Tour of California Discussion

Good Job by Mohoric. Avoided the clean Silvio sweep. A petty to miss out on the GC though at this point Smile now he just needs to climb well.

Surprisingly strong result there from Zingle to finish 6th! Makes it slightly disappointing that he lost a lot of time on stage 2 but could mean he'll be feeling good for a late attack or breakaway attempt.

Shikai needs big time on the Queen stage to move up into the Top 10! Shirota a good day in the break though, kind of wish he went for the KOM jersey a bit more though.

Nice work by the team and great finish by Ginanni. Very welcome points.

Also pretty cool to be leading the team classification in both the Giro and Tour of California simultaneously.

Well we have sent a strong team here, but I cant help but feel let down after what has happened. Meintjes has a storming TT but naturally has to lose 1;30 on a pointless sprint stage... We should be sitting in the top 10 right now but instead it seems we will struggle in this race, hope something special happens or else this is going to be a massive waste of time Sad

After a good two first stages, the last two has been rather woeful. Martin really struggling to get anything out of this race. Just hoping that we can have a good performance in the mountain stage and that it turns out selective.

Thanks for the report, Tamijo!

well this is good stuff - not great, but very good to see gaps like these...next year we wanna beat the likes of Gastauer and Ginanni with Mohoric though Pfft

I have started to accept relegation already. Losing far too many points on stages, that normally should favour my riders but instead bad decisions.

Herklotz for sale.

Or, let's just take two minutes out of Kwiatkowski, three minutes out of Mohoric, four minutes out of Gastauer and five minutes out of Ginanni on a medium mountain stage. No big deal.
I love how the universe immediately has to punish me for the fun Giro.

That 8 or so minutes lost for no reason on stage 2 by Zingle really hurts now because he's riding like a man possessed in the hills here. 5th on that stage finishing with and above riders who are much better than him is a great effort.

I'm really sorry for that unnecesary time Koretzky lost. Otherwise he would have had a shot at 10-15th GC, but we get a few points. Van der Hugenhaben hugely underperforms as usual to throw all chances of top 20.

Kastrantas did what I asked of him to attack for KOM points, but why won't he play it smart? He had every chance in the World to close the battle and Secure the jersey. Instead he fucks around almost losing the Jersey during the stage itself.

Oh well. A stage in the Jersey is better than nothing, and he might stay in top 5 of the competition in the overall. No matter what we don't come entirely empty-handed from the race.

I still see Herklotz as the race favorite. Kwiatkowski might be difficult due to the TT, but the others are worse in both mountains and TT, so should be easily beaten I'd say.

Damn, we were all over that stage. Grin Stellar job by Zordan setting up Ginanni in a good position and once again great finish by the veteran.

Ginanni is a mediocre climber and a terrible time-trialist so I fully expect him to drop considerably in GC during the last two stages. But that's no problem, because with two stage wins and three days in yellow this tour is already a success for him.

Kangert on the other hand is a decent climber and good time-trialist. Depending on the size of the gaps in the mountain stage he might be able to defend his good GC spot.

Curious to see how this will develop. Thanks for the reports.

Pretty much game over for us. Expected big margins, around 3-4 min, but this is much wider than that. A good showing in the mountain and TT stages is needed just to limit our losses here.

Herklotz is still able of a podium place imo. I wouldn't be selling him just yet.

@roturn: I feel you mate. Giro and Qatar have been unfairly disastrous for you. Hope you find some good karma down the season to offset that. Like Boom wining the TdF or something Pfft That would be cool.

Pretty happy with that!

Obviously expected to lose some time to the stronger puncheurs, it's a big gap to Ginanni though so I'm worried he'll hold out, so for Kwiat to win it needs to be somewhere it the midway point between the mountains being so easy the punchuers stay in touch and Herklotz blitzing it. Not optimistic about winning, but thinking of a podium, it's looking good. Smile

Thanks for the reports Tamijo and gratz again DD, great race!

Was hoping Slagter would be slighty more active in the hilly stages, letting me down here a bit. 5+ minutes behind is not great exactly.

Cool attempt by Lighart here, maybe he could won if he played it smarter he looked really strong here!

Once I saw Vink trying to go in the break, but not succeeding, I knew that the break was going to win Pfft Oh well.

Congrats to jt on a surprise win Smile

And you guys said the MG didn't have realistic race winners! Pfft

Best result of the season, gratz jt on having the best rider in the game. Cool <3
