Domestiques signed!

FA --> Indosat

Evgeny Russo

Evgeny comes to us from the free agency and should prove to be a very handy helper as he can perform over many different terrains. He'll spend the majority of his season riding with a certain team leader and will make his debut for us at the Gisborne Classic.

Jake Keough

FA --> Indosat

Keough comes into the team to add depth to our extremely shallow sprinting department. We don't expect big results from him, however we're hopeful that he can surprise us.

David Claerebout

FA --> Indosat

i724.photobucket.com/albums/ww242/Eden1895/claerebout_zps5hfh2ava.jpg

Claerebout is one of our final riders to join us from the FA. The Luxembourgian is another rider that'll spend the majority of his season glued to the sides of our leaders and probably won't really achieve any results himself. But of course that's not why we signed him!

Nice signings here mate! Good work! A strong team you have to face the PCT this season!

Thanks! Not so sure yet, I think we still lack a bit of depth- hopefully I can sort something out.

Final domestique signings for the new season

Ian Richardson

Richardson is the newest member of our TT squad. His purpose is to assist the team in TTT's throughout the season. It's an area we're not particularly strong in, so his abilities will be very much relied on.

Daniel Navarro

Cretaceous era --> Indosat

i724.photobucket.com/albums/ww242/Eden1895/navarro_zpsiz6ww49l.jpg

Navarro is an accomplished climber who joins our ranks from the FA market after his former team, Bacardi, folded during the offseason. We're hoping he'll be living at altitude, because that's where he'll be spending the majority of his race days this season.

Jude Libert

Signorini Jr. has been brought into the team to provide some much needed mountain depth. We don't expect him to achieve any decent results this season, but hope he proves his worth through assisting our leaders.

Ciaran Cassidy

Cassidy was signed as a breakaway specialist in the hope that he can cause a few surprises throughout the season. If not, it looks like he might go alright as a Downhill MTB rider Wink

Mohamed Shawal Anuar Aziz

FA --> Indosat

Mohamed Shawal Anuar Aziz 475,000 30 Maxed
Flat Mtn Hill TT Sta Res Rec Cob Spr Acc Ftr Dh Prl
72 68 81 62 78 73 71 62 67 71 58 65 66

Anuar Aziz is another rider that comes to our team as a result of the disbandment of the Quickstep PT team. He's a terrific puncheur who will serve as the team's classics leader this season. He's fairly happy with his move to PCT level, where he hopes to be more competitive.
He's a rider that had been on our shortlist a long while before transfers and we're happy to get him for his affordable price tag.

Tommy Zaini

Meiji --> Indosat (800,000)

The Italian puncheur will hopefully prove his worth this season as a super-domestique to Anuar Aziz. He'll also get his own opportunities, but our goal is to maximise points we score in every race. We don't have huuuge expectations for his scoring potential, but are sure that he'll prove us wrong.

Beñat Intxausti

RBC --> Indosat (1.7M)

i724.photobucket.com/albums/ww242/Eden1895/intxausti_zps2s2iqv9d.jpg

Beñat Intxausti 525,000 30 Maxed
Flat Mtn Hill TT Sta Res Rec Cob Spr Acc Ftr Dh Prl
70 82 71 77 78 78 77 51 62 70 67 64 77

Our outright team leader, Intxausti joins us from RBC for a fairly hefty fee of 1.7m, just slightly more than what he went for last season. He's a terrific rider that's suited to PCT level and is looking to make amends after a somewhat anonymous season last year. He was signed before hearing of Denfil, Amador and Dekker coming to/remaining in the division. If we can manage to play to his strenghts during our race planning, we have no doubt that he'll have an oustanding season and that he'll be floating around the top-20 in the PCT standings come season's end.

