Of course not, but now Stallaert is looking scarily good, following Bewley's attacks. My bet is that he cracks in any moment, but maybe Bewley is risking a lot by attacking in this point. It's like go all-in before the sprint when he's the better sprinter by far

knockout, Roman, I see you both online. Too nervous to join in the conversation?
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Incredible
GvA can't lose this now, it would be heart-breaking if he does

The big if now is if Bewley just used up all his red bar, or he cracked because no yellow. If it was just the first one, sucking Stallaert's wheel for a while, GvA better go really fast

Well, this glorious and fantastic report surely deserved another winner than a boring win of the biggest favourte. What a report really, big thanks jandal, even though I only catched up when it was quite clear GVA is going to take the win. Also really nice to see this version of Ronde on a better PC than I have, really pleased to see all those nice pictures, you can really recongnize some of those places even in PCM. Already looking forward to Roubaix, as the new version for MG is also graphically absolutely stunning.
Big congrats to knockout, looks like GVA had a top day, while Bewley probably the opposite, but I don't understand the tactics of Bewley. All he had to do was to wait for the final sprint... Can't really be happy, but 3rd place is surely way better than a total disaster, but it is still another goal missed - does it matter if I miss the goal totally or I am close? Stallaert already looks like a future favourite for years coming. Really looking forward to see where Boroš is going to finish, could be a fantastic result for him.

Amazing report Jandal! When I think reports here couldn't get better you pull of this one
It was indeed a great race to follow, and the suspense was enormous, who would've thought Bewley would've lost this one, and GVA despite his decline would finally take Flandres, congratz knockout!

Great report! A better result than last and with a puncture, so at least a better performance from Wisniowski. Congrats knockout!

I had the feeling this wouldnt end in a dominant Bewley victory since you decided to make it a live report because that was too boring for the debut/comeback of such a format.
I believe that Greg was the strongest rider in the peloton today. Quite notable how Bewley was scared to ride with him and i think that was ultimately the downfall for lil Sammie and honestly he deserves getting outsprinted by Stallaert for that
Winning this is obviously a huge milestone for Evonik and only a victory in the velodrome would be equally satisfying for me.
Another thing i loved to see is how well my team did depthwise. De Vreese was aleeady rightfully praised a lot in the report but having a min wage FA pickup finishing 13th in a hard race like this cant be praised enough. Nooytens as 19th is also a fantastic result just like Stoltz as 33rd who is a gift that keeps on giving back.
Thanks guys!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Congrats knockout. Amazing from GVA. Also amazing report!
My riders keep asking me why they cant build some proper roads in Belgium. Throwing stones at the ground is not building a road...
Anyway, 2 guys finishing is great! And one of them top 80!

Thanks for the awesome report, was following it but couldn't comment yet. Unfortunately we lost Vanbilsen early on, but if it has to happen in some race, it's best in a race where there are no points to be earned.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

While I really appreciate the effort the format didn't work out for me. After a couple of posts, I lost track of things - and interest, and scrolled to the result... And was pleasantly surprised to see Maxime Daniel getting 8th. Yet there was too much text for me to scroll back to see whether or not I could grasp what happened.
So for me it doesn't work, but like I said I really appreciate the effort put into this. It must have been a huge amount of work, and if the general public enjoys it, I'm not to tell that it shouldn't be used in the future, but it becomes too heavy for my likings - And the "livestream" idea only works if you are in fact online for the feature. Maybe it would work to have a "livestream", and then cut the text into smaller pieces for a final review to also speak to people like me.
Sorry for sounding sour, it is only meant as my input for the future reporting. But then again, I don't like video reports either, so I'm probably just old and grumpy.

Well, I'm happy with our performance in our first ever monument! We showed ourselves and road aggressively. Considering there's no points at stake, I love that!
My team actually came to play, and I love that. The duo of Vanspeybrouck and Nolf actually both decided to try. They didn''t work together, but 6th and 11th is a good result at least for both of them. hopefully they'll continue to try that sort of thing in their last few races this season.
Can we give a shout out to Marc de Maar? The legend has declined twice, but he shows himself to be an absolute madman and grabs 17th place on the day. Might that be his best result in a monument ever at the age of 34? Loved it. Considering it's his final season, he really deserved that. Glad he got mentioned in the report too.
Sinkeldam was a bit disappointing, as this is the race that suits him the best, but he was still somewhat around I suppose and De Maar made up for it. Juul-Jensen with a every good ride in 29th! Certainly had much lower cobble than anyone around him, so it lends credence to the idea that a puncheur type like him could potentially succeed in these types of races. Obviously it's never worth the opportunity cost to try it out when race days are at stake, but it's a fun experiment in a wildcard!
Amazing report Jandal! Awesome job. Love following and the detail was incredible.

Glorious race and report! Edge of my seat the whole time. Love how GVA just kept hammering Bewley until he finally cracked and showed us that he actually is human after all.
Besides that it was thrilling to see Teunissen hang on to the elite riders so long. Kept expecting him to crack any moment, but Mike was in absolute top form. He has really delivered in his first big race for us.

Wow, what an amazing report! Thank you a lot for such special treatment of the De Ronde, jandal7
Brilliant racing too, and also with some great graphics. Really enjoyed reading the report in a whole now (had no chance to follow it live earlier today), and watching some of the iconic buildings and monuments along the road together with your great writing, really made it a unique report, I think.
And wow, congratulations, knockout Bewley beaten... It just seems odd And what a ride that was from GVA, putting it all on the line. Absolutely brilliant!
For my team, Trentin's performance is a worry, and a rather big one too. Lagab on the other hand with a superb performance, punching well above his weight, but I must admit I struggle to fully enjoy that when Trentin does this poorly. This was supposed to be the one race during the whole season where our leader should be the closest to the very best in the game. |
