Finally learned how to work with my first Smartphone. First night all my money drained because internet was on. Then someone called me and I didn't know how to answer. Hope this is the end of my struggle with that phone. |

Sorry to double post, but something that really annoys me is when someone says they dont have time to update their story, but then right away they start another story, or say the have a new story coming soon.
Just say you dont want to continue that particular story

That really is a point of concern... Though, i believe its a lot worse to start 20 stories and dont even make it out of february... I dont want to pin point anyone, but i have seen it quite often over the last year...

I don't know if you're referring to me, but if you are, let me tell you this:
When I start a story (generally) and I update frequently (by that I mean daily), I feel obligated to keep updating on a daily basis. Continuing the story without those updates would ruin it, in my opinion.
Therefore I quit the story because of a shortage of time. However, I can start a new story, but where I make it clear from the start that updates can be rare. Some days there are many updates, other days there are none. This story is based around that and therefore won't be ruined by the lack of updates in some periods.
It's a bit strange but that's the way I feel about it. Just wanted to explain myself.

I was not talking about you but you did do it, now that I look at it
And Miggi I do start a lot of stories, and I really wish I didnt, but to be fair 2/3 of my stories this year are still active (depending on your definition of active ) and I think I only have 3 threads a year which is still too much I admit, but I cant go back and change that now...
Might not have been talking about me, however just felt like saying.

I don't think that it's that bad. Everyone's allowed to try and allowed to fail. It isn't that easy creating a good story and staying motivated. If people weren't allowed to fail once in a while, we wouldn't have a lot of stories.
Losing motivation is deadly for a story writer, and that can happen oh-so easily. I think everyone here knows what I'm talking about |

That makes no sense. You could just say that in your current story. No need to start new.

I understand that must make no sense to you, but it's something I feel has to be done. Call it an autistic side I have or what, but I can't help it. |

Something I want to add to these discussion about stories, see it as an advice.
I see a lot of people who start a thread about a story they want to start. They then announce that they will wait for a DB and make very long intro's which i think is a lot of work. Once the DB is out, they start their story but can't get past the Australian championships cause they have lost intrest.
So my advice: Start a story, start the career immediately, make one or two short intro's/presentations and start playing!
Edit: I give this advice because I read a lot of nice long intro's and think that that particular storywriter would make great reports. It's a shame then to see that the story doesn't even start reporting races...

As I said, I didnt want to pin point anyone in particular. I just noted that several people often start storues like crazy because they come up with a new idea etc. and the drop it quite soon after because they want to gtet on with the playing quicker than they can report! By the way, I followed your first Caisse Story and your veilleux one, the latter one going quite long (a season if i remember right?) at least longer than the average story!
@ Ian: If i remember right, some people suggested that you should just continue your europcar story and update whenever you can... You however said, that you would feel obliged to post regular updates in a story... Could have just said that updates will be irregular and people would have supported that view. Afterall, Education / Job / life come first before anything else! Hell, I waited close to half year for squire to update his Discovery Channel story once again and as soon as he did, people were back reading. A storydoesnt depend on the quantity but on quality... For me it just seems that you simply lost motivation to go through the whole process of a 2 rider story again even though you were so far ahead with one before and you just didnt want the story to look like a failure.
Thats my opinion! Doesnt mean that its right though!
EDIT: By the way, if this comment offends you (read it in general terms), it is not intended to do so. Its just my view on things, so forgive me if my long speech is not this go happy ending go type! I infact do respect everyones decision!

You are right and wrong.
I did lose motivation for the Europcar story, but not because of the reason you said (I was really into it, I frequently play with 2 riders in PCM careers, long before I was making stories here), I lost motivation because of the time shortage. I realized I wasn't going to be able to make this story go at a steady pace and that's how I lost motivation of it altogether. I couldn't motivate myself to continue the story at a slow pace, definitely not with such detailed reports, I wouldn't be able to play much either (because it'd take much time writing the reports).
So I looked for a story where I could go a bit faster (in PCM time, not realtime), do smaller reports and even not-report on some stages and where I could take days off if I could. So the story I started now looked perfect for that (now it's one rider, no sprinter, so I can just sim/not-report all flat stages) |

Really? Where was i for the last two seasons then?
Damn you Tsmoah, you and your wonderful dark dog story made me forget to continue reading about the adventures of David Veilleux!!!
EDIT: @Ian: Those are some good reasons, i admit!

Pssh when I write stories I keep them going... (The collab BMC one doesn't count because that was just a lack of effort on all our parts.) My EA-Sony Ericsson story (started in 2010) is still going (although on a break because of Peter Sagan QFH) and I would say my Andy Schleck story was an epic.
So if anybody is looking for a some great stories to read... *Hint Hint*
