Not sure why I brought Duarte here. Seems like this race might well end up a waste of RD

I regret making this a win goal.
We’ll need to blow up he hill stage I guess to have a chance, as Pluckin will kill the mountain.
Thanks for the preview tsmoha, looking forward to the race!

Thanks for the preview tsmoha.
The season now really gets going for us. We also have a busy ferbruary and many more races after this.
I have the on paper best sprinter and second best climber here. This race just has to give us many points. Pluchkin won't be beaten, but maybe Denifl can stay in his slipstream without accelerating much. At least that's my hope this season, generally. |

First stage race of the year for WCC should start to bring our possibilities for the season more into perspective alongside the start of the cobbled season at OHN.
From our perspective, Berhane has had a very solid start to his WCC career with outings at Apex and Pico Basile. A stage race with a mountain stage, hill stage and no TT is well suited to his charactersitics, although there are obviously a few superior riders also in attendance. Ji isn't far behind Berhane in ability, and the stage race format might bring more individual reward than 1-day classics thus far for him as No. 2 to Berhane. As an HC race, the point-scale down to 50th also brings attention on team depth. Hopefully is not too over ambitious for us to look for at least 2 out of 3 of support riders (Koshevoy, Brandt and De Luna) to chip in even with minimum points haul - all stack up over a long season!
From a sprinting perspective, I'd actually expected a slightly stronger field for the first 2 days, so we have Lay in attendance rather than JAC. Cisse as some support for him and also to offer some flat ability if required to dig out one of our GC riders as required. Lay very much in the 2nd-tier of sprint riders in attendance, so our target for the two sprints is to at least see Lay and/or Cisse make an appearance in the sprint preparations on one occasion and see what happens. If present in both sprints, even with no results will be happy to see at least being partially involved rather than complete anonymity. If Lay ends up participating in sprints throughout the season, on a couple of occasions statistically he'll have decent daily form that should at least bring in some nice results. Statistics against him if he fails to sprint at all though!
Plu-bear the stand-out GC rider here, if he was not to finish 1st overall would be a major surprise to me.

Te Brake gets up there for 2nd with 79/76 and Vingerling doesn't Top 30 with 79/79. I love this game... Also my riders tried 5 times to get in the breakaway but didn't get in the one that mattered Hope for better on Stage 2!

Yeah, Peeters never fails to disappoint. I think this is the only race this year where he has leadershio and he gives me a 27th.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Very solid day 1 for WCC. Youngster Dlamini doing great work capitalising well on a good effort to get in the break by fighting hard for intermediate sprint points, then both Lay and Cisse (nice to see the jersey! ) at least somewhat showing up for the sprint finish. Lay gets his first point of the season, and similar for Dlamini. So lots of positives from this first day at ToME, long may that trend continue!
Thanks to TSM for the report and congrats to Fablok on the victory. Been a good start to the season from Fablok on the sprinting front! After Saber's more than solid start on day 1 of the season, Philips gathering more points from sprints thus far than I'd have expected with Te Brake obviously on good form today.

Strange sprint there. Appo had a great leadout and clearly had a good kick had he not kept behind Kvist for so long, but points wise I'll take 4th and 5th in that sprint absolutely any day. Having a lead out train today should at least bare fairly well for tomorrow too, so it's a success even if we probably should have had a podium.

Very solid first day for us, Keough active in the sprint, and Roberge getting some work in the break good for a point from young rider standing I think.

Would have been nice to see a rider at least attempting to get in a breakaway, but it's a minor issue. Kudus safe and with good placing in the sprint stages, which clearly shows he's in form to get great results from tomorrow
Congrats to bbl for the dominant win!
