Great report.
Sad to see Ulissi falling, but doubt he would have had his chance anyways. Mostly gutted Ponzi had not much help with also Ricco being hurt.
That said! EBH does a Gilbert in order to save a really bad season. Good to see ember can cheer some as well. Sadly enough for him, Olympics don't count towards the rankings Congratulations!

A belgian and a nordic guy fighting for the win? Seems legit
This was a proper race worthy of the Olympic games. Congrats to all the norwegian supporters out there. The report was outstanding, poised with all those passionate inflexions.
Portugal was decent with those frantic attacks in the start of the race and 2 guys in the top30. We couldn't ask for much more than that.

Brilliant to see Boasson Hagen win! I know no points come with it, but just a big relief to see he's still able to do such a thing in a one day race. Especially encouraging to see the way it went, being aggressive and the first favourite to attack, and even allowing a team mate up front before that. Then luck obviously played a part in the sprint, being in the right position when it started so he avoided leading out. Just great to see everything go his way!
Thank you for the report, TheManxMissile! Very informative and well done keeping track of all the crashes and who went down where. Feel sorry for those who got their hopes destroyed in one of the crashes, but it's always a bit of a lottery in such conditions. |

Fantastic report TMM, big thanks!
Quite happy with Sagan's result, 8th is about maximum what I could expected here. So many crashes though! Not really the best race for my other Slovakians...
Oh and big congrats, ember! What a way to come back to winning days for EBH!

Great report, thanks. Nice to see Dombrowski getting a mention and a 7th place for Lutsenko is pretty good. Congrats to ember for the big win.

De Bie 11th is better than most his PT classic performances this year. So can`t complain.
Olivier in a pretty srong Netherlands squad with a solid race as well around 30th despite not having a top top performance by any of these.
Thanks for the report TMM and congrats to ember for the winner. |

@SotD - Hard to say if Coppel would have been more help, Lecuisinier got some bad luck on positioning and crashes.
@Matt - Italy got f*cked in the crashes. Half the team injured in one fall was a killer. Ponzi did well, but the race would have been different if the Italians were strong.
@Gustav - Glad you enjoyed the report. It was a great race to play, and that writing is my exact emotion as it played out towards a brilliant finish. The AI really helped me out
@Ember - EBH played it perfectly, shame he doesn't do it more often. Crashes played a role of course, but the racing around them was just as good.
@Roman - Sagan was impressive as was Slovakia as a whole, they just couldn't deliver a matching result for their efforts.
@Wacko - Well, Dombro did get mentioned
@Roturn - The Dutch really dissapointed. Missed all the moves and were generally invisible all day long.

Dekker 38th and Shushemoin with about 38 attacks to try to get into the breakaway. What a fantastic race to watch! So much drama, so much tensity. Thank you TMM for covering this awesome race. It was certainly one to remember!
Congrats to Edvald and ember for the fantastic achievement and the olympic jersey as well! |

Good race that. A shame about all the crashes, but I guess it was realistic thinking about the race in real life.
Meyer one of those falling, but as said before the race, we were cheering for Boasson Hagen here. Great win from him!

What a race, what a finish. No podium for TVG but that was a hell of effort in the closing meters. Proud manager here.
Shame the rain played a role, but it also made for an exciting, unpredictable race as well.

Cool report and race, fail on Russia/Trofimov behalf, Kritskiy involved in the big crash did hurt Trofimov's support a lot I suppose.

Incredible race! Good job TMM.
Very happy to see EBH take this great and deserved win after all the trouble he's been through.

The Time Trial is coming. I set the bar a bit high for myself with the RR report and have spent too long trying to get TT report spot on as well.
Will do my upmost to get it posted today, maybe slip to tomorrow. But it is coming.

Another very nice report. Thank you, TheManxMissile!
Judging by the results, clearly a TT that favoured the time trial beasts with a decent mountain/hill stat as well. And no doubts about the winner, and Phinney could have won it on any course. Congratulations, jt1109!
Happy with Stake Laengen's performance, just outside the top 20 feels very good from him, seeing his stats. |

Thanks for the reports!
Phinney really keeps adding wins on wins to his impressive palmares of this season and it's not even done with the World Championships that could mean yet another gold. Congrats jt!

Phynney the dream crusher. Don't worry alex Gesink will win it in 4 years, I'm positive That would have been pretty nice tbh, but Phinney is Phinney and there's no getting around that, so congrats jt.
Thanks for another massive report TMM!

Great report TMM!
A bit sad to see our ex-riders Coppel, Uran, Sergent and Ghyselinck to not achieve any great results here. Phinney is an extraordinary beast though. Totally Bewley-esque results in time trials. Congrats jt!
