Rock solid start from Reis and the gang. 3rd in the prologue and 5th in the first hilly stage is a great omen for things to come. Still all up for grabs, but it's always better to stay on top of things.
Rothaus' decision to go for Frison was very courteous but I'm afraid they would be better served to go for their actual leader.
Congrats to Bpost and Kruiswijk for the win. Very well timed and very well delivered. Kudos!

Nice to see Philbear and Roux upfront, maybe some good results are within bound. Don't expect a Top 10 overall tho. Modolo to the stage win next please!

It's a shame Palini dropped out but no GC aspirations so not terrible, just have to hope he steps it up next time.
Thanks for the report Roturn!

Thought this would be one of the stages that suited Meyer the best, so was kind of surprised to not see him listed as one of the favourites by PCM.
Did ok in the end, just seems like his position wasn't good enough as they entered the last kilometer. Thanks for the report, roturn

OMG!!! There are very real points... points without Summerhill! Beltran in the GC, Pulido with KoM! The way I counted it that is 22 points! (That is basically 1/10th of our non-summerhill total for the season all in one day).

Zardini obviously not in his best shape, but not losing time is a good thing. Wasn't a stage to win the GC, though one you can lose it.
Fingers crossed for Aregger scoring our first points tomorrow.

At least a PCT win, an unexpected though. I'd have loved to see Modolo winning this though

Nearly forgot we're in this race, but I'm glad to see we did well so far!
Looking at how the other PT teams are doing, that's necessary though.
Herklotz did much better than some other 73 hill riders in stage 2 and could have a shot at a Top 5 here now thanks to a weak startlist. Exactly what I selected this band for and why he's already a useful rider. Too bad the strongest rider here is U25 too.
And as soon as we join breakaways, it already pays off! On a better day, Declerq could've won this, but I'm definitely not complaining about just saving second place there.

Very nice to see Vangstad try his luck in a breakaway
Admittedly not strong enough to really compete for the win, but that will come in a couple of years, hopefully. Important win for Lierse, could prove vital in their fight to avoid relegation. Congratulations, Ollfardh!
Also thank you for the consistent reporting, roturn. |

Nice and quiet transition stage, just as I like it! The next couple of days should be decisive.
Congrats on the win Ollfardh!

On second thought, this could be a long race given PCM has somehow decided Morkov is our sprint leader
Congrats Ollfardh and thanks Roturn

In the break, but just not strong enough. That's a pity...

Tomorrow we'll join the break, too!

Ulanowski as expected not good enough on these harder sprints.

Simple sprint stage, uneventful for us. Beltran still getting us a couple points at 3rd and Pulido up top in the KoM. Any day with points here is a massive win.

Thank you for the report, roturn. Really enjoyed it with all the text giving us a lot of details.
And Puma - SAP will win the Pro Tour standings if they continue at this rate here in Portugal
Looked great for us a couple of kilometers into the final climb where all our four potential GC guys looked strong, but unfortunately three of them quickly faded, and the numerical advantage didn't really show. Result wise it was good for us that Nesset was the strongest considering what's to come.
Though, it looked a lot more like a mountain stage reading the results than a hilly stage, which I think is wrong if it's due to the ratio favouring climbers more than puncheurs, considering it was rated as a hilly stage. Hopefully though that wasn't the case, and it was more a result of fatigue, REC stat and the stage being part of a long tour. |
