Skybots was flying today.
Froome was empty and few times dropped yesterday. Today he was stunning...
also Kwiatek and Thomas.
This is weirdest tour that I have seen.
Everything has gone different direction from that I have predicted and expected.
yeah lot's of crazy stuff happened.
I thought this was the chance for the pure climbers as aside from the cobbles there were plenty mountain stages and even the TT was really hard. and not too long.
Then I thought it was also THE chance to beat Froome (which proven to be true in the end), but I didn't think that would be Thomas (and Dumoulin). I thought Porte, Bardet, Quintana or Uran would profit.
Thomas I thought no higher than top 5. And Dumoulin I hoped for top 5, but didn't think was possible after Giro.
The biggest surprises for me was Thomas being so strong, but also Dumoulin being stronger than in the Giro and having 0 weak days.
And another big surprise was Movistar being so bad.
Roglic was for me a smaller surprise, I think after the names i named above I expected him to be close but didnt know how he was in 3 weeks. Turns out he is good in that as well.
LottoNL also way stronger than I expected. |

What about Nibali? I was expecting a great results from him, and maybe he could have been on podium tomorrow imo
Ok Porte and Bardet, but Quintana nah, I was for Landa at best (in fact I put him on top5 in GHWC despite Quintana was probably main leader) and Uran looked like an surprising exploit last year podium

Bright spots for me!
Craddock finishes as Lantern Rouge. Crashed on the first day and could have quit. Yet when so many guy crashed out or missed the time cut along the way, he just kept plugging along. Awesome fight.
Also, Dan Martin gets super combative. He certainly attacked enough, even with his bad luck and maybe not the best legs at times keeping him from the GC fight.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

My hope was Porte. Like almost last possibility. . Nibali ..who always delivers.
I thought that Giro guys wont survive.
Will be easy one for Movistar (Quinatna, Landa, Valverde, Soler, Amador...dream team) to control this time (no where near). Roglic was not that much surprise, but Lotto Jumbo generally was so good (also nice at Giro) they have starting to took over Scott team title as best combined team.
Expected Bardet to be much stronger (he was building for tour like usually Tour riders do). Another Yates last just week.
Subjective good side..Kangert was good as usual.
Main thing was Fuglsang, Bardet, Movistar was wondering that what a fuck is going one. They was ready.
But tempo on climbing days was so much faster and almost all day always. Sky had some extra horse power this year. Also sign for that are sprinter ..who did crack with hordes.
And for climbers it made impossible to attack, after coocking them all day with that speed.
Bernal..damn hat a guy. Columbian , will be done at age 27. But now amazing. He would have taken that white jersey easily.
Suffering..Craddock, Sagan (stage 19), Nibali (riding that fast after that broken bone), Latour (painful to watch every mountain stage), etc. etc.
Weird year that was. |

yeah forgot to mention nibali, ofcourse. He did look really good on Alpe D'Huez
But I also did not forget he did not look good on Rosiere. And ultimately, I think the fact that the queen mountain stage was only 65km would work against a diesel as Nibali. |

He said for Slovenian TV that the problem was in TT material, they have TT bike and other equipment almost the same as five years ago and some other teams have huge advantage in this area. Yesterday were in top5 just SKY and Sunweb riders.
I also remember that at WC he was way behind the best until the last climb when he changed TT bike to normal and managed to move up to second place. |

I only partially agree with that. When Bianchi introduced this TT bike they had a disaster TT with Mollema dropping from 3 to 10 or something. But then Lotto and Bianchi did a lot of wind tunnel testing and improvement and all their riders did really good tt's, look at Van Emden winning the final Giro TT last year and many other examples of their entire team doing well.
But now the material is getting surpassed and even though it is still a good bike, it's not as good as Giant or Pinarello.. |

Agree, Bianchi can not make top TT bikes. It was a lot worse 5-6 years ago. |

Roglič doesn`t care much about podium, he is satisfied with the result. He came to this Tour to learn, to gain experience for next years. LottoNL Jumbo made the plan to build the team around him to go for TDF victory in 2020 but Richard Plugge already said that maybe they can do it a year earlier. |

4th for Roglic is no loss, first time he's racing a GT with overall ambitions and he dealt with it perfectly, with some extremely draining stages.. I believe yesterday he felt that third week fatigue, I was expecting it to happen every mountain stage but it didn't, but it was clear that yesterday he didn't appear like his normal self (even though he said he had his normal power output)