José Mendes

FA --> Indosat

i724.photobucket.com/albums/ww242/Eden1895/mendes_zpss14kzjsu.jpg

Flat Mtn Hill TT Sta Res Rec Cob Spr Acc Ftr Dh Prl
69 68 78 69 72 68 67 51 68 65 70 67 69

Mendes is another rider that'll help add depth to our classics squad. He'll be riding for us this season after having a fairly quiet season last year with Severstal. With a fair amount of race days, we'll be looking for Mendes to support both Anuar Aziz and Zaini as well as look for his own opportunities.

Transfer News

FA --> Indosat

Gregory Brenes

i724.photobucket.com/albums/ww242/Eden1895/brenes_zpseird0w3t.jpg

Gregory Brenes 145,000 28 Maxed
Flat Mtn Hill TT Sta Res Rec Cob Spr Acc Ftr Dh Prl
67 79 73 69 73 80 70 60 59 70 64 65 69

Gregory Brenes is a fantastic climber who we think will be very suited to the PCT division. He'll provide invaluable support to our leaders and will likely be given the opportunity to ride for himself in a few races throughout the season. He was one of our original targets before we heard of the disbandment of PT team Quickstep, and luckily we managed to get him for the same wage minus the fee! We are very happy to have attained the service of Brenes and hope he can have a standout season with the team.

Transfers Recap

We started transfers with 3 main targetrs in mind, and managed to get two of them - this we're pleased with. Intxausti was our plan B who we were lucky to sign as what we ended up paying for him was our absolute maximum. Only problem for us at the time was that his fee prevented us from transferring other riders from other teams. The team eventually realised that we'd reluctanlty have to sell our leaders in order to bring in another leader who would hopefully help us avoid relegation. This was done through the selling of Atapuma to Aeropostal, and Kruopis to Spotify (a sale we hoped that would not have to be made).

Other regrets we hold after this year's transfers is the narrow minded approach that the team went into transfers with. Our riders (with the exception of a couple of domestiques) were not to be sold. This eventuated with the majority of high profile transfers going through in the first few days before we realised that our current leaders were probably not going to be cut it at PCT level and we needed to bring other riders in. At this stage most of the riders we were interested in had been sold, but luckily we had a lifeline in Zaini.

We also missed out on the craziness of the first 3-4 days of the FA market as a result of this, and ultimately missed out on strengthening the team's depth. We managed to pick up a couple of riders towards the end of transfers however.

Regardless, we're happy with how things have turned out and think that our Top-15 goal for the PCT is definitely achievable if our riders turn up. If not, we're hopeful that we'll at least avoid relegation. We're happy with our leaders, and kind of 50/50 with the depth of the team - it could definitely be better.

After another transfer season goes by, we've enjoyed it but are also happy for it to be over. The next step will be organising the rider's schedules which could include a surprise or two.

I really wish I had Anuar Aziz, I have been chasing him pretty much since my first season, even if he was an unrealistic target in CT, then got so close to signing him last year before Quickstep beat me to him.

Having relegated I had no chance again this season as he was already over my budget by the time I could put my first bid in and again being a CT team I knew it would be impossible once he hit the FA, if Alak had stayed in the game then it might have been a different story as we could have used all the money we spent on training to bring him in instead.

One day I hope to achieve the dream of bringing him home to Malaysia but I'm glad that he's found a home not too far away in your squad if we couldn't make that happen.

You've got some strong leaders there and shouldn't have any problems staying up, even if Intxausti has another quiet year.

As I said before it was nice to get to send Pranata and Suryadi home and I hope they will be useful to your new leaders.

I definitely look forward to following your season and cheering your guys on.

Eden95
Quickstep disbanding also changed a fair bit for us too. If we went for Anuar Aziz then we wouldn't have been able to afford a GC leader so most likely wouldn't have.

Thanks! If you manage to get back up to PCT or have the budget, i'd also love to see him with your team.

I'm glad to have finally got them honestly, and thanks again for giving them a tap on the shoulder. I hope they manage to get themselves into a few breaks this year too.

