Finally I can be subjective for once
First off all congrats with the win Avin! While I must say I was (not a little), but very annoyed to see Pluchkin win this. It still became an okay race and Pluchkin did deserve the win in the end. That stage 1 split though completely made the race open for him to be clear.
The most frustrating thing was to see Stepniak on those sprint stage, the first ones he didn't appear and perhaps that is to be expected. But in the 2nd half he got up and even joined the leadout trains. Only to see him drop back and do absolutely nothing! So yeah those 8 points for SotD could have been more for Stepniak.
The most fun rider to watch is hard to pick, but Alarcon and Kruijswijk did manage to make the race interesting. Alarcon attacked even after he didn't gain any time and while this might have been wasted, it was good for the race. Sadly I have to say the game fcked up even more, on Stage 12 Alarcon should have been the race leader. As the gap between him and Pluchkin were long, but something with the time difference on the stage, made the game give them the same time.
Finally I was after around 5-6 times seeing Dall'Oste in breaks every day, it kinda killed my motivation a bit. As I could see that there were some teams doing absolutely nothing in this race. Oh well, where there are winners some lose, so I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.

What a fitting way to end the race. With us doing absolutely nothing despite having all the opportunities to win a stage and climb a spot or two in the GC.
Congrats to Avin for the win, and for Smowz for a great 2nd place. Can't really congratulate DD for losing out on the 2nd place that he needed quite badly to get a good overall PT result. Not a lot of points coming from this race despite actually having an 85 climber.
Horrible race for us, even if we had a pretty horrible team. I suspect this will be the worst ever result for us - We will get something like 110-120 points in grand total. Never before have we been that poor - And with Georgos Tzortzakis here with 2 decent lead out sprinters that is really not good enough. Those lost 150-250 points will come back to haunt us I'm sure.

You got 141 points total (3rd worst scoring team overall), in case you do make a HQ post about it

First of all, thanks to danny for the steady and quality reporting!
Followed closely most of the time as my three Pro Tour loanees decided (or were allowed) to get involved in the racing action... at least all of them have their Giro 2016 story to tell.

And that concludes one of my best GT to date.
Henao fifth, Brambilla eleventh (2 riders in the top 10 would have been awesome though), 2 stage wins plus a few other podiums and the team rankings.
Congrats, Avin.
Thanks for the reports, danny.

Dall'Oste deserves a statue. He attacked about half the stages I think? Even when the mountain jersey is secure, he wants more.
Congrats to the winner, even though I don't like Pluchkin.
And thanks for the reports Danny! Sorry about Dall'Oste killing your motivation.
Good result for the wildcard team, I hope RCS Sport noticed it and gives us another invitation next year
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thank you for completing the Giro with such consistency, sgdanny. And huge congratulations to Avin. It says a lot about Pluchkin that he wins a Grand Tour without really being that great in the mountains compared to his opponents, at least in this race. Claiming the points jersey and a nice GC placing by Karnulin as well, should see them climb the rankings quite a lot.
Also quite a race for Evonik and knockout, maybe giving them the PT rankings lead? Must be slightly frustrating to see Van Stayen miss out on the final stage and the points jersey, but still an amazing Giro for them, dominating the flattish stages. And as mentioned earlier in this thread, it was a very good Giro for several other teams as well. Congratulations to all of you!
Cool to see Stake Laengen in the breakaway, and coming away from it with 4th place, behind three riders that joined later and probably had more energy left, is very good. A nice end to the Giro for us
With the team we had here, I did expect us to fight for the teams classification, and after Dyrnes' first breakaway in the mountains, we were definitely in the mix. Satisfied with second place as well, eventhough we came close with Stake Laengen's breakaway on the final stage. It will also give us some nice "bonus" points thinking of the rankings. |

