Well, Machado... Guess the fight for 2nd will be interesting for me with Nepomnyachsniy who can ride well on all of these stages, especially IF 1 of these hilly stages has a high Hi/MO ratio.
Hate the fact Cav is here, thought I was smart with sending my sprinter here to get a few better shots at a stage win...

Very Hopeful for Boily here feel the stages suit him down to the ground with Machado the mountain stage will be very hard but a good result is not out of the question. |

I feel we've got a decent team here which should be able to go into the breakaways and be active in general. Admittedly I don't expect anything thinking of a result in the overall classification, but Stake Laengen might prove me wrong.
Looking a lot forward to see the team in action here in what should be a very interesting race. It could be a real miss for Prio-Porto, or it could be a brilliant one for them, eventhough it's their home race, it's surprising to see Machado line up. |

Oscar Gatto showed a lot better shape the last two classics, curious if he can deliver this time, too.
Last stage race we have high hopes for Dario Cataldo, need him to deliver one more time... as there isn't that much to expect from his start in China later the season.
The great results in Portugal (Algarve, Onda Boavista) from last year are keeping us optimistic.
Machado seems to be the obvious choice: Home race and no LLS to spoil the fun. Nonetheless the race can still end like the Tour de Romandie, where the tough mountain stage didn't create the expected gaps and the better punchers got the big money.

Nice win for the wrong Nepomnyachsniy brother, still congrats to fjhoekie.
Silently hoped for a surprise by Quaade, but just outside the top 10 is where I expected him. His stats could bring better results, but they rarely do. |

So close for Salas! 2nd is a great result though, cant complain here!
Promising start to the race, hopefully we will join some breaks later on. No wins all season for fjoekie, then he gets two in a row! Wow!

Completely forgot that there's a prologue. Cannot expected anything from those this season - especially with LLS not here.
Cool to see Nepomnyachsniy win. I would not mind seeing him staying on top of the GC for a while.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

That's a great start from Stake Laengen! Very happy and slightly surprised to see him do that well on the prologue. Would be great if it was a sign for what's to come
Congratulations to fjhoekie again, you're flying these days! Will be interesting to see the riders face what could be an important stage for the overall classification already on the next stage, those with overall ambitions can't really afford a single bad day here. |

Well, we have Bennett and Augustyn here for the GC. Both will be aiming for a top 10 because of a good Mountain/Hill combo. And Augustyn has an above average TT.
Hategeka is here for the hills and he has some good support with Ngue Ngock and Rabie (both who could be good breakaway riders). And of course, Hoffman for the sprints! Surprisingly there's some solid competition, but no doubt he's in contention for a stage win in my mind.
We have a strong squad here, so I hope we'll be able to leave the tour with a stage win and a good overall finish. Thankfully we got that prologue out the way.

TT is over and Ian Bowell just lost 11 seconds. Now Stage 2 will be a good place for him to step up and make an early statement.

I expected a bit more of Marcel Barth but otherwise did not expect much of Gerdemann.
Is this an indication that the German veteran can do here his last great race of his career ??? Let's wait and see and hope that this is possible

Tvetcov did well so I wont complain but with Dennis being one of the favs, it was disappointing to see him finish so 'low'
Overall, this tour will be difficult but hopefully we can get a half decent GC out of this!

That's slightly unexpected, but very cool! Nepomnyachsniy has been quite stable in most races this season, so that could well indicate a good performance here, which would be more than welcome given the position the team is still in. Smmes like the riders realise they have to step it up slightly.
Also good to see screenshots of 3 of my riders (If you include Tzortzakis)!
Game on, Machado!

Poor TT from Bookwalter, but very strong from Kwiatek. Hopefully that should mean he's in contention for the leaders jersey after stage 2. |

Hope Kangert is assigned captain, because I believe this is a very good race for him. During most of the many hilly stages he should be able to stay with the best. And of course he's going to be losing quite some time to some riders in that mountain stage. But he can make up a lot in the TT.
Machado is the only rider that on paper looks unbeatable actually.
Important race in our quest for the division title. Looking forward!

Good overall performance by our three TT riders, with Koren even coming close to the win. Hope this doesn't mean he gets leader status. Quite nervous about that. Stage 2 should make it clear already.

Apart from being only 2nd favourite now, behind Nepomniaschny ( ), this stage was a huge "meh" for us. Good to see Reis doing good, though. He could secure a nice result in case Machado doesn't deliver.
Anyway congrats fj

Nepo
Can definitely see why the jersey was revealed a bit early, great way to start such an important race!

Big congrats to our ukrainian collegues for the win and leaders jersey, now hold it Nepo!
Poor TT from Metinvest, but that is expected with rather harsh TT limit for PT teams.
Thanks for the report.