I also wish I had Anuar Aziz. I didn't think I would be able to afford him and wasn't sure if my Italians were all going to sell, but Im pretty sure I could have fit him in my team if I tried and my team lacks 1 more PCT leader imo from being a strong team, but his nationality also doesn't fit with most of the rest of the team as well, and at the least he went to another asian focused team.

I havent looked at your team in the db but from the posts in here it looks like you will have a very strong team this year!

Eden95
Kinoshita along with Froome are probably the top 2 puncheurs in the division with Anuar Aziz somewhere in the top 5, so I couldn't imagine how dominant your team would have been with the two of them Smile

I think we'll do alright, so long as we can stay up and fulfill a goal or two i'll be happy.

Gratz, eden. Strong group of leaders you gathered the final days of transfers. Can't say if Aziz and Intxausti will win you races, but they will provide a good harvest for sure.

trekbmc
Wow you've assembled a strong team Shock Intxausti with support from Brenes should be super despite the strong climbing field and Anuar Aziz is one of those really nice puncheurs that doesn't lack in any back-ups stats. Looks like you'll be doing very well this season. Smile

Fantastic team you have here Eden, Intxausti is one of my favorite riders in the MG and hope he will do well for you too Smile Anuar Aziz is a frightening opponent to most punchers and will definitely harvest good points. I have to give you a possible Top 10 prediction if you manage to plan your riders correctly Smile Zaini is the weak link though, so he has the biggest chance to underperform. Good luck with to you Smile

Thanks guys.

@Margh: Thanks bud. Similar to last year, as soon as the road goes up we should score points regardless of wins Smile The team lacks depth, but so do a lot of the promoting teams so i'm not too worried. If we survive the season in PCT we'll just build on it next year.

@ trek: Thanks! Hopefully they do well together. I'm hoping to maximise their scoring potential through good planning and playing to their strenghts. I've got Intxausti's schedule sorted already and I'm confident it'll bring some points. Anuar Aziz should do pretty well hopefully, Zaini's a decent helper to have around too! Not too sure on how we'll go, we realistically only have 6-7 potential point scorers so they'll all need to be on point to make something of the season.

@ sgdanny: Thanks mate. I hope so too! If I get his schedule right he should do pretty well for us barring bad luck or a really stacked field. I'm already looking forward to competing against your team though, I'm sure with similar leaders we'll meet a bit during the season Smile
Not so sure of that yet. I think we can avoid relegation, besides that it's open for interpretation.
Zaini is more so a domestique than anything, no real expectations for him. However, the same was said for Signorini last season and he surprisingly turned out to be one of the top climbers in the division, so I'm going to reserve my judgement until he's had a race or two under his belt.

Absurdly good team for mountains and hills, a bit lacking in other terrains, but should definitely be enough to stay another year in PCT, actually, that's more than enough!

Anuar-Zaini will be an explosive combo, just as good as Arrinera's Froome-Roche imo!

Thanks Matt! We definitely lack depth elsewhere, but the likes of Summerhill and Ahlstrand kind of scared us out wasting our money on a mediocre cobbled or sprint leader who we wouldn't have been able to support anyway. Hopefully, but you never know.

I'd like to think Smile I think the Arrinera duo are both better respectively, but not by much so it'll be interesting.

NC Update

Due to the addidtion of Intxausti to our squad for the coming season, we can now reveal the kit the Spanish time trial champion will wear throughout the season:

Seasonal Retrospective

"Well, that kinda sucked"

To put it a little more euphemistically, season 16' wasn't quite what the management expected from the team (22nd in the division). Nonetheless, it was our first season in the big leagues and we survived so hooray! We were drinking celebratory champagne from casks for many weeks after hearing the final result of the PCT division (There was quite a lot missing however, maybe this explains why Intxausti couldn't stay on his bike half the time?).

Here's a (very brief) rundown of results from a couple of our riders this season. Full report to come at a later date, of course.
