Farrar is sprinting tomorrow, according to EBH, btw.
Interesting stage tomorrow, but I highly doubt it will be echelons. Seems like echelons only happen like 1 out of 10 times (when speculated that there might be echelons).
Interesting to see how the sprinters go head to head. We haven't really seen the best sprinters going head to head this season..
Etixx-Quick Step with the best team on paper, but Kwiatek seems to be in shitty form at the moment though. Given how important he can be in their train, we might see the train falling a little bit apart.
Kristoff-train on three are in good shape, think they can dominate the last kilometer. If Kristoff can sprint from the front, I believe that Cav is the only one who can beat him. So my guess is a loooong sprint from Kristoff, so that he might have a chance to keep Cav behind him.
Will be interesting to see the train for Greipel and Bouhanni. Especially the Lotto-train seems very weak this time around.

And so ASO's quest to try and make as many people crash out before the ridiculously placed TTT begins. Would be very surprised if more than 2 of the "big 4" are still in GC contention by the time the Pyrenees arrive.

Another preview up.
Looking forward to this stage. Will be a very nervous day for the overall contenders. |

Very nice again, wogsrus
Although in 2013, it wasn't only Tinkoff blowing the pack to pieces, remember Quickstep and Belkin teamed up and started it
Something that I, given the current GC, could actually see happen tomorrow. Or well, that might be wishful thinking.

Why would they start the TDF in such a flat country? even the speedbumps feature on the profile
Its only a sprint so I'm not too bothered, unless Sanchez wins

Some of you might call me crazy but I believe that Bouhanni has one of the strongest trains in the race he has 4 very capable sprinters in Simon, VanBilsen, Soupe, and Laporte there. I think they are finally hitting stride with that train, obviously he's no Cav or Kristoff but if he's not feeling the affects from his crash last weekend, I believe he will steal a stage sometime this tour. Again call me crazy |

So you think todays stage is dangerous? I also just don't get your dislike for the placing of the Team TT, I think its a good idea to place it later in the race, so what if some teams are weakened by then, it's a GT so things should be difficult

Guys, have anyone played this stage on PCM15? They made the finish so realistic.

I dno what ASO what supposed to do tho. They could just place 3 mountain stages and an ITT on the first 4 days which would eliminate contenders and pretender and thus make it a lot more calm, but you obviously cant do that. The first few days are gonna be extremely nervous almost regardless of what stages they design. I also dont remember a single crash on the cobbled stage last year on the actual cobbles from the big guys which meant they either lost significant time or abandoned, Froome was just crippled from the day before, on a completely flat stage without any dangerous.
The ideal would to have stages like in Corsika 13, hilly terrain in in the south in good conditions, but you obviously cant do that every year (which the Giro also did). I dont like they almost every year has to get through a significant amount of stages in the Northern France, as those seem to be the most dangerous, but those regions obviously mean a lot to the organization, and its a big part of France, so there is that.
The TTT is the least of problems. If your team gets blown apart, you lose 2, at worst 3 minutes but at good health, its easy to make up for that in the coming 10 days, almost exclusively featuring semi-hard to hard stages, capable of timegaps. And its a great spectactle - also adds something tactical to the whole first week, which I like. Its not just like, like in many other instances, 'kill yourself the first week, and your job is basically done' for those rouleur-types on Astana, Sky, Saxo and Movistar.

The wind and rain will make the conditions so hard and the finish will be like Milano-San Remo! But the winner will be Fabian Cancellara and he will take the yellow from Rohan Dennis.

Or Dennis, judging by his average speed yesterday, could do a Cancellara to keep the jersey?

Mid GT TTTs are a bad idea for me.
Fair enough you need to build a team to last the course, however losing a rider or two in the first week for road stages can be covered, but losing a rider or two in the first week is pretty hard for a TTT.
Picture this three Saxo guys get caught in crashes through no fault of their own in first week, Sky, Astana and Movistar get through with full compliment. These three teams put two minutes into saxo on TTT. Imagine a similar scenario with FdJ? They would probably lose three minutes plus.
I don't see how that is right. Team chronos are best on first stage or at very worst in first few stages. When you have full teams head to head, not full teams vs unlucky crash victim teams.

Yes but you can't design a course in which no team has bad luck, this is what makes GT's so interesting to follow in that anything can happen. Taking out the Team TT just because it might disadvantage a GC favourites team is just asking for a boring race, this TDF course route isn't the best to me but the Team TT is the least of its issues

Sagan mentioned down there just as outside favourite behind Matthews, who wrote that joke article?
If there should be echelons, Tinkoff would destroy it with their lineup.

If there should be echelons, Tinkoff would destroy it with their lineup. This should be a conventional sprint stage. So the big sprinters teams should be at the front with their leaders. Hence, why l think even though echelons may occur, the top sprinters will be well positioned enough to survive at the front. Hence why Sagan is not mentioned in detail. |

You are right, i just forgot to switch my Tour Sagan mode off. :-P
Anyway hoping for a top5 for Peter, this should
be between Kristoff and Cav.
