Wether looks wet, with heavy rain (and thunder?) at the end, winds North-West about 20-25km/hour but gusts up to 40-50km/hour. So echelons could definitely happen. https://www.letour...ather.html

It's not the stages in the first week that I dislike - in fact the first week is about the only positive in this route. We actually have varied terrain and considering it's all in the north so there's no possibility of mountains pretty much everything that could be used has been - so we have a short ITT, possible echelon stage, classics-style hilly stage, cobbles, flat sprint, the Le Havre finish is quite interesting in isolation, and a punchy uphill finish. That's all fine, but then you have to look at that first week as a whole and realise it has the most crash-potential out of any first week I've ever seen. At least they started with an ITT not a flat stage otherwise it would be absolute carnage. Then after designing a crashfest first week they decide that this it is a good decision to stick a TTT in the race later than even the rules allow? Ludicrous. Riders will be punished through the misfortune of their teammates and the whim of the race designers. Well played ASO.

Looks like a big split right after kilometer one, quite an interesting start! |

Weatherman on Danish TV2 just said that rain is almost inevitable. The last part of the race will be scary...

Miserable conditions at the finish. Echelons looking more likely now.

103km to go..
if Giro Saxo survived..had a team first week..this time they are trying to beat that record..team who is empty after 4 days.
I remember same Tinkov tactics at other Tinkoff years..always in atack at the front..with several riders.
Way to early |