First of all, it's time to congratulate Avin on the inofficial GT grand slam and to thank danny for the ever-consistent and quality reports!
The final stage being such a borefest was good for two reasons, Nerz' safe GC spot and not feeling bad about Demare DNFing as there wouldn't have been much to gain in the stages after his crash.
On the other hand, lots of our rival teams for the positions around 10th have had luck with breakaways throughout the three weeks, including on this stage, which somewhat negates the points we got in the sprints and the GC in the end.
I would love to see the points table just for this GT, although I don't know if that's possible or if that will be covered in a full rankings update later anyway.
Nevertheless, I am certainly happy with our first GT back after our PCT stint, everyone did a good job except for Felline who crashed out early and Bongiorno, who sadly didn't get any AI love to be part of what certainly wasn't a random selection of aggressive riders.
If he had been chosen as the alternative Olivier or even Dall'Oste, things would've looked even brighter.
He only tried once, and that not exactly successful either. Certainly a waste of race days.
On that note, congratulations to Lierse who really deserved the wildcard.
What will stay from this race for us will be Demare's first GT stage win and our first achieved goal of the season, and the realisation that we need to practice bike handling...

First off, big thanks to danny, excellent reports and at a nice consistent rate, good job man. Congrats to avin too, not the most exciting of victories but the rankings won't care.
A really good GT by our standards, our highest ever GC position thanks to Nibbles who was fairly anonymous for most of it but just kept plugging away and TTed well. Our results fell off a bit of a cliff after him so it may not have been a stellar points haul but pretty good nonetheless.

12th is good enough for Kwiatkowski I guess with his interview.
We fail our stage win goal though at the GT's. Congrats Avin on the win.
Thanks for the reports! |

Congrats Avin!
Not really happy with the race, König was really poor, absolutely nothing from Vakoc and so at least Howard somehow saved the race for me.

Finally had time to catch up with the reports and come to see the race has finished. Nice work sgdanny. (Been really busy with my irl job )
For the first two weeks this looked like a train wreck for us, but hats off to Lawerence for not giving up. I was ecstatic with one stage win, but why not take the final stage as well and move up to 16th in GC. Well done sir, but this doesn't mean you get a raise in the offseason...
Glad to salvage some points in a race without Abal or TVG.
The GC fight was a bit meh, but congrats to Avin, you have a beast on your hands. Don't get too drunk.

Delighted to take podium, beating Madrazo was excellent (though in part due to early crash) and to take 3 stage wins is awesome.
Wonderful pace of reporting sgdanny thank you very much.

Finally found some time to react after all these celebrations.
Obviously biggest day in the history of Team Metinvest-Dacia, winning three consecutive GTs is something we could only dream about few years ago, when we had started the cycling passion project in D2 division. We have rewrote the history of the game and hopefully will be remembered as one of the most interesting and successful projects during our time with you guys.
I know Pluchkin is not the most popular rider around, not sure why, but i guess people like outsiders more and he is as cocky as his manager too.
Still i hope people can acknowledge what we have achieved together, so far he has won every GT he entered in our colours + ITT WC title. If that could not earn him the favour of fans or yearly prizes, it should at least earn him the respect and confirm the nickname of "Aleksandr the Great".
This Giro was for spectators the least impressive of his GT wins and it had nice amount of luck too (Madrazo problems in stage1 + that gap in stage 12 sgdanny mentioned). But true champion needs luck at some point and i think that Aleksandr was fully in control of the race, dont forget the he lost key domestique Sosnitskiy in the crash too. Point jersey that he has stolen from Van Beasten shows that he may be called wheelsucker this Giro, but he was right there in majority of stages!
Congrats to Smowzy and DD, our closest competitors in GC battle. Alarcon is the man of the Giro for many, he surely even punched above his weight in some stages and deservely has won three stages. Madrazo was unlucky, but apart from that, he was solid and gained yet another GT podium. He simply live in tough world of Schleck, Spilak and Pluchkin, so getting GT wins will be extremely tough for him without all things going his way.
Congrats also to other successful teams like Evonik, BPost, eBuddy or Movistar, . Special mention goes to Lierse and their overdoped madman attacker, i will have to go back to reports and count number of his breakaway appereances,. I guess more than some 7-8 unlucky teams combined?
Last but not least, thanks sgdanny for the fast paced and quality reports, it was a pleasure to check the forum every evening and find the report ready for us! Also thanks for your honest input about the race from reporters perspective. I know i would be even much more frustrated seeing the gameplay at some points of the race. Tha game is bad, that is obvious...
Thanks for all the congrats guys and i have a question of the day: Can he make it four in the row in Spain? I guess we will find out in few weeks, i expect biggest test of our GT strengt yet and last chance to win the GT in our colours.
