago I saw a rider wearing a pale jersey, and I had to look it up that it was the UCI leader, but why do they not wear that jersey anymore? |

But the thing is that a rider who wins this could demand a bigger contract from their current teams because 1) They can pretty much guarantee a WT place on their own and 2) There is more publicity associated with it. So winning this is a pretty big deal for a rider - just look at Purito going out of his way to making sure that he did.

Certainly there is a white European Tour jersey for the best in non-WT rankings, which is probably what you saw. The thing is that they only wear that jersey in non-WT races. Here is some information on it:
https://www.cyclin...ers-jersey
Or it could refer to the old UCI World Cup which had a white leader's jersey, but that stopped in 2004:

Back in 2005-06'ish, when it was stilled called the ProTour, it had a leaders jersey. Thing is, riders weren't all that keen to wear it. Tom Boonen actually went as far as having a special ProTour leader/World Champion-jersey made, because he didn't fancy wearing it.
EDIT: This is the one

I'm pretty sure that Purito just wanted to win La Flesh, Giro, Vuelta and Lombardia and wasn't busy with "I need to score in those races to win the WT".

Lotto struggling
Saxo-Tinkoff seem to be fairly safe without Contador's points, mainly thanks to Kreuziger.

The points system really sucks.
Meersman (the best Belgian this season) his points don't even count for our Country points. So he isn't one of our top 5 points scorers
Same for Argos and Kittel being so low on the rankings

Nibali has Pologne, Vuelta and Lombardia were he is top favourite so think he will overtake him

Sad to see Lotto so low, it would be a shame of they dropped out. Vanendert sick during Ardennes and VDB crashed out of the Tour. Let's hope they get some points in the upcoming classics
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yeah, the country ranking is weird. It's focused on the top 5 riders of each country, so it's a disadvantage to the bigger cycling countries which have more than 5 scoring riders. I've never understand why.
My theory is that it's to protect the top riders from smaller cycling countries (f.e. sagan) so that they can have plenty of domestiques to make a shot at the world title. |
