Gotta cheer on my ex-rider Ventoso. Stage 1 is tailor-made for him.

TDU always give strange results.
For me, Impey or di Maggio are the safe bets, only Old Willy will tell.

Very excited in front of our opener this season.
I think that in the end, we will be more than happy with top-15 GC and a stage podium, so that's our goal. I reckon we'll have much better opportunities to do something on one of the flattest stages.
Also happy to see so many CT teams here, that will definately boost our chances in doing well. Good luck to all participants |

Suparman, shame he could not find a way to stay clear, but if he continues to be the first attacker he could have plenty of chances to come, mainly in America
Impey wins, as expected. The gap's pretty surprising, and those 3 will have a great advantage for Willunga already.
Prevar in 13th gives me hope for a good GC, and Efimkin in 64th makes me wonder if ACC really has some influence

Huge step towards a GC-victory for all those three ahead. Makes it even more interesting for Willunga, I hope. Still believe in Pozzato to get the better end there. He's definitely a nice rider to have for such a race (and a couple of more, of course).

Giving these 3 guys easy seconds on stage 1 was not part of the plan, Doh!

Same here with Netia, was hoping we would join the break or Sobota/Morkov would do something in the sprint.

Interesting stage, good to see that Pozzato delivers in his first race for Gazelle

That hill was a bit harder than expected
Hopefully Serebriakov will get his chance, otherwise this race will be one big giant waste of RDs

Well, that was rather disappointing.. Weird that Meyer was so far off the pace given his position going into the last kilometers.

As I said before the race, once Impey gets that leader's jersey I can't see him giving it up, particularly with the time bonus and now 30" advantages.

Brilliant start for Impey and FroomeDog99, really nice to see him deliver in his first try, congratulations! Also cool to see Swedbank do well with Reimer, just like Pozzato and Impey, he got some great stats for this race.
Obviously a blow for all GC contenders loosing 27 seconds and bonifications to those three, meaning Di Maggio and Klemme really need to attack and ride aggressive on the hilly stages. They can only hope Impey doesn't pick up more bonus seconds on stage 2!
Thanks for the report, roturn. |

Great start for Kenya and Gazelle in especial. They did the most work and benefitted from it. Also great to see former Festina-loanie Blaz Furdi doing well here.
I have some money splashed on Pozzato as the overall winner so I'm happy to see his team doing a massive effort for him.

Having the only ex winner of the race is not bad...Not that he will do a lot during the race though. I'm hoping we can do a lot better then Stage 1 in the next stage.

it's a shame that McEvoy was far back in the start of the sprint, because he seemed able to close the space for the first three.
even then it was not a bad stage for us,

Interesting start. All 3 of them have a serious chance at winning this race. Impey will most likely get some more bonus seconds on the flat, while Pozzato should be stronger in stage 5.
Will be nice to see how this one plays out.

I thought Reimer might cancel out any time gap, but glad that he didn't. Very interesting for the race now that those few have gained an extra advantage, to see if the stronger climbers can make that back.
Impey has gotta be favourite for Stage 2 now too.

Great win for Impey and expected thought Pozzato was stronger then I expected feel he has a great chance if having the same form over the coming days
CT teams are having a ahrd time here feel they will not benefit from the racedays spent here and that will probably be a trend for the season. |
