mmm had a quick check to see if an 'old fart' had entered Rundfahrt.
No sign of me or Ollfardh... but rest assured sutty is here (Oh and tsmoha too - finally he gets some nice score in PCT thats where the kangaroos belong perhaps )
Ciolek takes a real tight one, a nice bunch of sprint names including those fat cat high salary tossers Cav and Vantomtom. Cav no doubt weighed down by those bags of cash in the final there.

Awesome sprint by Dakteris. Didn't expected him to sprint for a top ten and some minor points so it was a very pleasant surprise.
I liked how well positioned LLS (I suppose it was him?) seemed to be with 20km to go. Even when this was a flat finish it still can be important to stay up there to avoid unnecessary splits or crashes.
I love to see Ciolek taking the home win here! The best sprinter in his home race surely deserved at least one stage win
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

What a start!
Thanks knockout
Feeling slightly bad for Ahlstrand indeed, but he will have tons of opportunities for wins throughout his career. Thanks for the close fight though!
Bar did a great job to keep Ciolek in contention long enough after the other sprinters already started to burn their energy.
I hope Giaux can help out a bit better next time though, I assume he was involved in the chasing a bit.
What was Avelino doing there by the way?
Now into the TT with yellow which is obviously just a nice sight and some points for us, the focus lies on Kelderman now to limit his losses on the one hand and to get some seconds on guys like Levarlet and Boswell in case they surprise on stage 4.

Docker not even sprinting, that's a pity after his great ride in Barcelona.

Thanks for the preview and the first report, FroomeDog!
Race dropped from high priority pre-transfers to low priority post transfer season... as we couldn't acquire a suiting rider.
Depending on the ITT we might settle for a top20 or have to rely on breakaways only.

With this kind of competition it will be complicated to Haussler, be able to do better.
Congrats to Cio93 and We go there for my best opportunity to achieve the goal in this race. And also the first opportunity to see what Fiedler can do, just hope that it is not given a -5 or something in daily form

Home from my holiday just in time before the GC action starts. Very strong startlist, but still Kangert, Koren and Westra should be able to score a decent amount of points here.
Because a large number of TT specialists showed up, we're definitely going to need a selective stage 4.

Avelino why you afraid of beating Ciolek?
Anyway this should be a great race, given the startlist. I'd love to have a good performance here, with so many good riders in contention, especially those german direct rivals (yes you know who you are ).
Thanks for reporting Froomie. Hopefully this 1st stage was an aberration

Hm.
3rd is not something I cant be content with.
But I just wonder why Vingerling and Vantomme both go for their own

We came here to give our younger riders experience, and Lietaer gets in the break first stage. Great start

Koren, wow. Damn good result, should be a real threat here. Also Boom and Bibby set for a high GC - as to be expected. Grivko doing okay, though not too special. Will be happy enough, if he joins those who attack on the hilly stage (of course causing some gaps then).
Fiedler may end up fairly okay eventually. He should be dropped of course, but maybe he can limit the damage somehow? Gratz to the win anyway.

This was very good. Schädlich probably with the best time trial since riding for my team. A pity that Fiedler was also here.
And Boom gaining quite some time on many GC riders is also good. 9th very strong by him.
Koren though. Wow. Possibly the big favourite now depending on the pace uphill. Gazelle surely has the men power to support him well though.
Boom and Dumoulin both 78 TT. Though they were 40s different. Shows how good Boom is doing in those TT`s.

Elijzen, my god, what a performance.
Does he really not have 80TT or something? He won a C1 TT last year if I remember correctly
Van Winden disappointing, but 4th+7th is another solid performance I suppose.

That went really well compared to the other big puncheurs with only 8 and 19 seconds lost on LLS and Costa despite being 5 and 6 TT down on them.
Koren is the big trouble man for this trio now as gaining two minutes on him requires a brutal pace on the lower slopes already and a convincing attack rather early into the climb.
Including bonus seconds, I hope gaining a minute on Boom/Reus/Kangert/Bibby is doable.
Overall and considering I didn't expect Costa and LLS to stay within reach, we go into that hilly stage with a better feeling than I expected.
But first, another good performance by Ciolek, please! The points jersey would be a nice thing to keep.

Nice to see the old CT-battle with Elijzen and Stannard continue... and finally the first time Michael Schär is able to beat Stannard. is our best TT result in a while and a nice foundation regarding the climax.

Being in the break on the first stage is great, I don't expect alot from this race but always good to have a German rider showing our jersey in Germany
The TT can just be overlooked

Yes he was able to meet the expectations and the second goal of the season is reached
Balloni on the 8th place is also a pleasant surprise, but I think some candidates to victory eventually disappoint a bit. LLS and Costa were a bit below what I expected.
Fiedler should be able to keep the yellow jersey in the next stage and in the decisive stage I'm not sure what to expect but taking into account the possible bonus may end up getting a respectable place overall.
Thanks for the great report Froomie

Man Stannard should be better here? Was there a few speed bumps here unnoticed? Didn't stop the kiddie Fiedler and Shytelick... German TTers rule PCT waves.

Wow. This sucks. 2'21'' down in GC is horrible and 8s on Kelderman only is just too few. LLS now needs a monster stage 4 to get a result close to what i expected. I'm really confident about my win goal now
Costa as well with massive underperformance.
The complete results seem more random than the average KoM competition...
