5th is at least something. Finally a sprint sign by him.
But as soon as I saw that my team made the only train and it was a 2 rider train with only Olivier leading out....I knew this wouldn`t be good.
Why you do this to me. Still the Vantomme 2012 aura it seems. |

That split! Many strong riders caught behind it and also most of our team. Luckily Kangert and Koren did pay attention and survived.
Nice KoM grab by Zordan, hope he will now try to bring that jersey home.

Efimkin and Topchanyuk losing time? No problem! Nepomnyachsniy finishing 15th is great, shows he's strong. 5 Guys in te top 25 isn't bad eiter
Moving up to 4th in the GC due to that split is great, but I'd prefer to do so in another way, distancing those guys on pure strength.

Awesome Boily makes the split that's all we can hope for and some time gained on potential rivals hopefully that's a good sign for the coming stages |

I guess it makes it easier for Kwiatek/Kenya without the yellow jersey on the next stage.
Not much to say about Evonik's performance. LLS stayed ahead of the split which is everything we needed from this stage.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Nice seeing Reimer getting a podium, will he take a win on the next stage?
Reimer being the only one from Swedbank finish with the first group must meen that we will try to get in break on stage 5!!! |

No time lost for Anton, rolling strong
If there's anyone to lose time, then it's definetely Landa. I'm horified to think that he is actually going to lead some races this season.
Plz Anton, find some of your early Giro form now ^^

Zoidl as my only useful rider to make the split, and again he made a strong Prologue, Chavanne again weaker in the prologue than I'd hoped, hopefully he will improve in them the next couple of years as he gains more experience.
It's a shame Zardini got caught behind that split, I guess that ruins any chance we had of getting a decent result out of this but with most of the team being caught there hopefully it will free them up to have an attacking race and finally get in some breaks, which is something we've been lacking a lot of considering the strength of the riders we've sent to most races.

Good positioning by Fonseca... before he failed.
At least my GC guys made it on the right side of the split.

Geez, at least Talansky didn't get caught behind, but all my other nominally 'stronger' riders did. Shame both Beltran and Chaves inexperience caught them out, but I guess these young guys don't learn by listening, the learn by doing (and ballsing up!). Obvious who our leader is now though! Avila escapes censure - with no team-mates to assist he spent too much energy getting into position, but at least he made the effort to do so.
Thanks as always for the reporting. Good coverage of the sprint here, well captured and the images enabled you to follow the complete piece unfolding .

Wow, that was a pleasant surprise. Since I came here with a squad made for stage hunting in a race that really didn't suit me, I must say that the race has already been a success.
I can't even be bothered by the fact that everyone bar Docker failed to make the split, so happy now, very surprised that Docker took our first win of the season.
Thanks for all your brilliant work, tsmoha.

Good result from Docker again. A pity that he couldn't take third and some bonus seconds, but very happy with 1 and 4 from these two sprints. Now hoping for some breakaway luck.
Congrats, Viking!

Nepomnyachsniy still up there in 5th of the GC, if he can hold that I'd be very happy and he's shown in Ukraine he actually can. The mountain stage doesn't look too difficult either, so I hove good hopes for a great GC now.
Polivoda isn't the best sprinter here, but at least he tried

Now we need some luck to get anything out from those last stages. |

Finally Groenewegen with some signs in this race. 5th and 3rd. Not too bad.
Aru/Olivier making it in first groups on every stage and Villella/Thurau got some time for breakaways.
Now the harder days. |

Why can't this game allow Dall'Antonia to sprint? |

Valls hasn't lost big time yet so we are still in for a good GC here.
Joining the breakaway would be nice.

Poor ONCE, that's a really unlucky way to lose your GC hopes.
Nice sprint by Reimer, congrats.
