Wow, this is the Aker show Super happy to see Groenewegen add another one. Very impressed by his ability to navigate that finish all on his own. Maybe some kind of preferential treatment due to the yellow jersey? I have no clue, but it looked good, we definitely take that kind of good luck
Thank you for the report, roturn. You definitely need to do more PT races, suddenly we're winning left, right and center
Very curious to see how the next stage plays out. If it is taken as a GC day, I hope Novak can join the fun and maybe make use of his good acceleration if it comes down to a selective group sprint. Though, strongly suspect it to be a breakaway. Fingers crossed we are allowed by the AI to join it with no big GC guy present, but I kind of doubt it as we sit with the yellow jersey. If we're allowed, fingers crossed Halland Johannessen can join the breakaway and present himself after having finished development. |

Wtf... One of the weirdest stages I've seen. Congrats to ember, once again.
And Steimle, how on earth is he so consistent, 3rd 2nd place in a row. Guess I'll have to give up on understanding how stats are intended to work, and have to accept it's just fully random when it comes down to sprinters.
We didnt' really ride this finale like we should when having one of the main stage favourites, but at least the team chasing before helped having everyone ahead of that split.

What are those splits... Our GC scoring hopes all but over really.
Ridiculous AI with all the stage wins!

Quite the opposite from Tinkoff's point of view; the whole team on the wrong side of the split . Still thanks for doing the reports of course

Aker wow. What a great race for ember! Congrats!
Thought this could have been a good opportunity for Sureda but this ending was very surprising.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Good to see Van Poppel mixing it up in a stage like this, but still didn't manage to get an impactful result. Only one stage left now to at least get a stage podium!
I am not sure what Tolhoek was trying to do there but he should save energy for some proper breakaways.

No idea what's going on with Aker (or Steimle) but congrats to those doing well!
We missed the splits so nothing to really discuss there. Hopefully Walls can have a bit of a comeback sprint tomorrow since he lost out the points standings to everyone who made that front group today.

And the show goes on
As roturn writes, that was a very surprising way to win it. Definitely likes how Novak showed aggression and tried his luck, a good sign for what is to come, I hope. But then to have Räim step up like that and claim the win, very well helped by Groenewegen being at his limit and not able to follow, with the others watching Groenewegen… What a win that was!
Thank you for all your messages, it is super cool to see the team and basically all riders get it right in every critical decision for the stage wins so far. And with a sprint stage next, do we dare dream of a 5th in a row!? |

Could be a long year watching Manninen fail in new ways.

Congrats, ember! Five victories in a row, and even a double with T-A as well this morning. Hats off!
PS! But it's enough now

Time for some 'real' racing now!
Hopefully Pogacar is up to the task.

Thank you for the report again, roturn. This race is unreal
This time around, a super strong Groenewegen launching just more than 700 meters from the line and holding on all the way. Maybe a tailwind to help him? Very impressed by that sprint by him.
Also interesting to see us not even try to do a train. Had a good feeling when Groenewegen immediately was locked in Manninen's wheel, but then I got worried seeing his early launch. Turned out to be perfect. Guess one should never doubt Groenewegen, not even after his Qatar experiment
It has been a sensational race for us, can't really describe it. Now we really, really need to not go on holiday just yet, as I hope Novak can turn up for the big mountain stage and prove how good he has the potential to be this season, as that is also an unknown. GC wise it will be difficult due to the final TTT, but a good stage placing, fighting somewhere near the top, will be promising. |
